Venus and Serena will be playing in the doubles final, too. They defeated the number one seeded women's double team yesterday. They are also the defending women's doubles champions as well.

I had no clue there were so many tennis fans around here!

There are loads of black tennis fans, many of whom were fans long before Serena and Venus came along, but, I think that most just talk about the sport among themselves as they saw the racist vitriol on almost all tennis blogs about the sisters and left and sadly the racism is still there on most of them. And in my tennis league there are many blacks of all levels including many 5.0 players!

Besides the W's I love, Mauresmo, Ivanovic, Roger, Roddick, del Porto, but can't stand Nadal, that rear picking is too gross for me to even watch him play a match along with the fact that his game is just ugly.

This is marvelous news and after seeing Serena thee of 9 lives pull off that win yesterday it shows, they are still the two women to be watched!

And the best laugh of all is for the W's as they were dismissed the other day to the non-show courts in order for as the Wimby spokesperson said some like: "During early rounds of this year's championships at Wimbledon, tennis' biggest global stage, tournament officials chose to shunt the tour's hottest players (in terms of recent victories) off to lower-profile courts while scheduling what they perceive to be the hottest players (in terms of physical appearance) on Centre Court. Which may be an example of sexism, doofus behavior, or just going with prevailing commercial forces.

A headline in London's Daily Mail wailed, "Babe, set and match: Why looks count for more than talent when Wimbledon decides which girls will play on Centre Court."


Go 'rena, win it this year and show them that its TALENT not blond hair or alleged, cough, cough, 'beauty' that wins the majors!!!

that was some straight bulls*** and they know it. the worst part is that the WTA has said nothing about it. Just further evidence of how completely useless they are.

I hate it when they have to play each other in the finals! NOT!!! Love it! Love it! Love it!

On can hope that while the Williams sisters are playing the rest of the women on the tour are slamming his ass like it was service practise time.
In the past Anna Kournakova, was the Russian girl whom was considered blonde, busty and like to frolic w/ Russian hockey players. She never won shit but was the face of women's tennis. All the women players hated her. That article is going to dredge all that back up.
So I'm rooting for the backcourt beat down.
AS to a favorite I'm just going to enjoy the tennis because it will be the best.

Anna hasn't been the face of tennis in a long time. And most tennis fans will never think of her as legit. She was great as a junior but as a pro her success came from doubles play. She is more well known for her boyfriends and her bar fights.

Maria Shaarpova was the last "white" face of tennis but at least she was a 3 time grand slam winner including a win over Serena in the Wimbledon finals.

Even if they were given modeling contracts, if you ask any tennis fan, especially an American tennis fan, who the top players are, Serena and Venus always top the list.

Maria is the top paid female athlete if you include endorsements followed by Serena and then Venus.

Kournakova is not even in the top 10.

I'm so looking forward to this. Although...and I can hear my mother's voice coming out of my mouth as I say this... I bet' not see Serena's lip poked out if she loses.

Serena better get her pout ready because Venus is at the top of her game. She crushed the #1 seed (though there is controversy as to whether she should have been seeded #1 since she does not have a good record on grass courts). Venus plays a a more mature game and I think big sis is gonna take it.

I think so too. But I just hate it when Serena acts like a whiny little sister. Venus, being more mature in the game and seemingly in life, then takes time away from her victory to attend to little sis. Bugs me. On the other hand, Serena gets to feel how she feels and it's nice to see how Venus cares for her. Still, did I say it bugs me?

I'm going with Venus in 3. She's played absolutely devastating tennis for two weeks.

It's been a long time since Centre Court was reserved for Barbies. One of the William's sisters has won the woman's title in 7 of the last 9 tournaments.

Yes, I know that have been consistent champs...I may have mispoke. I was referrring to how they did not have they on high profile CentreCourts playing. Instead they had those blonde'beauties' and shunted them to the lower profile courts.
