This picture of the President and his family arriving in Ghana and the descendants of our ancestors welcoming them is a wonderful sight to behold for this 62 yr. old woman of color, however, it is equally frightening for many in this society. We haven't seen anything yet as they (racists/those on the fence/average white person/house Negroes)find it increasingly difficult to find smoke screens and other devices to hide their true feelings. In fact we are beginning to see just the tip of the iceberg now. Dr. Francis Cress Welsing may have a point with her "Cress Theory of Color Confrontation" although she was vilified for it.

Milbank, Flashing H. Clinton Photo: "We Won't Tell You Who's Getting A Bottle Of "Mad Bitch" Beer
I'm not a Hilpatine fan, but I loathe Dana Milbank. Someone's got to put out a video of this frat boy prick.
Wendy Murphy, attorney and spokeswoman for Lucia Whalen, said today that Gates had sent her client a bouquet of flowers as an "expression of gratitude.'' Murphy, who is not a gardener, said she believed it was a bouquet of tulips. The flowers came with a note from Gates, the contents of which Murphy would not disclose.
Angelar
Kudos to Prof. Gates...now that is class.
Sepia
When Gates appeared on CNN's Black In America 2 Pre-show, he said that he was greatful that she called 911 and would send her flowers. Good to see he followed through.
But the person who owes her several bouquets is Crowley for lying on her.
spirit_55z
Folks want us to pipe down about Crowley, but I'm not having it.
The MSM has been mum on the fact that this mofo LIED and FALSIFIED that police record. He gets absolutely NOTHING from me.
Gates and President Obama get called out as the enemy. FUCK THAT!
Crowley's a LIAR and a RACIST pig, and he should be banished to a desk job at a minimum.
khrish
I, too, have been concerned that the media is not pounding the story that this officer filed a false report. I want to know what happens to officers who file false reports. No one seems to be even talking about the fact that he lied and the bothers me.
morphus
Really, its larger than Gates and Crowley.
What haven't entered the conversation also is the fact that racial profiling had recently been a focus of discussion in Cambridge (Aug 08 and Mar 09). So, it is not surprising that Gates would raise the issue of racial profiling.
In Aug 08, there was a student and faculty blow-up on the same issue, then, Harvard Univ. Pres. form a committee to review their concerns. After this blowup the police dept decides to form another committee to review their dept.
Everybody is studying and reviewing what Prof. Ogletree said he been intervening and involved in for more than 20 years. What more needs to happen before serious steps are taken to resolve a 20 yr old problem?

Obama ON IT!!
"What better way to demonstrate a change from the bad old days of the politicized Justice Department than to appoint as US attorney one of the people who was fired from that job as part of the Bushies' purge?
The White House has announced that Daniel Bogden, who in late 2006 was fired by the Bush administration as U.S. attorney for the district of Nevada, has been re-nominated for that position. "
Pretending to be a couple of cranky old guys, the Washington Post's Dana Milbank and Chris Cillizza riff that Hillary Clinton is a "Mad Bitch," showing that maybe there's not much pretending involved. Painful to watch on almost every level.
morphus
The odd couple team of Rep. Pete King (R-NY) and Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) have sold the House on their resolution calling for a pardon of the great and unfairly maligned African-American heavyweight champion Jack Johnson, who was forced to emigrate to Europe for marrying a white woman.
The resolution briefly stalled when Congressional Black Caucus members expressed their pique at King, a boxing fan who occasionally laces on the gloves, for declaring Michael Jackson a child molester and all-around-perv.
But Jackson, a MJ admirer who actually enjoys a pretty decent relationship with the Long Island conservative, unclogged the bill, which passed unanimously on Wednesday.
It calls for President Obama to pardon Johnson for his 1913 conviction of violating the infamous Mann Act, which has been amended but not overturned.
The Senate passed a similar measure earlier this year; It's not clear if Obama plans to go along with the pardon.
In 2004, filmmaker Ken Burns helped form the Committee to Pardon Jack Johnson as he was working on "Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson."
King, who has been pushing for the resolution, urged the first African-American president to clear the name of the first black heavyweight champ: "I urge the president to do the right thing and take the final step and grant his pardon."It's about time, hope it will not take as long for MJ's resolution.

Media Matters bought air time for anti-Lou Dobbs ads to be broadcast on CNN....during Lou's show!
A Media Matters spokesman tells me the group has bought a week of ad time on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News in D.C., New York, and Atlanta, beginning Tuesday. The catch: Media Matters has specifically purchased time to air the ad during Dobbs' show -- putting CNN in the position of either running the spot or nixing it and making this a bigger story
Media Matters, which has been attacking CNN for not reining in Lou Dobbs’ birther obsession, has now purchased air time to run a TV ad attacking “CNN’s Lou Dobbs problem” — during Dobbs’ show!
A Media Matters spokesman tells me the group has bought a week of ad time on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News in D.C., New York, and Atlanta, beginning Tuesday. The catch: Media Matters has specifically purchased time to air the ad during Dobbs’ show — putting CNN in the position of either running the spot or nixing it and making this a bigger story.
Here’s the script of the spot:
TITLE: CNN’s Dobbs Problem –- 30 Sec.
Chyron: CNN Has a Lou Dobbs Problem
Voice Over: CNN’s Lou Dobbs has been promoting the false, right-wing conspiracy that President Obama hasn’t produced a valid U.S. birth certificate.
Clips: A series of short clips of Dobbs saying “birth certificate”
Voice Over: CNN President Jon Klein said Dobbs’ obsession was “legitimate.”
Clips: Another series of short clips of Dobbs saying “birth certificate”
Voice Over: It’s time for “The Most Trusted Name in News” to live up to its slogan. Let CNN know there’s nothing “legitimate” about racially charged paranoia.
CNN, obviously, hasn’t yet been informed of the ad’s content. It seems that Media Matters’ goal is to get CNN’s competitors to pick up on the story as news, to bait CNN into responding, and to foment internal tensions over Dobbs within the network. Media Matters has been closely documenting the Dobbs/birther story, and this is a real escalation. It’ll be interesting to see how CNN and Dobbs react.
***************************************
Update: A statement from Media Matters president Eric Burns earlier this afternoon gives more context:
“Between the reaction from other media figures and the crashing of Dobbs’ ratings, CNN is making a mockery of its claim to being ‘the most trusted name in news.’ CNN can’t continue to condone Dobbs’ birther coverage and expect to be taken seriously. Jon Klein owes viewers — and his network — more.”

Lou Dobbs, the Birthers and the Cable News Crack-Up — By Sridhar Pappu | Thu July 30, 2009 1:09 PM PST
A few years back, during the height of illegal immigration-mania, I spent a considerable amount of time for this magazine with the man who seemed to stand for the great fear that this nation was under attack from across the border, that we were losing control of our sovereignty, and that our national agenda was being determined by Mexican President Vicente Fox. That man was Lou Dobbs.
Truth to tell, I kind of liked Dobbs. During our time together—which included staff meetings and live broadcasts, after-work drinks and even a trip to a Hispanic journalists’ convention in Miami—I found Dobbs to be terribly myopic but also blunt, a man who knew he had come from little and now appreciated that he had a lot. He called me pard’ner and loved a dirty martini.
Now, with Dobbs’ border war on the brink of irrelevancy, he has returned to the limelight with another grave concern—the birth certificate of President Barack Obama. The so-called "birther" movement, which demands that Barack Obama prove that he’s really, um, an American citizen, has been debunked by every sane political journalist, as well as officials from the Hawaii Department of Health. But it’s become the centerpiece of Dobbs’ nightly news program and his daily radio broadcast.
"MoveOn has produced a hard-hitting ad that will be unleashed in the districts of any Blue Dog Dems who vote against the House Dems’ health care bill in committee today — a warning shot that’s intended to preview the broader ad campaign that will target Blue Dogs who continue to block reform throughout August"
"Lt. Col. Holly Silkman, a spokeswoman for SOCCENT, said the Army couldn’t let Cook’s critical engineer billet be hijacked by further legal wrangling. Cook was scheduled to deploy on July 15, and his position cannot sit empty.
The officer Cook was supposed to replace “is going to have to remain in Afghanistan a while longer,” Silkman said, noting the Army is seeking a replacement. “No one has been identified yet, but it is a priority fill, so we’re working on it and expect to fill it soon. Engineers are in high demand.”

Send his ass to Leavenworth with a dishonorable discharge,That is all.
So this major plays this birther game and who receives the brunt of his bullshit... the officer in Afghanistan
Maj. Stefan Cook places his hand on Ellen Gilmore, a self-proclaimed concerned citizen, outside of the federal courthouse in Columbus, Ga., earlier this month. She thanked him for having “the courage to stand up for the Constitution of the United States.”
Standing up for the Constitution? He would've taken his ass to Afghanistan and performed his duties as an officer.

This Honolulu Advertiser announcement of Barack Obama’s Aug 4, 1961 birth was published August 13, 1961 on page B-6.
It is available only on microfilm in Hawaii libraries. It has never been posted online in spite of the extensive controversy over Obama’s birth certificate. The announcement is 4th from the bottom of the left hand column. Click to enlarge. Can't vouch for the claim that this is a true copy of the Honolulu Advertiser announcement but it will be interesting to know that one Lou Dobbs can be shutdown.

LOVIN that picture. That's MY President!!!

The Luck of Chris Dodd.
Today, Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) informed the public that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will have surgery during the August recess.
Senator Dodd is a lucky man. He is lucky in two respects. First, the cancer was caught early, meaning his quality of life and lifespan are greatly enhanced over those of men diagnosed at an advanced stage of the disease.
Senator Dodd is also lucky (as all members of Congress are) to be covered by an excellent government-operated health care program. His provider covers his surgery, as well as the preventative checkups that saved Sen. Dodd's health, as well as the thousands of dollars he (or his provider) would have paid to treat an advanced version of the disease with multiple surgeries, treatments, and drugs.
Nuisance Industry's diary :: :: Dodd's full statement:
Dear Friend,
I wanted to let you know that I've been diagnosed with an early stage of prostate cancer.
This diagnosis is very common among men my age. In fact, one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point during their life.
Luckily, a routine test allowed my doctor to catch it at a very early stage, and my prognosis is excellent - we expect a full and speedy recovery.
I want to assure you that I'm feeling fine. As you know, we've been working hard to pass health care legislation and reform our nation's financial system to protect consumers, and that hard work will continue.
After the Senate adjourns at the end of next week, I'll have surgery to remove the cancer. After a week or two of recuperation, I expect to be right back to work.
After all, as a Member of Congress, I have great health insurance. I was able to get screened, seek the opinions of highly skilled doctors, consider all the available options, and choose the treatment that was right for me.
And I know you'll agree that every American deserves the same ability.
We have health care legislation to pass - and an election to win. And I can't thank you enough for your support.
"neither is highlighting his condition to prove a point. I'll just start drinking now in preparation for that ad"
Get a prostate check up instead. You in the high risk group.
Lilytiger
Must disagree. The point is something that happens in real life. It isn't an imaginary person who now will have the government dictate who he shall see, if he's old enough to bus to the boonies to die....
morphus
IIRC, CA Nurses Assoc. made a similar point earlier (before health ins reform debate), regarding Congressperson healthcare versus average Joe or Jane insurance.
I'm talking about Sen. Dodd making the point himself. I don't think that's appropriate.
I know, it's politics...but that doesn't make it any more right, in my book.
djchefron
But outright lying about Government Healthcare is appropiate?
TruthSeeker
His cancer, his right to use it as he sees fit.
Is this another case of the right wing protecting his tumour from exploitation, like they claim to protect the unborn?
Lilytiger
LOL!!!
RobM
Remember Terri Schiavo as well.
whiterosebuddy
'"m talking about Sen. Dodd making the point himself. I don't think that's appropriate."
Why not? He has the best health care GOVERNMENT provided. What better case could there be? He is no longer speaking as someone with benefits but someone who is USING those taxpayer provided benefits.
That's almost as bad as dragging your kids into the political spotlight.
whiterosebuddy
Naw. Kids are not the public servant, but if they had health conditions that might not qualify or were exteremely expensive and were coverd because Dodd is a Senator with health coverage we all would die for,,,then...
it would be OK.
Lilytiger
Why not make something good about having cancer. Best thing this cancer is going to do!
morphus
I understand what you saying, but it seem civilies are no longer in daily discourse. And, not to make comparisons but, if a 11 y/o can be taken to task, we have arrived at a point where there are literally no longer boundaries.
And, thanks, I slowly realized the point you were making earlier.
whiterosebuddy
"we have arrived at a point where there are literally no longer boundaries."
Why should there be boundaries when it comes to taxpayer provided benefits for healthcare. Dodd needs to tell theWORLD how good his taypayer GOvERNMENT benefits are.
Cause the avg American, that he REPRESENTS, don't have what he has.
If we can provide that for HIm, why then can't we those same taxpayers, have it for ourselves?
Speak up DODD! Say it LOUD!s Tell America..you GOT what they DON't!
