I think part of the challenge for the Dem party is that it does compromise all the disparate issues NOT under the GOP. Folks are not so much bound by ideology as DEmocrats but are up under the 'big tent' of Democrat based on their political issue of interest.

Thus, we get all this whining about DOMA, since many of those individuals are solely interested in that politically, and only were drawn to the Democratic party based on that. They focus solely on their single interest and have no appreciation for the scope of national problems that impact ALL Americans.

You know they are the kind of folks who would save the photo album if the house was on fire, instead of working to put the fire out. And in the end they would be happy because of all the sentimental memories in that album. Now, no one would disagree on the value of cherished memories...but damn...you LET the house burn rather than help put out the fire?

See folks like that are so narcissitic, it doesn't matter what line of reasoning you use...all they care about are their pictures.

It is focused on healthcare, jobs, banking crisis, mfgring crisis and 2 wars.

These are the fiercely urgent needs of the nation. Not your 'now wants'.

Just cause he is not focused where you want it doesn't mean that he is not focused where he needs to be to meet the fiercely urgent needs of the nation.

Well, according to what we're being told…by Obama… there is no healthcare reform without the public option. What, is he playing chess again?:)). I mean, the one thing he has to know is that the “far lefties” aren't going to stop pushing. Is he “Sister Soulja-ing” the lefties for the benefit of the Blue Dogs, knowing all the while that the “far lefties” will keep pushing, if not push harder…and he actually wants them to keep pushing?

Yeah, that's the ticket;).

Well said, I can't stand Bush and his cronies but one thing I'll give them credit for is that they had an agenda they didn't give a $hit what the democrats thought. They pushed their agenda and the Repubs in Congress were on board. End of story. Democrats were spineless when they were out of power and they are still spineless now that they control.

If 4 years from now we look back and the Obama Democrats don't accomplish health care reform, fix the economy and a climate bill but repealed DADT, DOMA and pursued bush officials that will be a complete failure.

That would be like Micheal Jordan and bulls being happy about winning a playoff game and not winning the Championship.

didn't the bush administration openly admitted that it tortured? didn't we have former officials come forward admitting every nasty detail about what happened? didn't we have a 9/11 truth commission? what is it that you need to know that you don't already know?

President Obama already reversed laws and implemented policies to make sure that doesn't happen in future. Going back to the past 8 years is not necessary.

Obama promised to close guantanamo yet the senate blocked it 90-6. I think that he will get the most hell coming from those blue dogs. I agree with you that we shouldn't be wasting our time prosecuting the past administration for alleged crimes that they got away with, but now we want retribution

It's Moses and the Israelites all over again. It took the children of Israel 40 YEARS to get to the Promised Land (an eleven-day trip) because the whole way all they did was gripe and complain to Moses. And he was hearing DIRECTLY FROM GOD! Forty Years!!!! To make an eleven day trip. Some even said that they would rather go BACK TO EGYPT than keep on with Moses (sound familiar?) I can't tell you how many times I've read posts that said they'd rather have NO healthcare reform at all other than a plan without a public option. Now I am ALL for a public option, believe you ME. That's what I want! But if it turns out that's not what happens, I'm going to keep pressing on! I'm not going to give up. Not on President Obama, not on the fight. Not on myself. You can keep going around the same dumb mountain in the wilderness for God-knows-how-many-more years if you want to. But me, I'm going to exercise patience and keep on following Obama who IMHO is doing a lot more on many issues in SIX MONTHS than any other President.
