I read in one article, and now I cannot remember which, that Gaits said the Black officer was trying to signal Crowley to let it go. For the life of me, I can't remember where I read it on that second day. But according to the tape that they have played, the lady who called never refereded to Race. Her lawyer had spoken out in her defense and then when they played the tape she only answered when they asked, that one may have been Hispanic, she wasn't sure. And she never said anything about backpacks, but that the suitcases were on the porch. So that was a lie written into the report and stated by Crowley.

I Be Thinking! I just think Crowley didn't make this arrest decision by himself. It's just still think something is missing for me in this whole situation. Are you not sure Khrish that the Black Officer with him didn't just edge him on to go ahead and arrest this beligerant Negro. I think we just had to be there to understand how this went down.

Pardon me, dear, but I must ask what you believe my thesis to be, for I said, no where, that people ought to stop being who and what they were besides that I wish them to discontinue being racist and unfair. That is what I wanted to stop. I want humanity to not define people by the colour of their skin. My purpose is precisely as you mentioned: when no person is viewed inequal to another as a result of their appearances or other unalterable or born traits (age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, etc.).
Racism: a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/racism)
Indeed, when all people can recognize that skin colour or any other arbitrary physical feature does not define one culture from another, then, yes. The world will be free of racism and a much more equal place.
However, when a person with dark skin identifies their culture as inherently linked to their skin colour, they are being racist. I make an example of this with Wasteacher mostly because I was insulted by the phrasing that said poster used. Apologies for the specific note, Wasteacher. You are not the only one whom I would consider to have been racist, here, and I will recognize that my being insulted could skew my opinions. Regardless, it is as racist to make a generalization about the culture and person of an individual if their skin is dark as it is if it is light. Wasteacher grouped me because of my skin colour with people who are deemed racist (there is the demonizing earlier mentioned, Morphus). Furthermore, I was excluded from having the capability to understand or become a part of a culture because of my skin colour.
I spoke with another person about this, and here is what we have come to:
You and I mostly agree. As do most of the others, here.
None of us want people to suffer as a result of their skin colour. What hinders us in our agreement is the definition of culture. I believe that culture, in order to be free of racism, must be defined without regards to race. Many of you seem to equate skin colour to culture (which is what I have found hypocritical) which causes you to feel under attack when someone wishes to eliminate the skin colour element. It feels, to you, as though I am suggesting that you remove the "black" culture. I am not, in the least. What I believe is that the definitions of cultures drawn along the lines of skin colour, hair type, eye-shape, and other arbitrary physical characteristics ought to be abolished. No one's actions should be assumed because of these physical traits. All racial-profiling is racial-profiling. All racism is racism.

That's the issue right there, and President Obama should have addressed it, instead of engaging in the same obsequious behavior in front of police that Black people across the country have to engage in. If the president can't take a stand in front a police officer then how are any of the rest of us supposed to do so?

"Everyone knows" that Black people have no right to ask white police officers for their ID, because 'Blacks have no rights that they could vindicate even if they had that information, and so it's unreasonable for Blacks to request that information.'

It is standard procedure for police to arrest any Black person who asks, requests or demands to see a police officer's identification, or even asks just for the officer's name and badge number so that the Black person can right this information down.

Blacks are supposed to be obsequious in the presence of police, and obsequious people do not ask for the identification of police officers.

That's why the media and white people don't care whether the officer gave his name and badge number to Gates. The media and whites are in agreement that Gates had no de facto rights that he could have vindicated even if he had the officer's name and badge number.

Blacks have no rights in the United States of America which a police officer is bound to respect, and that's why asking for the name and badge number is "uppity" and inherently unreasonable. It's like a slave asking an overseer for the overseer's name, so that the slave can report the slave to the owner of the plantation on which the slave is enslaved.

The purpose of having an overseer for the Blacks in the first place is to assure that Blacks are sufficiently intimidated and controlled so that they won't try to overthrow or escape the system under which they are enslaved.

As a matter of simple fact, Black people have not found a consistently or even often-successful method of vindicating the rights that white people enjoy vis a vis the police and the (in)justice system. Flagrant injustices only receive attention because they are different (in scope or target) from the "normal" injustices that Black people suffer every day at the hands of police.

From a historical point of view YOU are living in a dream world!! There are BLACK CODES currently valid enforceable law on the laws of States all around this nation. For example there are the Black Codes of OHIO, There are Black codes on the books in Illinois. There are the Body of Liberty laws on the books of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. These so called NEGRO laws in the case of Massachusetts go back to Colonial times but are still part of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. These laws are pure RACE LAWS as they only apply to American Negros or any American of African descent.

Back in the 1980's a group of Black Lawyers tried to get the Black Codes removed from the laws of the State of Ohio. The Chiefs of Police throughout Ohio fought against repeal of the Black Codes. Their argument was that the codes were necessary and were instrumental in suppression of disorder and violence immediately following the killing of Martin Luther King! The Police Chiefs won and the Black lawyer's Bill of Repeal was defeated in the Ohio Legislature.

The current presence of these Black Codes used to criminalize normal ordinary behavior for ONLY BLACK PEOPLE ultimately creates a pernicious frame of influence that results in the POOR QUALITY of POLICE SERVICE daily rendered to Black people by local law enforcement.
Any Negro, African American, or any other negroid personage who does not believe this is either drunk, daft, or dead.

When I read that some people of color who are asked their thoughts on the Gates' situation; it floors me. Especially when they seem to think that things are different now. Well, I must admit that they are not following the news, reading online posts; so what are they doing. When seething undercurrents once know to me as “inciting to riot” and this ugly thing about a birth certificate going on and on in the media. I worry all the time about the safety of the President and his family as well as our brothers and sisters in this climate. What are they thinking? To hear a Black Police officer say that he voted for Obama but wouldn't vote for him again, I'm asking…where will that get you? When people say he should not have commented on the incident when they know damn well they would have been up in arms had the president made no comment. They have already been talking about him selling out Black folk and what he isn't doing for the Black community. Will there ever be a real alliance of our people? What the hell do they want. You damned if you do and you damned if you don't. They even complain because of Prof. Gates standing in the community. Why are we telling our young people to push forward and excel if we will then turn around and scold them for excelling. The police officer was wrong. He arrested Gaits in his own home for anger at a police officer….since when did that become an arrestable offense?

Ya'll know what the best ID is: lower your head and eyes and hold your hand in front and say “Yes sir/Yes maam” That' s always the proper ID for people of color because it proclaims that you still know your place. Who could have ever forgotten it?

I do not think that I am in the wrong place, at all. While I do not limit myself to here, I do not think that it is wrong in any way to try to convince both sides of my point. You refuse to even attempt to realize my ideas. Doesn't that seem a bit hypocritical? To say that “my people” (whoever they are supposed to be) will not change because they are set in their ways and then, yourself, to resist a new approach.
Another note, as a personal grievance, you are being racist towards me. You are identifying by your skin colour and telling me that I cannot understand because of the colour of my own skin. I do not understand this hypocritical action. Please, tell me if there is a justified reason for your racism toward me. If you are unable, I think that it only goes further to show that I should, in fact, be here. That this is the right place. That even those who claim to want to end racism are persisting it.
