The president was humbled; put in HIS place. There's a lot to be learned about how President Obama (mis) handled this. I hope he doesn't forget that AA are the difference-makers. I worked the campaign & polls. I saw the old men and women, barely able to stand up straight, people in wheelchairs, standing in cold steady rain in the dark — and nobody leaving. Like legions of others, I supported him with my hard-earned money. But I WILL NOT be taken for granted. Right now I'm pissed off, big time. And I know there are many other black folks that feel the same way. And I'm not making any excuses for him either. The reality of watching the purported 'most powerful man on the planet' humbled — forced to kiss Crowley's ass under the glare and spotlight of the world just makes me sick.

He wouldn't be on Fox if he was wasn't a sell-out. Speaking of sell-outs, did anybody catch Don Lemon and TJ What'shisname on CNN yesterday? Talking about carrying water for Crowley! It that what it takes to have an on-air gig at CNN? I wonder how much longer Roland is going to last. He's just too black to last much longer.

But of course Hannity and his ilk had nothing to do with the real lessons that were taught to the nation. I am sick of these attacks taken by these stations and talk show hosts against the president. It's like they have been given rights to a free for all. There is nothing that is out of bounds for them to say, even if it is a lie, about the President. It goes beyond free speech. It's inciteful speech, hate speech and I want to know when someone is going to draw a line on it.

I just heard that ever reliable defender of the "mainstream Black middle class" position, Juan Williams talk about how politically damaging this issue has been to the President. He was meandering along with his predictably incoherence and then he recounted how deferential he has told his children to be around police officers. And then I screamed at the radio....

Perhaps Mr. Williams and his generation have spent so long being deferential that they no longer realize that this level of deference is a mental shackle....preventing us from being able to speak out against something moronic. Like the arrest of an old Black man with a cane because he spoke a profanity or five.

I also think that the Ryan Moates story from Dallas, this controversy over the President's comments and the Birther controversy is actually all the same story. If Black people are insufficiently deferential and refuse to pay all the societal 'poll taxes', then we invite a backlash which overshadows everything we try to do.....like overhaul a health care system that spends more money than anywhere on earth and leaves 47 million people uninsured.

Also....I think Juan Williams is an actual impediment to the progress of the image of Black people in the media. A remarkable, relentless apologist for the daily petty indignities Black people SHOULD NO LONGER HAVE TO FACE JUAN....

This statement is so true. Buchanan has made hideous racist comments that they don't even bat an eye at. The is to put the President in his place, and, unfortunately, he went.

It is odd to me that the media pounced on first Mr. Gates and then the president but totally ignored the story posted on CNN about the state trooper who was suspended for five days for his treatment of an EMT who he pulled over while en route with a patient to a hospital. There is a picture with the troopers hands wrapped around the EMT's throat. The EMT is a black man.

If you listen to the video you can hear the trooper cussing at the man and talking to him in a manner and tones that sound like he's talking to a slave.

The president should not have walked this back to the degree that he did because he left the media and his critics feeling as though they were right and that racial profiling, discrimination, disrespect and degradation imposed on minorities by the police is just a figment of their imaginations. The critics know these things happen, they have just said we know, but we don't care and you are not going to discuss it.

The President was punk'd.

The good man is the EMT who must perform his job helping to save lives while suffering through abuse and discrimination of a state trooper. I would like to hear the media and the President discuss this.

Basically the poster was saying the officer needed a white person (Harvard) to validate Gates' identity, and when I kept questioning her on that, that's when she said 'Well you aren't honest, you want to call me racist but you won't."

When people defend themselves against labels and actions which they haven't been accused of, it lets me know they are indeed that label and doing that action they haven't been accused of.

And I think it's a laugh riot that the Irish Media Mafia is demanding Barack Obama bend down and apologize for being a racist but they whistle in the wind with Pat Buchanan.
