Yep, this isht is what's going on with some of today's so-called “top artists”.

As far as I'm concerned, when band camp commences at Famu, Bama State, Hampton, Howard, Grambling, Southern, TN St., Al A&M, Skeegee, NC A&T, Jackson St, etc….DAMMIT IT BETS TO BE NUTHIN BUT MICHAEL JACKSON FROM MORNIN TILL NIGHT – freshmen better come in and the first piece of sheet music they get better be “I Want You Back”!!

Seriously, there are enough songs between MJ and the Jackson 5 that a radio station wouldn't even repeat a song for 3 or 4 days!! Why aren't they recognizing!?!?! This is a prime opportunity to teach the babies about actual songs that mean some shit instead of this dreadful crap by the likes of Hurricane Chris!

What gives Orth the creds to paint the idea that Michael Jackson dying the way he did was”good” the way he'd want to die?

Because Jackson had been quoted variously as saying that he was going to go like Elvis, or that he was expecting it, or that it would not be so bad. Even Lisa Marie Presley spoke of his morbid thoughts, and she was married to him, as well as being a friend since childhood. Orth and Diane Dimond merely reported on things like this like everyone else. Both of these reporters followed and examined the cases to the point where they are considered experts on them.

You could say that the panel–I saw it too–was trying to temper the mood of the fans, not damn Michael with faint praise, so to speak. His personal life was hell, and in a lot of ways, he was responsible for that hell. It's a cautionary note that when we say we want to be like somebody (John Belushi, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe), to take care that we don't give in to the darkness that destroyed them.

Like I said, Saint Timmeh was no favorite of mine. And while I think that I feel Michael's loss, my view of him is not like those who are sitting in the street, bemoaning their loss(es) (I'm sure that Jackson isn't the only thing they've lost this year) with nothing out there to help them to listen to reason.

I remember when he had a nose.

I remember when he told us to get it together or leave it alone, and to keep on looking through the windows.

I remember when he was the Scarecrow in The Wiz.

I remember the Motown 30th Anniversaryon TV, when he did the moonwalk.

Nice write up H&F…Sanford is definitely her own woman. She is independently wealthy, a Georgetown graduate and former WallStreet Exec…the woman knows who and what she is…in fact..she is quoted as saying 'I didn't think he had it in him”…after he requested to go see Maria and she said..NO and threw his but out.

I am particularly impressed by her focus on her children's character. It has to be a awful burden to raise FOUR sons, knowing their father is an adulterer to respect not only women, but themselves as well. She is focused and I believe she will be successful even though she will need some type of male role model for them, hopeful she has good brothers.

BTW, the second sentence in the last paragraph should reads 'weigh sacrifices' instead of outweigh.

I think what makes MJ extraordinary amongst genius musical talent is that he is multigenerational..he spans more than one generation, unlike Elvis and the Beatles…that is what makes him so transcendent. There is no other musical talent of the modern era with that type of span…we have to go all the way back to Beethoven to find one.

Interestingly, as a child musical prodigy, he also had a father who was a stern taskmaster and disciplinarian.
