Good morning JJP family. Well, we can get back to the ugliness of politics now that Michael has been given the proper respect and is buried. I am very upset with the media coverage of Sarah Palin; I don’t like the angle it has taken… this quest to find a viable candidate to run against Obama in 2012. I find the media conversations distasteful and disrespectful. Obama has been in office 5.5 months and the notion that the country is interested in how the Republican Party can regain their political footing and takes back the White House is insulting to say the least. I am also upset hearing the media continually report poll numbers tracking the likability and job approval of the president. This country has been going down the toilet for 8 years and the audacity of the American people to expect a completed turn around in 5 months is ludicrous! I expect Fox news to talk trash 24/7 about Obama, but I expect Keith, Ed and Rachael to put forth a positive progress report; Americans need to know the country is stabilizing and the recovery process will take some time; how many times does the president have to say that? Finally, I could kick the Biden’s butt for never knowing when to shut up! Biden puts the president in some tight spots; Obama always has to walk back something he has said.

What did Biden say?
MoObama
He went on TV this past week-end and stated that Obama’s team misinterpreted the economic downturn while the stimulus package was being formulated. There are conversations ….you know the slogan for Vegas, “What you do in Vegas stays in Vegas.” Well, some White House conversations are to stay in the White House. With any other president this might not be such a big deal, but Obama is under a microscope; everything he says or does is dissected and analyzed. Biden’s remarks have given the opposition something to chew on, the president’s team is to cover his back—this should never have happened.

But this isn't the first time Biden said this. He said the same thing when he was on MTP several weeks back, yet no one said much about it then. Hmm....
goldenstar
It was a response to George Stephanopolous (sic) question re Israel and its rights and interests.
politics is politics....but with obama in office i feel that i am an american even though i might not be a white evangelical.
for the past 8 years prior to obama, i felt very alienated from my country.

you, me and a whole lot of others. I was watching my DVD of Barbra S. when she said, "I hope come Nov.7th I this song will be true" and she belted out HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN! That's exactly how I felt on the night that President Obama was announced the winning candidate. It's like a new country. The people who are so hateful are always going to be that way....but they too have found the ability to be able to speak out about their hatred and nobody is saying "if you don't like it you can leave. You want to holler "Free at Last!" It's like we had been in jail for 8 years and forced to listen to stupid talk and deal with stupid actions. Things may not be what we want them to be yet, but thank God, they ain't what they were.

Consider that fact that adults over hmmmm 25-30 remember news before fox news. We generally have a conception of what real reporting is. But I fear for the next generation. I can't even imagine what must be going through the minds kids raised on Glen Beck and Sean Hannity. I even find myself not wanting my kids to watch Keith Obermann for fear that they would think that "performance" was real news. I often turn to PBS's the news hour and say: "this what the news use to be like."
As a society we are becoming increasingly ideologically isolated both physically and digitally. Having entire networks dedicated to right or left wing agendas is only exacerbating the "parallel universe syndrome, where fox watcher are convinced that Obama is a Leftist revolutionary while some on the left think Obama is a breath away from being a republican. But, Fox has clearly lead the polarization charge.
I was surprised when a moderate conservative told me he had determined that all 3 major networks were basically against Obama for different reasons. He watched Fox and was fed the dogma that CNN and MSNBC where Liberal havens. He was shocked to find how much criticism of Obama fills the MSNBC air time.

I, being older than you, remember when the news was an education in the English language....not now. The job was that the newsperson gave the news and allow you to draw your own conclusions, not their opinions. Although I am a firm believer in free speech, I think that news people have taken some things too far in what they have said about the office of the President of the United States. I can't rememer when such vile and evil things have been said about a sitting President. I do realize that a lot of jokes were made about W, but I don't remember hearing actual hatred spewed by the media. It amazed me how Wanda Sykes was criticised for going too far before the media dinner could end; yet not once have I heard the media say that right wing talk radio, Fox news or anyone else who has been so vile towards our president, has gone too far. I am still amazed at how the media seems to try to glamorize and extol ignorance though a woman like Sarah Palin. This woman is stupid and ignorant and they are just crazy about her. I remember the time someone like this would have been run off stage and they are all running around behind her as if she is a statesman! What has happened to this country? This woman is on the cover of TIME magazine! For what? She couldn't even finish a position that she swore to uphold. What is so great about her? Why is it necessary for this country to laud ignorance and its followers? Is having elected a Black President so terrible that it is necessary now to listen to and extol the ignorant, the minority, the racist? What has happened to us. This woman refered to an office in the White House as the Law something or other. I can't even remember what she called it. She would have been VP of this nation and there are people who are upset that she wasn't......with all of her ignorance! And she is stupid. Her speeches are all "word salads" and they run behind her and hang on to her every word,,,,,not understanding most of it. Can you even imagine her abroad as a representative for our country? They woud be laughing all in our faces and quoting her left and right and people here would be saying we love her cause she is just like us.......Picture it: Good Lord! Oh well, I had my say.
Yep, that's FoX News alright. All hate for Obama all the the time.

VH1 The Great Debate...
Guiltiest Pleasure, Reality Show: Flavor of Love vs Rock of Love. Neither for me. Couldn't stand none of them
Better Royal Lay: William vs Harry. Honestly William is probably the hottest, but aside from Harry's nazi Halloween get-up, he seems like he'd be more fun. But William definitely hotter!
Best TV Housekeeper!!!! Ms Garrett (Facts of Life) vs Alice (Brady Bunch). This was tough, but I'm gonna go with Ms Garrett. She just seemed like more fun. For some reason, I see Alice as being a closeted ...drunk. BTW, Charlotte Rae is still alive!
Hot Couple: Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall vs Miss PIggy & Kermit. I know thi i crazy, but I love, love, love Miss Piggy and Kermit
MsKitty
Flavor of Love vs Rock of Love - I watched a roast of Flava Flav once. Does that count?
William vs Harry - Harry. As William ages he looks more and more like his dad, and not in a good way.
Ms Garrett vs Alice - Alice. No contest. You know her and Sam the Butcher were getting freaky with some spanking and role play (LOL).
Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall vs Miss PIggy & Kermit - I have a soft spot for my Muppets, so definitely K&P
Man, what did these guys do? Just say "F*** It! We're not gonna even try anymore"?
It was kinda fun watching them try, but I do like my racist out in the open.
rikyrah
they are who we thought they were

Oh yeah. They just can't hide it anymore.

VH1 The Great Debate: Hour 3
Best Booty: J-Lo vs Beyonce - I'm gonna give it to J-Lo cause that girls booty was frim, Beyonce's not s frism as J-Lo. J-Lo can't sing, but I gotta give it to her.
Jerkiest High School Movie Principal: Breakfast Club vs Ferris Buellers' Day Off.
Who would you rather adopt? Arnold vs Webster. Webster was so cute. Arnold was too flip at the mouth. I woulda been whipping his azz all day.
Ultimat Prime Time Gameshow: Jeopardy vs Wheel of Fortune. For me it's Jeopardy all the way!!!! I love trivia shows. Now as for Alek Trebek vs Pat Sajak. It's Alek Trebrek hands down for me.
Supporting Character who MOST stole the show from the regular cast: Fonzie vs Urkel. This one is no competition. Family Matters at one point became all about Urkel. So much so that they just killed off one of the daughters, and didn't say where the heck she went.
Weepiest TearJerker: Steel Magnolias vs Terms of Endearment. Magnolia is tops for me. Not just because it a "Southern" story (or that I believe it was filmed mainly in my home state of LA), but because it has one of themost bellyaching funny scenes that know of.. SPOILER ALERT: When Julia Roberts character dies (Shelby was her name I think) and Sally Fields is doing her best to earn another Oscar, and I'm all misty eyed and damn near balling, the next scene with Olympica dukakis and Shirley McClain may me laugh so hard!
