A Dr. on CNN just interviewed a white couple who has sextuplets like jon & Kate plus 8. So he is all fawning over the kids and talking about how cute they are. How many Black couples do you know who have been thru fertility treatment and have these large # multiples? I'm starting to think that this is not as accidental as they want us to believe. The only thing is that many of these children have diminished mental capacity and/or birth defects.I barely know any Black people with triplets let alone 6 at a time, and I'm a teacher. I smell a rat. Pass the tinfoil hat.

WASHINGTON — Regulators on Friday shut six banks in Georgia and a small bank in New York state, raising to 64 the number of federally insured banks to fail this year.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. was appointed receiver of the banks: six bank subsidiaries of Security Bank Corp., based in Macon, Ga.; and Waterford Village Bank of Clarence, N.Y.
With the latest closings, 16 Georgia banks have failed this year, more than in any other state. Most of the failures have involved banks in the Atlanta area, where the collapse of the real estate market brought economic dislocation.

GA has an unusually high percentage of home owners for its population, I read that somewhere...and I know all of last year, all we heard was that Dekalb County had this high foreclosure rate, blah blah blah (black folks basically)...but according to this chart, the highest ranking GA city is Atlanta/Sandy Springs/Marietta....the fact that they latch Sandy Springs and Marietta with Atlanta tells me all I need to know..it aint black folks.

In all of his remarks about the situation, he's been speaking without notes or a teleprompter. He's been speaking from his heart. From his experience. But also as President of the United States.

Racial profiling is on the nation's mind because the President put it there.

This is no small thing.

Especially if you're a Black man.

Also, let's not forget that as a State legislator Obama was the one who negotiated with the police unions. He is not in foreign waters. He has transacted this type of negotiation before. Obama was the one responsible for the legislation that requires all questioning to be taped of officers/suspects in IL...that was no small feat.

Crowley, Gates camps pleased by president's phone calls

Calls by President Obama to Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and to Sergeant James M. Crowley inviting the men to meet with Obama at the White House were welcomed by both camps today.
Harvard law professor Charles J. Ogletree Jr., one of Gates's lawyers, praised the president, a former student of his, for calling both men.

"I think the president has taken the right approach by trying to make sure we move forward," said Ogletree. "He's always had the ability to negotiate difficult conversations, and his steps today are an important step in the right direction. I think the president has given his assessment, which makes a lot of sense, and, however you feel about it, it has reduced the temperature and allowed everyone to move forward in a constructive way."

Crowley was also pleased by the call, according to a fellow officer who asked not to be identified because he is not authorized to speak publicly about the issue.
"Jimmy said, 'I'd be happy to come to the White House and sit down with you and Gates and have a beer,' " the veteran Cambridge officer said. "The president said he was acceptable to that."

I hope those who are complaining about Obama's gesture don't lose sight of the fact that Obama sees this as an opportunity to move the conversation about race forward and although it WASN'T really an apology an apology would be a small price to pay in order to achieve that. Also, don't underestimate the symbolism of inviting Crowley to the White House to share a beer: it speaks to a certain demographic that's been known to support Republicans. Its a very shrewd move politically.

LA and DC were found to be harvesting black youths for money. Minister Louis Farrakhan in 1994 raised the issue about DC, but no one believed him.

I have to say I agree, this is much ado about little in my book, and, its going to be a red hot issue all weekend long now that Obama has taken the bait and got involved without knowing all the facts and now its all coming home to roost since we all know white America is 100% pro-cop no matter what, good as they claim this guy is or bad, to which they seem to feel there is no such thing as a bad cop since they all just want to help and protect (typed with heavy sarcasm.).

That said, young black men are harassed, finger printed and a mug shot for no reason by the thousands daily in this country and hardly anyone cares. And, sadly, they get a record that's not easy to expunged and go through life with the label of having been arrested, those are the people the media should be focused on, not Gates and Crowley. And, why it is that blacks for the most part fear the police more than the thug on the corner, that speaks volumes, but, is never heard or addressed.

Did you hear Obama's comments this afternoon? The people involved seem to want to move on--even the Cambridge Police Union seems happy with the outcome. The only people who will continue this will be the Rush Limbaughs, and let's face it, if it wasn't this there, would be some other outrage--like Obama's birth certificate or something.

Just in case you didn't know it, racial profiling IS a national issue normally without media coverage. PBO represents all Americans and that include concerns of the AA community.
