When Sessions told Judge Sotomayor that the nation was "much bigger than the Bronx and South Carolina", he was calling Sotomayor a "spic" in code. He only threw in the reference to South Carolina to make his insult a bit less obvious.

The camera's went to Sotomayor for reaction, and her facial reaction was one of subdued disbelief and contempt.

Had Sessions not added his own state to the comment, it would have been the discussion of the day for a week or more. It would have been the money quote from the entire hearings. The idea that a Senate without a single elected Black member, confirming Justices to a court that is 78% white male, is afraid to put ONE Latina on the court because white people will suffer discrimination - now that's laughable!

I seee. My point was that I AM a Detroiter. I know all about Highland Park and it don't hold a candle to what we endured as BLACK folks!!
HighlandPark was STILL a BURB!! So, whatEVER he meant by the demographics don't mean a darn thing compared to the OVERALL picture of BLACKS in Detroit.

The point is that those Senators STILL hold sway! They STILL spewing HATE.

I know full well there were no HMONG in HP..BUT so?
We as blacks suffered long b4 those HMONG came here!!

I guess I need to re-watch this film. I purchased it in HD Blu-ray because I was expecting a reprisal of the SFPD and all I saw was a man who was willing to pay his money to be able to revise every dirty, nasty, thought and word ever used in the history of this nation against minorities. I was totally displeased with the film and wish I had my money back. I guess I need to see it again.

I did not watch the movie. But I did live in Highland Park Michigan for a short time. Highland Park is a poster child for urban decay. It was sustained for years by the Ford Plant, but when the plant closed the town started downhill. The third rate stores on Woodward (the main street) became filthy and crappy until they closed. The final nail in the coffin was when the “adult” theaters and strip clubs moved into the city. The mayor was beyond corrupt. The city went broke several times. The police and fire departments were merged into a public safety department. All the motels closed. except for hooker motels. A serial killer stalked the streets during the late 70s. All the hospitals closed. The tax base went to near zero.
Grand River and Joy – damn – thats the high end compared to Highland Park.
In recent years most of the old stores have been torn down and some nice strip malls with good parking have been built. But the town is still broke and abandoned houses are everywhere.
When I came back to town after college, I even considered getting an apartment in Highland Park (it was dirt cheap). But instead moved to Second and Selden (yep – if you know Detroit, you know that was cheap also. Anyone trying to maintain property in Highland Park without basic city services would have been bitter.
Not sure what Sessions and the rest of your rant has to do with Highland Park. And there were NO Hmong in Highland Park.

Mike Rogers is a blogger in the manner of Matt Drudge, but in a good way.

He "outs" gay politicos who vote for anti-gay legislation and denigrate other gays, while being gay and in the closet themselves.

He got a tip about Larry Craig being caught soliciting in the men's bathroom at Minneapolis International Airport. Also was instrumental in outing a few other anti-gay congressmen who had homosexual lovers, like Mark Foley, the pedophile preying upon young male pages in the halls of the House - while people like former Sen. John Warner was covering up Foley's misdeeds and inappropriate behavior with the male pages.

He pissed off the Log Cabin Republicans by challenging how they could support anti gay politicos. They didn't like it, so he started campaigns to out them, to expose their hypocracy.
