Folks, it's an impending perp walk. Nothing else makes sense. Quit to run? Why not stick it out, use her connections to build a campaign machine? Fox news or a book deal? Either entity would want to set things up properly down to the backdrop of the announcement-which would be timed to take the most advantage of the news cycle. If they had a hand in it, she would have a proper speech given in front of officials, with all her family next to her along with her publicist and the company RR people.

Walking out looks better than being tossed out.

Welcome, Facebook User. I bet it was a BBQ, and she just slipped this in between courses. That's why she wasn't surrounded by all her followers, family, and office staff.

Of course it's bad news. Nobody makes any announcements on a July 3 Friday before a July 4th Saturday. Nobody is watching news tv, the press is out covering holiday events. You might tell your relatives about a wedding announcement or maybe a promotion over the picnic table, but that's about it.

She may have been warned about a soon-to-be perp walk. If that's the case, she could probably kiss her pension and other perks goodby if she tries to stick it out. However, if she resigns before the Legislature or the court sanctions her, she can keep at least her last two checks and her benefits.

I agree with you 100%. She resonates very deeply with many Americans, and she's going to take the time to build up a formidable following. If I were Obama, I would not underestimate her impact,even though she herself lacks any intellectual heft. If he doesn't watch his flank, he's going to turn around in 2012 to see Palin leading an American legion of millions, who see her as a cultural Joan of Arc. America is entering a period of its history where political parties is becoming subordinate to the cult of celebrity, or at least the cult of personality.
Obama was elected on this, even though he had the gravitas to reinforce his personality, but as we Americans go down this path, the personality will trump the actual job capability. Sarah Palin is riding this wave. She cannot run Alaska, but that doesn't matter to her followers. They love her, and they believe in what she stands for. That will be enough to get to the White House, disconnected to any kind of poiltical affiliation.
I believe that Palin is going to run for president in 2012, and that she will do so iindependent of the Republican Party. Obama would be wise not to underestimate her. Ever hear of the movie “Idiocracy?” Palin's nomination in 2012 would represent the dumbing down of America, but in this cult of personality, she may have the edge. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Sanford to reveal schedule details
Governor to reverse practice of past six years in wake of fallout from secret trips, affair revelations

Gov. Mark Sanford will begin making his schedule available to the public and the media, his office said Thursday, a marked departure from the way the office has operated the past 6½ years.

Sanford’s office routinely has resisted disclosing the governor’s daily plans, often citing security concerns.

However, documents obtained by The State show Sanford had a growing habit of shedding his security detail to leave the Governor’s Mansion, departing solo 38 times last year and 39 times so far this year, including his recent trip to Argentina.

“Under the circumstances, the governor clearly understands the need to be more transparent about his schedule (than) what he has done in the past, or (than) what is required by law,” said Joel Sawyer, Sanford’s spokesman."

I know alot of you will think I'm nuts, but, I listened to Palin's diatribe twice today and all I hear is her doing a "marytr" type thing that will go along way with some of the idiots in this country. She talks about wasting peoples money as a "lameduck" because you know she won't run again for gov because she wants to run for pres.

I just don't buy all the pundits crap going on. Yesterday I thought Palin wouldn't run for president, but, now I just don't know.

Yes I heard Andrea Mitchell claim her sources say Palin is out of politics forever....I'm not buying it yet.
