Jiill ,I just want to know where were you when Barris was trailblazing his way thru Illinois politics.He has a better resume than SBO did when he entered that seat. Don't be so hard on those who helped pave the way for carpetbaggers like PBO. If you don't know where you come from you don't know where you are going. I still remember how the Democratic machine took SBO the only AA in the senate, to Maryland to tell AA not to vote for another AA . Even though The Man of Steele may not have been my choice for a senate seat ,had I faced the same option . I think I would have told the party Find another Boy. No other ethnic group would've done that. By the way that same junior senator did'nt back your boy in the primary.

I don't vote for the Black person simply because they are a Black person. How many Black people per year per state get into the primary for their party to try to be the nominee? I don't think it's fair to just imply that other states won't elect a black person to the senate, especially when so many of us just elected a Black man to be President.

I'm not overly concerned with having a Black person in the Senate just for the sake of having a Black person in the Senate, I want the person who is most qualified.

California is not a progressive state – she just plays one on TV.

That's why we couldn't even get a brotha like Tom Bradley elected to the state house, but a no-English talking buffoon gets the nod.

If California was as progressive as, San Francisco/Oakland – no way Dianne Feinstein still holds a Senate seat.

I noticed Kirk trying to flex yesterday, after Lisa Madigan said she would run for re-election as Attorney General (she's another one who wasn't getting past the black community to run for a different office). So… the IL Talipublicans shot his punk ass down – not totally unexpected. 'Sides – he's going through a divorce. No telling what may come out.

Kirk could easily win the Senate seat and the IL GOP would be committing political suicide if they do not support him in his bid for the Senate.

Danny, Toni Preckwinkle and Dorothy Brown need to sit their Black asses down. If they want to run for something, run for MAYOR. I think ALL of them are poseurs. Plants...if you know what I mean.

The County of Cook is the ONLY entity in the ENTIRE STATE, that has BALANCED ITS BUDGET. It's been tough; it's been hard; but Todd Stroger did it.

And nobody would know it..that the County is balanced and the City of Chicago is spilling red ink, and King Richard thinks the taxes should go for his 2016 Pipe Dream.

Republican Mark Kirk is saying he won't be running for senate, presumably because the GOP purists refuse to support him after voting for Obama's climate change bill.

I'm still waiting for someone in this thread to answer my question: why is Illinois – as tainted and corrupt as everyone wants to claim it is – the only state capable of electing or appointing a black senator? Two of the three black senators elected to Congress – Carol Mosely-Braun and Barack Obama – come from Illinois.

What's going on in the other states? Where are your progressive coalitions that are supposed to be so morally and ethically superior to what we have in the Chicago area? When will they ever produce anything other than the same old same, while outsiders freely rail and pontificate about us crooks in Chi town?

If you got such a problem with seeing people like Burris appointed to the senate I suggest you start producing candidates in your own state or STFU about ours.

This has been my ghettofabulous rant of the day.

So true, Clarence Thomas is a reserved name like Adolf Hitler. He is truly the worse of the worse.

It's easier to compare people to Uncle Tom, Aunt Tomasina or the Devil Himself, because those are abstract concepts.

Clarence is a concrete, tangible obstacle to the advancement of AAs.
