Today's Conversation Jenny Sanford New Role Model for Women Who've Had Enough http://tinyurl.com/nu6fzq
whiterosebuddy
Nice write up H&F...Sanford is definitely her own woman. She is independently wealthy, a Georgetown graduate and former WallStreet Exec...the woman knows who and what she is...in fact..she is quoted as saying 'I didn't think he had it in him"...after he requested to go see Maria and she said..NO and threw his but out.
I am particularly impressed by her focus on her children's character. It has to be a awful burden to raise FOUR sons, knowing their father is an adulterer to respect not only women, but themselves as well. She is focused and I believe she will be successful even though she will need some type of male role model for them, hopeful she has good brothers.
BTW, the second sentence in the last paragraph reads 'weigh sacrifices' instead of outweigh.
Miranda
Jenny Sanford is bout to be a cult shero...LOL
whiterosebuddy
Yepper. Four little boys, too? Sanford looks sooo bad every time folks see that picture.
U. of I. admissions scandal: Pressure builds on university Lawmaker calls for resignations of top officials By Sara Olkon and Jodi S. Cohen | Tribune reporters June 27, 2009
Alumni and public officials reacted with everything from anger to shrugs Friday as they heard new e-mail revelations about the intertwining of clout and admissions at the University of Illinois law school.
Documents released Thursday showed that in a four-year period the law school enrolled at least 24 "special interest" students -- individuals who gained admission under the sway of the politically connected. And in one e-mail exchange, the chancellor appeared to be seeking jobs for law school graduates in exchange for the admission of a student with poor credentials but the backing of the governor, documents show.
State Rep. Mike Boland (D-East Moline), chairman of the state House Higher Education Committee, renewed calls Friday for the resignation of U. of I. Chancellor Richard Herman, Trustee Lawrence Eppley and any high-ranking officials involved in giving special treatment to well-connected students.
Boland says he is troubled that at least a half-dozen people were copied on e-mails regarding efforts to secure the jobs, but none of the documents released show anybody objecting to it.
"Where were the trustees?" Boland said. "That's their job, to protect the university. These people's attitudes kind of floor me."
Alumnus Martin Tasch, a graduate of the law school class of 1985, in private practice in Chicago and Oak Brook, called the revelations "very disappointing."
"It's unfortunate but not surprising because of the climate of Illinois politics," Tasch said. "U. of I. is considered one of the top law schools in the country, and I hope it doesn't tarnish its reputation."
But Jason DeJonker, who graduated in 2000 and practices bankruptcy and financial restructuring for Seyfarth Shaw, said he didn't think the U. of I. handled the situation differently than any other school.
"I think those kind of things happen at every university in the United States," he said. "I don't even know if it bothers me that much. I guess I am just more realistic."
U. of I. spokesman Thomas Hardy said it is too soon to say whether anybody will be held accountable. "The commission process will move forward, and I think all of this will be reviewed as the [state admissions] commission issues its findings and recommendations."
Sounds like white protectionism as per usual, but if this had been about "passing thru" a bunch of Black students this would be on Fixed Noise right now. They're lawyers and should know these emails aren't secure. Nothing will be done about it either - except some students may think about attending another school (where they probably do the same thing). Wasn't Bush a C student? Does anyone still think he actually got C's? Plus your town has a particular style of corruption. That was made clear to me even after being there for one day!!
and he was pretty.damn.big in life. So you know he is going to be HUUUUUGE in death.
Miranda
They're not playing it enough for me. The program directors at V103, 104.1, 107.5 AND 107.9 bout to get some nasty emails from me and some other folks I know. At least V103 had a fabulous lunchtime mix going...but as far as I'm concerned, it needs to be Michael Jackson/Jackson Five 24-7 till he is buried.
And dammit every HBCU BETTER dedicate every halftime show as well! Especially the big classics!
Dem rattlers better sho-nuff show-out! Co-sign on MJ radio-24-7.
Miranda
You know it!!! As far as I'm concerned, when band camp commences at Famu, Bama State, Hampton, Howard, Grambling, Southern, TN St., Al A&M, Skeegee, NC A&T, Jackson St, etc....DAMMIT IT BETS TO BE NUTHIN BUT MICHAEL JACKSON FROM MORNIN TILL NIGHT - freshmen better come in and the first piece of sheet music they get better be "I Want You Back"!!
Seriously, there are enough songs between MJ and the Jackson 5 that a radio station wouldn't even repeat a song for 3 or 4 days!! Why aren't they recognizing!?!?! This is a prime opportunity to teach the babies about actual songs that mean some shit instead of this dreadful crap by the likes of Hurricane Chris!

3 MUSICAL GENIUSES IN OUR LIFETIME
** Must have made SIGNIFICANT IMPACT thru charismatic performance/composing; had to have international cross over appeal who could make the world go wild. There have ONLY BEEN 3 (period)and in this order:
1-Michael Jackson 2-The Beatles 3-Elvis
Okay, all of the Prince and Elton Fans make your arguments. Do they have the "it" factor?
Val
Prince has "it"
Myth
The 3 musical geniuses have ALL had "it"; that intangible factor that only comes 3 times in a generation. You can't define it, can't really describe it other than to know it's a charismatic quality that draws men to them. Michael is so special because of his raw talent, creative, ability to sing, dance and compose. When he was a teenager, young white girls, in the early 70s, passed stone out over him. What other artist has that happened with? Tell me? Donny Osmond never broke away from his brothers only with Marie. They did go international, but he didn't remain contemporary. The 3 artists I identified had music that has been timeless and outlived them. Donny Osmond's music only attracts a certain age group today. We've learned more about Elvis in the years since he has been dead than while alive. All 3 artists/group had character flaws, but when they took the stage, it was all God-given musical genius. None other compare.
whiterosebuddy
I think what makes MJ extraordinary amongst genius musical talent is that he is multigenerational..he spans more than one generation, unlike Elvis and the Beatles...that is what makes him so transcendent. There is no other musical talent of the modern era with that type of span...we have to go all the way back to Beethoven to find one.
Interestingly, as a child musical prodigy, he also had a father who was a stern taskmaster and disciplinarian.
mon_dieu_ishmael
I think making Michael Jackson #1 is a little over the top. Until "THRILLER" came out I found him unlistenable. And the Jackson 5 were just Osman or Cowsills clones. I still prefer Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Arethra, Louis Armstrong, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, JIMI, among others over M.J. (yeah, I'm old, old school).
Miranda
WHAT?? Stop taking those drugs or get some better ones. That line about the Osmond (you didn't even spell the name right and talking shit) or whoever the hell the Cowsills were is a dead giveaway that you are hallucinating.
Plantsmantx
"And the Jackson 5 were just Osman or Cowsills clones."
Oh, my...it always slips out, doesn't it?
The Jackson 5's first big hit, "I Want You Back", was soul music. Nothing like the Cowsills, which was sort of a pop-folky kind of group, and the inspiration for the Partridge Family, or the Osmond Brothers, who I remember (until they successfully ripped the Jacksons off) appearing on the Andy Williams show in striped jackets and butcher's hats, doing barbershop quartet tunes. The first R&B hit (pre-Motown) the Jacksons had, "Big Boy", was basically a doo-wop ballad. Look up the track listing on their first Motown album, or go listen to their version of Parliament's "I Betcha" off their second album and then come back and tell us they ripped off the...Osmond Brothers?? Are you kidding, or did that "Hey, look at me, I'm not like those other ones" contrarianism kick in involuntarily, like some kind of Tourette's?
Miranda
Are you kidding, or did that "Hey, look at me, I'm not like those other ones" contrarianism kick in involuntarily, like some kind of Tourette's?
OMG.............*dead*
Plantsmantx
I just don't know what else would make him say that, LOL. Yeah, those two groups were family groups, and they were in the public eye before the Jacksons, but how does that make the Jacksons "clones"? It would be just as untrue, but he maybe could have said with at least a tiny bit of fake "credibility" that they were clones of the Five Stairsteps, but the fact that he'd choose the (can't stop laughing) Osmonds and the damn Cowsills is more than telling.
danadevin74
one bad apple had to argue with a girl at work that it wasn't J-5 it was the Osmonds and if that song wasn't a J-5 rip off LOL
OH MY GAWD............The Jacksons should take them to court NOW over that mess...LOL
danadevin74
well the song was offered to the Jacksons first but they turned it down LOL
the music could pass for J-5 but not the voices in my opinion
Sepia
well the song was offered to the Jacksons first but they turned it down LOL
Ah....so, it was like reverse chit'lins?
Miranda
YOU AINT RIGHT!!!! ROFLMAO!!!
mon_dieu_ishmael
cowsills were the family that the tv show "the partridge family" was based upon.
Sepia
If anyone was ripping off anyone, it was the Osmonds ripping off The Jackson 5. The Cowsills? Never heard of 'em and I doubt the Jacksons did either.
danadevin74
actually the Osmonds achieved fame first they were featured on shows like the Andy Williams show from 1962-1969 but they weren't household names it wasn't until the Jacksons achieved stardom first in 1969 that the Osmonds came out as clones in 1971 with one bad apple sounding much like the Jackson 5
and that was the Osmonds downfall they couldn't move pass the bubblegum pop sound and thats why they were left behind and Donny didn't have much solo success they couldn't move past child singers the Jacksons proved they weren't just child stars and that they could write and produce their own material
Miranda
He didn't even spell the OSMONDS name correctly but is trying to pimp the fairytale that the Jacksons ripped off them?? Ya know.....haters really need to just back the fuck up when all they've got is the HATE and not a logical argument in the world.
every time the Osmonds came on TV, I left. Likewise, when a prepubescent M.J. starting singing about "love". Went and listened to "Chain of Fools", or some John Coltrane.
isonprize
Just in case the haters didn't look at the list...
The categories were broken down as follows * 1 Over 100 million copies * 2 40–49 million copies * 3 31–39 million copies * 4 26–30 million copies * 5 20–25 million copies
Michael Jackson is in every category except 40-49.
Maybe that's because "Thriller" is the ONLY ALBUM in the "Over 100 million copies sold" and there isn't a category in between.
Looks like they made a category just for him.
HATERS, we see you...
Sepia
And he sold ALLLLLLLLLL them albums without:
a) deep discounting them so that folks would be induced purchase them
b) the record company buying up albums
Yep, this isht is what's going on with some of today's so-called "top artists".
Miranda
teeheehee.....why you lettin the cat out the bag Sepia?? LOL...that's supposed to be kept undercover.
Miranda
The #2 is 60 million behind.....nuff said.
Myth
Yeah I like 'em all too BUT the criteria is international cross-over appeal. The reason Mike is #1 is because he is the first artist that non-blacks crossed over too. Blacks fell out over the Beatles and Elvis because there were no other choices at the time.
Yeah, I just posted the blog people are getting it from. I don't know if I believe it though, if it were true it would be on more than one website.
Myth
Love Ya Mike! Don't Wanna Let You Go...
"Never can say goodbye No no no no, I Never can say goodbye
Even though the pain and heartache Seems to follow me wherever I go Though I try and try to hide my feelings They always seem to show Then you try to say you're leaving me And I always have to say no...
Marie Kaigler-Reese, a Ph.D student at Michigan State University, said that is not enough. She said the party takes African Americans like herself and trots them out to show they care about blacks but does nothing to address matters like corruption in Detroit’s City Hall.
(Republicans) “are out of touch,” she said, noting her son has become so disenfranchised with the party he has become a Democrat and is running for office in Ohio. “Michael Jackson is dead. God rest his soul. I am not going to be the Michael Jackson of the Republican Party. You will not use me until I am dead.“
Her comments drew thunderous applause from those in attendance and a standing ovation from Steele. He admitted more needs to be done and said the visit is an example of how the party is not giving up on people who may not agree with it.
Source I can't help but wonder why the hell she was there. And Michael Steele is so extra and full of shit.

That is so breathtakingly sad......how pathetic is that quote? It certainly speaks to their mindset. They get the big eye-roll from me.

It's time to televise the Supreme Court By John Amato Saturday Jun 27, 2009 6:45am
This topic comes up once and a while, but I think it's good to get out there again because it's all about transparency. Why won't the Supreme Court allow cameras into the process? I know being on TV could affect some of the court, but if they are so solid in their understanding of the law then why should it matter? We need to be able to see how they conduct themselves and how major decisions are handed down.
Arlen Specter says he will push for cameras in the high court. I think that's a great idea even though Joe Sestak looks to be a solid challenger for his seat and is for the public option also.
I agree. This should be CSpan 5 or something. Not only would it offer transparency it would be educational. I don't need to see how each independently deliberates, but the actual proceedings would be interesting.
Myth
Yeah so we can really see what a binbo Unca Clarence truly is.
Miranda
Good grief...she is so freaking FLAWLESS. Yeah, if I had these legs and that skin y'all couldn't tell me shit either. I'd have a 'tude just on g.p.
Miranda I said the same thing when I saw it. Now that she is older, is Naomi Campbell still toned?
This brings up another subject that crossed my mind about the video. Can we have a real honest discussion about Mike's "assexuality" or do we need to wait until after the funeral?
Naw, y'all I haven't been drinking Mike's Jesus Juice.
pjamma
I will bet money that he and Naomi hooked up. Strait, gay, asexual, everybody wanted Naomi. My gay friends in the 90s have said Naomi would be the woman they would have sex with. She was (and still is) that hot.
Myth
Possibly. Mike was just a boy that got confused over time because he didnt have a childhood. He was the most appealing teenage boy that a girl could want, had all the qualities. The way he looks at women in videos looks legitimate. He has not had one baby-momma come forward that we don't know about, none from the early years. Know men have come forward to say they were lovers. The assexuality thing is still baffling. But so is his relationship with Bubbles. Just got confused with the stardom mess up.
Myth
Breaking News: The Michael Jackson Concert WILL go on. Madonna might take the stage in London.
Major Co-sign! Pay off Mike's bills and leave some money for the 3 kids.
moja31
a tribute concert would be great, if done right; but i can't help but be a bit irked that most of the folks clamoring to participate in these events would have run from him like the plague just last week. so much of it just seems just like more attention whoring from some of these celebs, and i imagine that these shows will end up being more about them and their ego driven nonsense, than really about paying tribute to the legendary entertainer that michael was. i hope the money at least goes to his kids, i really feel for them and how their life has forever been changed.
Sepia
WOW! I never thought about this possibility! It could be an All-Star affair.
Myth, where did you hear about this?
Myth
MSNBC half an hour ago. The are trying to get the all star line up together. I sure hope that it will be a benefit for Mike's bills and children. Now I don't mind Madonna being so choked up.
AND now they are saying there is footage of the rehearsals with new songs. Mike WILL be Martyred and we need to take back NEVERLAND so he can enshrined.
Mike will be bigger in death that ever in Life. You know how that goes (ask Elvis).
pjamma
Just no U2. Who am I kidding, it will be the normal cast of characters plus Madonna. We'll have:
Black Eyed Peas Beyonce Justin Timberlake Elton John live from somewhere else Puffy Mary J. Blige Stevie Wonder A special taped 2009 version of We Are The World with all the original artist. Usher Chris Brown Jonas Brothers A group of child dancers doing the moonwalk Miley Cyrus Rihanna Britney A taped message from Celine Dion U2 Madonna Slash and Lil' Wayne doing "Dirty Diana" at the end of which Diana Ross will appear. She will sing "I'll be There" backed up be the Jacksons.
Jamie Fox and Eddie Murphy will fight over hosting duties.
That's my prediction anyway.
Myth
LMBAO. Just so ALL the money goes to Katherine and the 3 kids, they can bring Bubbles if they want who was Mike's long time companion.
rikyrah
Amd what a concert it would be.
pjamma
There is no denying these artist put on a good show, they just always put on a good show for every event, all the time. They are the KTEL Presents of good shows. I wonder if there are others that could be called upon.
But if it is this group, I wonder who will sing what.
I have Jonas Brothers with ABC, Miley Cyrus with Rokin Robin, Justin doing Remember the Time and Lady in My Life. Chris Brown getting Billy Jean. Usher doing Rock with You. BEPs will do Wanna be Startin Something.
Elton will do one of his own songs dedicated to Mike. The night MJ died Elton preformed "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", dedicated to him. I think that is perfect. Instead of, you know, "Candle in the Wind".
Myth
Now I'm rolling on the floor laughing now. Giirrrlllll!! Candle in the Wind is branded only for Diana. Elton will come if he has a new song to debut, dedicate to Mike and make a whole lotta money off of it he'll be there two.
New genuises: lets bring in Alicia,R. Kelly, India Arie, Josh whats-her-face, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, hell!
pjamma
Please, Elton hasn't had a new song since 1994 (slight exaggeration). He just keeps singing the classics. I don't mind. I still love him. As Vanessa William's character on Ugly Beatty said "give that queen enough money and he'll dedicate 'Candle in the Wind' to anybody."
If Jennifer Hudson sang Ben...I'm tearing up just thinking of it. And Joss Stone could pull of something from the Off the Wall album or before. She does great with soul, not so well with pop.
R. Kelly needs to stay home.
Myth
Ben, the song about the rat, I just never could relate to.
R. Kelly and Rick James have both been modern day geniuses.
Sepia
I would LOVE to hear the new material he was working on.
Myth
ALSO, there was discussion about HOW MANY cities the body would be going to. Gary IN wants him there and London wants him there. This is gonna take longer than James Brown's burial. Maybe they'll bury him by his birthday in August.
Miranda
Certainly you mean by August 2010...LOL
Myth
Hopefully...the more time it takes to make these funeral arrangements, the longer its gonna take to bury him. He might just get counted in the 2010 Census. We need to take time to make him a martyr. TAKE BACK NEVERLAND!
Miranda
"He might just get counted in the 2010 Census."
YOU AINT RIGHT!
BWA HAHAHAHA!!
Miranda
I forget where I read yesterday, but the article stated that the people didnt want refunds, they wanted tribute concerts instead....that's incredible! I'm hoping the biggest names in the biz sign on for it.
Wow, people forget how MJ was LOVED around the world. He was dogged here but everywhere he was IT! They'd sold 2M tickets in 1 hr. Nobody can do that!!

Governor’s Wife Is Hurt but Unbowed
As Jenny Sanford headed off for a boating trip, the day after her husband, Mark Sanford, the governor of South Carolina, told the world he had been unfaithful, she met the throng of reporters waiting outside her South CarolAm I O.K.?” Mrs. Sanford repeated, from the driver’s seat of a vehicle. “You know what? I have great faith and I have great friends and great family.
We have a good Lord in this world, and I know I’m going to be fine. Not only will I survive, I’ll thrive.” It was, friends and former aides say, classic Jenny Sanford — strong willed, steely, anything but a victim. Mrs. Sanford, a former New York investment banker, largely gave up her professional life and turned to helping her husband’s political career, but those who know her well say she was also never one to abandon her sense of identity, her direction, or her own opinions. Coroner: No Sign of Trauma, Foul Play in Jackson's Death Finding Cause May Take Weeks; Fans Grieve Worldwide
By Ann Gerhart and Ashley Surdin Washington Post Staff Writers Saturday, June 27, 2009
As thousands gathered and wept near Michael Jackson's star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, Los Angeles authorities yesterday bore down on the grim task of learning what killed the pop superstar, at 50, as he was about to embark on a lucrative 50-concert comeback tour. Police seized a car used by a cardiologist who had been with Jackson when paramedics answered a 911 call at the singer's rented mansion Thursday.
The Los Angeles County coroner finished a three-hour autopsy yesterday and found no signs of trauma or foul play.
But spokesman Craig Harvey said a cause of death might not be known for four to six weeks, pending results from toxicology, pulmonary and neuropathology tests. He said Jackson had been taking some prescription drugs, but he refused to identify them.
Detectives talked briefly with cardiologist Conrad R. Murray Jr. and planned to question him more extensively, police said, but the department has not opened a criminal investigation.
"His car was impounded because it may contain medications or other evidence that may assist the coroner in determining the cause of death," police spokeswoman Karen Rayner said. The cardiologist had been hired less than two weeks ago by concert promoters to accompany the singer to London, Jackson associate Tohme Tohme, a physician, told the Los Angeles Times.
Murray is a native of Grenada and a 1989 graduate of Meharry Medical College in Nashville; he is licensed to practice in California, Nevada and Texas, state records show. His public record in California, where he was licensed in 2005, indicated no formal investigations involving him. Several civil judgments, totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars, have been issued against him in recent years, according to Nevada and Minnesota court records.
Little Hope for G.O.P. to Support Health Bill By CARL HULSE and DAVID M. HERSZENHORN Published: June 26, 2009
WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans are finding much to dislike in Democratic health care proposals, illustrating the immense difficulty Democrats face in fashioning an overhaul that can attract enough Republican support to be portrayed as bipartisan.
Republicans’ primary objection is the Democrats’ push for a public health insurance plan that would serve as an alternative to private coverage. Republicans say such a plan would cause the private insurance market to unravel.
There is also the potential 10-year price tag of $1 trillion or more for the overhaul, coupled with the prospect of new taxes or fees to offset the cost. And Republicans see elements of the Democratic plans as government intrusion into personal health care decision making.
Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, the House Republican leader, said he was unaware of any House Republican inclined to support the Democrats’ proposed legislation.
Asked how many Senate Republicans could sign on to developing Democratic plans, Senator Richard M. Burr of North Carolina, author of a Republican alternative, said: “I think right now, none. Zero.”
The Republicans are right for the most part. High end management and rainmakers will have health insurance(it will be very upper crust) for their families but the average worker is going to get dropped the minute the employer can. From an employers point of view the varability of premiums is not going to change and nor is the time spent every year looking of another one worth it. The employer/owner will either pokcet the money or put it to productive uses. the employee knowing they have it is not going to wish upon a miracle to be healthy enough to have it. It would be nice If they just admitted it and got it over w/.

Tribute to Mike: "Got to Be There for Mike"
Got to be there, got to be there In the morning When she says hello to the world Got to be there, got to be there Bring her good times And show her that she's my girl Oh what a feeling there'll be The moment I know she loves me 'Cause when I look in her eyes I realize I need her sharing her world beside me
So I've got to be there Got to be there in the morning And welcome her into my world And show her that she is my girl When she says, "Hello world!" I need her sharing the world beside me
That's why I've got to be there Got to be there where love begins And that's everywhere she goes I've got to be there so she knows That when she's with me, she's home

From Icebergslim:
Friday, June 26, 2009 Governor Mark Sanford's wife told him don't go see his lover Man, you can't write this any better. for real.
South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford sat in her oceanfront living room Friday, recalling how her husband repeatedly asked permission to visit his lover in the months after she discovered his affair.
"I said absolutely not. It's one thing to forgive adultery; it's another thing to condone it," Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press during a 20-minute interview at the coastal home where she sought refuge with their four sons. They were her first extended comments on the affair.
She said that when her husband, Gov. Mark Sanford, inexplicably disappeared last week, she hoped he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail, as his staff told those who inquired about his absence. That he had dared to go to Argentina to see the other woman left her stunned.
You mean to tell me that the Governor of South Carolina had to ask permission to go to Argentina? And was told NO?? But he went anyway? Does this smell like reconciliation with wifey to you?
"He was told in no uncertain terms not to see her," she said in a strong, steady voice. "I was hoping he was on the Appalachian Trail. But I was not worried about his safety. I was hoping he was doing some real soul-searching somewhere and devastated to find out it was Argentina. It's tragic."
The Sanfords had separated about two weeks ago. She said her husband told the family that he wanted some time away to work on writing a book and clear his head. The first lady said, "I had every hope he was not going to see her."
"You would think that a father who didn't have contact with his children, if he wanted those children, he would toe the line a little bit," she said.
Sanford's wife is not playing. And let us not forget that he just totally BLEW OFF, Father's Day with his boys, BLEW OFF trying to make it right with his wife, BLEW OFF any family time. Sanford decided that he wanted to be with the woman he loves and that is Maria in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Simple as that.
Sanford, a modern day, KING DAVID.
"When I found out in January, we both indicated a willingness to continue working on the marriage, but there's not room for three people in a marriage," she said. "I've done everything in my power possibly to keep him from going to see her and to really make sure she was off the table, including asking him to leave."
About an hour after Jenny Sanford talked of her pain and feelings of betrayal, her husband brushed aside any suggestion he might immediately resign, citing the Bible and the story of King David — who continued to lead after sleeping with another man's wife, Bathsheba, having the husband slain, then marrying the widow. read more here....
And what about Jenny and the boys? I would say that Jenny Sanford has been more than magnanimous here, seeing that her husband was caught not only cheating but lying to her. I commend her if she wants this to work out, that is the marriage, but I definitely don't blame her if she wants to move on because of lack of trust and just straight up disrespect.
He repeatedly asked her permission to see his lover after she discovered the affair!? She's done everything in her power to keep him from seeing his lover!? Clearly Sanford is in love with "Maria" and has been making that clear to Mrs. Sanford -- in one way or another -- since she discovered the affair. For the life of me, I can't understand why they are still together.
And...her story is not sounding to kosher to me. Both parties DID NOT indicate a willingness to work on the marriage when one party repeatedly asked permission to see their lover. She's got the media on lock and I'm not mad her. Elizabeth Edwards could use her media training.
isonprize
I'm not trying to make her a martyr and of course, I don't know everything that goes/went down in this marriage, but it seems clear that Jenny has done everything to try to keep it together.
IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO! And he's tangoing in Argentina.
What is a woman, wife, mother of four supposed to do when the man, husband, father is so obviously in love with another? And even if it's not love, it clearly some serious tango 'cause he has lost all ability to reason.
1. His wife knew what was up, told him not to go, even threw him out of the house to make her point 2. He threw off his four kids on Father's Day 3. He blew off his job, uh GOVERNOR of a southern, conservative state 4. He flew to another continent, possibly spending state $$ for the trip 5. He had sex with a person other than his wife
It's her business and her life, so of course, Jenny can stay with him if she wants to. He doesn't want to 'keep it together' What's left to stay with?
It looks pretty simple to me. Other than straight-up gossip, this story IS over.
Val
I don't think love for Maria had anything to do with the price of rice in China. It boiled down to Maria laid some good bilingual sunshine ***** on him and he lost his ever loving mind. Been sniffing behind her ever since.
but love. . . . nowhere in that equation.
Miranda
See, that's what I'm thinking Val...this is an ultimate case of LUST.

So......what in the hizzee did that chick in Argentina DO?!?! WHAT THE HELL did she put on Mark Sanford?? Roots?? Is she a geechee woman and put a potion on him? What?? Damn...this man straight pulled a "hello, put your mom on the phone...I ain't NEVA coming back!"...she is Sunshine for real!
texascowgirl
Hmmmmmmm, not necessarily. She's just new snatch is all. Newness creates and excitement all on it's on. We also shouldn't assume that Ms. Argentina is "in love" with the Governor. Some women only want to be mistresses. Mistresses get all of the fun and none of the resposiblily, which is probably why so many second marriages that result from adulterous relationships fail and don't last as long as first marriages. Affairs are always illusions. This woman doesn't really know him and he doesn't really know her. For all we know she's down in Argentina thinking "Damn, I sure hope his ass isn't planning on moving down here". Also I hear the emails were discovered by her beau so she might be trying to save a relationship of her own. Apparently she was in agribusiness and Sanford met with reps from her company. Girlfriend was probably just trying to secure business deals and has no use for a soon to be ex-governor with 4 kids who's political career is over.

I'm with you, TCG. (well, aside from calling her 'snatch'...)
The Argentine's boyfriend sent the e-mails to 'The State" (local newspaper in SC) She's divorced with two of her own kids. She told Sanford she had a man, but that she loved Sanford.
Who knows what her motives are. I agree that she may have just played him, 'cause she certainly knew who he was. She may have liked the distance and the 'international flavor' of the 'romance' But what the hell would she do with him there? Does he even speak Spanish?
As far as I can tell, Sanford made his $$ based on his wife Jenny setting him up for political office. Without Jenny, and probably without the Governor's office, what does he have besides some SERIOUS baggage?
So if it's really love, they sound made for each other.
Too much drama for me.

In case you missed Icebergslim's smackdown of Maureen Orth:
Friday, June 26, 2009 Maureen Orth is one bitter pill, truly she is, from morning joe (Video) For a woman who lost her husband a bit over a year ago tragically by a heart attack, her venom on Michael Jackson is stunning. NBC/MSNBC cried on television for over a WEEK in remembrance of her husband Tim Russert, yet she was all over television yesterday and today like she knew Michael Jackson, personally, when in reality SHE DID NOT.
What is this woman's problem? She's not simply reporting on MJ's death. Her comments are coming from a place hate. She actually sat up there and said the way he died was "great" for someone like MJ. WTF? And the only one who had the courage to call her on it was John Ridley.
And to think that MSNBC damn near canonized her husband, when the reality was that he was in bed with the right just as much as the rest of the rest of them MSM. Tim Russert didn't have the decency to call out Don Imus for the crap he said about his friend, Gwen Ifill (called her a cleaning lady) or the Rutger's women's b-ball comment. So, she really needs to fall back. Way back.
Maureen Orth thinks that she is set-for-life. She can say whatever she wants and has immunity due to the untimely death of her own husband.
Jeff Immelt (CEO of GE) and Jeff Zucker (CEO of NBC) must have made special promises to her. Her son, Luke, gets exposure on NBC NEWS programming that the most highly-trained journalists from the top schools of journalism would kill for. It's all pie-in-the-sky...right?
Keep it up bitch. Keep it up. What goes up must come down. Sympathy is a diminishing asset. The Jeffs aren't always going to be the CEOs of these publicly-traded companies. Someday, a POC might be running that company--a POC who just so happens to be a MJ Fan and saw what you did in the aftermath of MJ's death.
Oh, a Black CEO of GE/NBC is inconceivable? It's impossible, right? Just like a Black President was 9 months ago, right?
Keep it up bitch. Keep it up. Your son Luke's hook-ups may eventually dry-up.
spirit_55z
Webb, you, bringing it!
"Keep it up bitch. Keep it up. Your son Luke's hook-ups may eventually dry-up."
Val
yep she is impacting Luke's career.

Michael Jackson's death sparks bus brawl Reuters
Fri Jun 26, 10:35 pm ET
MIAMI (Reuters) – A fight broke out on a Florida bus when news of Michael Jackson's death sparked debate over whether he should be remembered as a great musical talent, and one passenger was charged with assault, police said on Friday.
The bus was moving through the city of North Lauderdale on Thursday when passenger James Kiernan received a text message about Jackson's death on his cell phone, and he read it aloud on the bus, the Broward County Sheriff's Department said.
The unidentified bus driver opined that "Michael Jackson should have been in jail long ago," prompting Kiernan, 60, to retort that "the world just lost a great musical talent," the police report said.
It said the last remark enraged another passenger, Henry Wideman, who started a swearing match with Kiernan, then pulled out a knife and chased Kiernan down the aisle with it.
The driver called his dispatcher and pulled over near a convenience store to wait for sheriff's deputies, who arrested Wideman, 54. He remained in jail on Friday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

i was really upset this morning but when i saw this i laughed i know it was wrong to laugh but i did feel better afterwards

See, that's a lot of hate bubbling over right there. Pulling a knife on someone because they appreciated MJ's contributions to the entertainment industry.

" So, she really needs to fall back. Way back."
Way the FUCK back.
Justice58
For real! WTF is up with her hatred?

ice issued a fitting smackdown.
Just because cable didn't dig up and display any dirty laundry on brother Timmy, doesn't mean he didn't leave a few out of the wash..... Just sayin.
Sepia
OK! *coughValeriePlameDramacough*
Remember when Maureen threw a hissy fit because Arianna Huffington didn't join the Tim Russert Was Journalism's Jesus Tour? Arianna didn't care for Tim but she didn't take that opportunity to trash him, like Maureen is doing MJ. Arianna stayed classy.
I didn't care for Tim Russert - ever. He was a class I panderer. I resent the fact that people thot he was objective.... pfft...he wasn't.
spirit_55z
I remember it. Orth's not getting enough attention. If she wants it, she'll sure enough get IT if she doens't sit the fuck down and curb that bitching haterade.
Have you read Orth's Vanity Fair articles on Jackson? I thought that they were credible. She and Diane Dimond were saying that he had a serious drug problem on top of playing with young boys.
I don't think this is hate. I think some of this is based on the facts she garnered about him since the Nineties.
Believe me, I think Timmeh was a load of fat, hot air. And I wish I had his son's connections. But Orth is not entirely coming out of left field.
For me, Michael Jackson died a long time ago, just like Elvis died a long time ago before the drugs and the megalomania did him in. I am sorry he is gone. Really. But some bad news is harder to swallow than others. I don't think that it points to some "black pathology" either.
Just my two cents.
spirit_55z
Appreciate your two cents, blksista.
Most folks, especially his fans were pretty intune with Michael's shortcomings. One need only look at him to see he was troubled.
What I object and loathe is immediately after Michael Jackson was pronoucned dead, folks like Orth jumped on his drugs and pedophilia charges. That's not new. I, for one, already knew about this.
What gives Orth the creds to paint the idea that Michael Jackson dying the way he did was"good" the way he'd want to die?
Tim Russert wasn't a fucking saint by any stretch. He had MSNBC and NBC chronies to elevate his ass. They touted his Catholisism and family values. We saw what they wanted us to see.
What gives Orth the creds to paint the idea that Michael Jackson dying the way he did was"good" the way he'd want to die?
Because Jackson had been quoted variously as saying that he was going to go like Elvis, or that he was expecting it, or that it would not be so bad. Even Lisa Marie Presley spoke of his morbid thoughts, and she was married to him, as well as being a friend since childhood. Orth and Diane Dimond merely reported on things like this like everyone else. Both of these reporters followed and examined the cases to the point where they are considered experts on them.
You could say that the panel--I saw it too--was trying to temper the mood of the fans, not damn Michael with faint praise, so to speak. His personal life was hell, and in a lot of ways, he was responsible for that hell. It's a cautionary note that when we say we want to be like somebody (John Belushi, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe), to take care that we don't give in to the darkness that destroyed them.
Like I said, Saint Timmeh was no favorite of mine. And while I think that I feel Michael's loss, my view of him is not like those who are sitting in the street, bemoaning their loss(es) (I'm sure that Jackson isn't the only thing they've lost this year) with nothing out there to help them to listen to reason.
I remember when he had a nose.
I remember when he told us to get it together or leave it alone, and to keep on looking through the windows.
I remember when he was the Scarecrow in The Wiz.
I remember the Motown 30th Anniversaryon TV, when he did the moonwalk.
I remember the time.
eclecticbrotha
MSNBC was dancing on Michael's grave less than 5 minutes after the story broke. They seem to be inviting people like Orth onto their network to pile on and trash Michael for maximum benefit.
Val
doesn't matter. the more they do that the higher the sales on his records.
All they are doing is elevating Michael higher but opposite from what they wanted to accomplish.
Because that goddamned Pat Buchanan told 'em to - mofo. I'm surprised they haven't paraded Pat out to give his "take" on the 'King of Pop.' I'm surprised Pat STILL doesn't have his own show.
