I don't remember where I read this, but back in the day when other groups and black millionaires tried to setup an alternative to BET, Johnson would use all his clout to destroy their efforts.

Let's not give credit to those who don't deserve it. Neither Jay-Z nor Al Sharpton had anything to do with Brown being pulled. It was Cover Girl, the program's sponsor. That would've been the pot calling to kettle black. And they let Cornelius speak who has himself been arrested last year for domestic battery so don't get it twisted.

I get the point of including this piece but his rebuttal is offensive to me on so many level. Why can't he make his complaints without the liberal use of profanity and racial slurs? BET already dragged us through the mud, his retort just keeps it at gutter level. We're intelligent people and don't need to be addressed in such a vulgar way. Was he drunk when he wrote this?

Clinton as VP because he needed someone to lead him. I can't stand him.

“Bob Johnson and his crew never setup BET to be the Black CNN or anything productive for the Black community.” What an opportunity missed. Mr. Johnson obviously believes Black people are debased mentally and he gave them what they wanted. However, there are enough millionaires among us to spearhead a legitimate cable channel. One can only hope.

I have one thing for the Concerned Black Class.

I don't why everyone is busting sweats and having heart attacks over anything on BET. It's time to come to terms that when BET does something, it isn't going to be done right. Bob Johnson and his crew never setup BET to be the Black CNN or anything productive for the Black community. BET was setup to make money. It's the media equivalent of the LA Clippers or Detroit Lions. No matter how bad they get, they'll get enough people engaged to make a profit.

I don't want to make excuses for the "N' Syndrome" of a network, but it seems that they tried to put on a Jackson Tribute concert and their regularly scheduled award show. A normal organization would either make it all about Jackson and hand out a few awards in between or do two separate shows.

I would have preferred they do two shows, so that the proper time and effort could be put into making sure both came out right. But that would require BET to spend more money, which they hate to do. So in the end the show was schizophrenic - part shameful and outrageous, part entertaining, part watchable, part hot ugly mess. And it made money, so BET could care less how bad it was.

I think so, it is just not an option that is well known, cause the cable companies don't want folks to know that.

But the FCC ruled against them determining what networks are bundled.
