Lenny McAllister, young, black and republican posted the following response on the The Hip Hop Republican website. If only Michael Steele had the balls to deliver the same message to the party he “leads”….

“I am appalled that Audra Shay, a candidate seeking the highest office available for grassroots Young Republicans nationally, could support and encourage antiquated, racist language and behavior that has aided in ripping apart the Republican Party and America for decades.

“Although I have not actively campaigned for a candidate in this race, it is clear that I do not advocate, support, or condone the failure of leadership recently exhibited. It is my ardent belief that the Party of Lincoln will return to its proud history of being avant garde regarding freedom, equality, and prosperity. I personally will not rest until the battle of conscience for what’s just within the Republican Party and throughout America has been won by the side of equality sans bigotry. I believe that there are plenty of Republicans and Americans throughout our nation that share this sentiment with me, one that strongly contrasts the one supported by Ms. Shay, especially as we approach our national birthday.

Continuing President Obama’s outreach to Muslims, Senior Advisor to the President Valerie Jarrett spoke at the Islamic Society of North America's 46th Annual Convention. The Convention, themed “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness,” brought together thousands of Muslim Americans to our nation’s capital over the July 4th weekend.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) maintains that it is the largest Muslim American organization in the United States. It was founded more than forty years ago and aims to serve as a meeting place for people and ideas, while building bridges of understanding and cooperation.

In her remarks, Jarrett spoke of the importance of President Obama’s Cairo speech, where he emphasized that the United States and Muslim communities share fundamental values, such as justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of human beings.

She quoted the President in emphasizing the many contributions of Muslim Americans to the United States:

Since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States. They have fought in our wars, served in government, stood for civil rights, started businesses, taught at our universities, excelled in our sports arenas, won Nobel prizes, built our tallest building, and lit the Olympic torch.

She continued by emphasizing that:

I will tell you, it is not always easy to identify American “Muslim” business leaders, scientists, artists, athletes, and so on. Not because there aren’t any, but because there are too many, and they are known for their talents and character – not simply their religion. This is a great thing. It is a reflection of the American dream, which is ultimately rooted in these values that we all share – values that are common to all of humanity. And just as we share common values, we also share common dreams – for security, progress, and opportunity.

After acknowledging the diligent work and great contribution of Muslim Americans to American society, Jarrett encouraged Muslim Americans to respond to President Obama’s call to service. She asked that they participate in United We Serve this summer, and utilize http://www.serve.gov to post service projects and find other opportunities.

Jackson admits it is a list he made, saying: “When I get angry enough I write down what I want to say and what I want to talk about, to set the record straight.

“Cos you get to a point where you get tired of people lying. I get tired of situations like this, where people completely lie on me, and I'm sick of it . . . I want to set the record straight.”

Jackson first denies bleaching his skin. “I'm a black American and I'm proud of it. And I'm honoured of it,” he says. “The bleached skin rumour, which is a rumour. I don't bleach my skin. He adds: “They say-they once said-I wanted a white kid to play me as a child, which was a rumour.”

Then he blurts out: “I'm not gay.” And he adds in faltering, disjointed speech: “Don't judge a person unless you have spoken to them one-on-one, which, which is true. 'Cos what you hear is a lie.”
