TMI, I'm really tired of Sanford sharing his sex chronicles with the media. I don't care to hear about the sexual exploits of 60-year-old caucasians. If I wanted to learn more about the sexual habits of senior citizens, I'd watch the Golden Girls.

Truth be told – I never got into the bullshit goings on with Michael Jackson, his family, etc. I just thought he could be strange as hell.

So I'm looking at the pictures of him when he was small and growing up and wondering what possessed him to so drastically change his looks. Something pathologic worked his poor soul. Then I read something, somewhere, that mentioned 'the severe abuse meted out by Joe Jackson, especially towards Michael, and all the surgeries to erase any physical resemblance between him and the man he despised.' Now see – that I could understand because I know about despising your father and the why of it.

So – Michael – the mess is here. Michael is at peace somewhere, happy & free. And Joe Jackson – he'll get his. Karma comes around, yes, it sure does.

Ohmigawd! I loved that show with Annie Potts and Lorraine Toussaint. Lorraine is on 'Grace' TNT/TBS? I can never what network it is. Holly Hunter plays Grace Hannadarco – cop – and Lorraine is 'the captain' I believe. She's in charge that's all I know.

Was the scene in The Color Purple with Shug Avery singing at the juke joint (and the fight that unfolded) coonery? No, that was high art, right? I'm looking forward to Precious (with Monique) in the fall and how it will be judged by us. Is it coonery or reality?

There needs to be a balance. Entertainment should be provocative, otherwise it's not entertainment. Having read the comments, I think most of us are seeking more dramas and fewer comedies.

However, the economics of Hollywood makes it easier to produce sitcoms rather than hourlong-dramas. You see that NBC just gave it's 10-oclock to hour to boring-ass Jay Leno, because it's cheaper to produce.

If you ask most of the black directors/actors/writers, of course they want to do more “high brow” work. Tyler Perry is always saying (paraphrasing), “I'm going to change it up, do more intellectually challenging films.” But does the majority of “us” really want to see more intellectually challenging films?

I'm with everyone who wants to raise the bar, but the bar can only be held-up for so long without the financial support of ourselves + the mainstream (yeah, I said it–it's going to take more than “us,” just as surely as it took more than “us” to get PBO elected). In order for Precious to be a huge success, Oprah and Tyler are going to be selling the heeL out of it this fall.

How you define minstrelry is also relative to who you are. Anyone who watches TrueBlood on HBO might dismiss the acting by Rutina Wesley (who plays Tara) as Minstrelsy. But Rutina, imho, is one of the best actresses I've seen in my life.

All of this mess TMZ is writing and these “celebrity” legal experts are saying is nothing more than continuing to further defame MJ over his children which is sad in and of itself.

If they can name all these supposed parents of the children from their “sources”….then they also need to name who else was taking care of children, providing their shelter and so forth…..if these media types can't provide any other names related to THAT then they need to STFU

If the 3 kids aren't legally Mikes, Katherine will inherit ALL of the money either thru the Will/next of kin and ensure that Mike's children are well taken care of. I am sure MJ expressed that to her.

I just bought another one today “Salvation in Death” from her J.D. Robb series. The TV deals don't do her books justice but . . can't be mad at them . . . she got paid so . . ..

Back to your comment — The problem Rikyrah is the lack of good scripts. I try to get into black authors that write similar genre but I just can't. I haven't found any that I was remotely interested in. Now if anyone could refer a few good authors I would be glad to check them out and support them by buying the books . . .maybe BET has a similar problem. just a thought.
