It’s sad to hear a spiritual leader choose bitterness, division and hate in response to feeling slighted by the Obamas. In my opinion, Rev. Wright gave Barack Obama no other choice wth his antics but to gain some distance. Some folks can’t handle a bright light shone on them. Wright never seems to choose a healing path before the media but seems to exult opportunities for provocation. From the newly launched NBC Universal site targeted at y’all called TheGrio via AP:

The former pastor of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ told the Daily Press of Newport News, Virginia, that he hasn’t spoken to Obama since he became president.

In an interview, Wright said “Them Jews ain’t going to let him talk to me.” He spoke to the newspaper following a Tuesday night sermon at the 95th annual Hampton University Ministers’ Conference.

The White House declined to comment on Wright’s remarks.

Obama was a longtime member of the church but resigned from it and cut ties with Wright after videos of Wright’s sometimes provocative sermons surfaced during the presidential campaign.

If you’ve read Obama’s autobiography, Dreams from my Father, you’ll know that he describes Wright’s former ministry in ringing tones. So these Anti-Semitic remarks are doubly tragic and inappropriate. I didn’t post when I first heard it because I was so ashamed, disappointed and outraged, coming as it did so close to the Holocaust Museum shooting…

The terrorism earlier this week in DC shows so clearly that Jews and Blacks too often share a common enemy filled with irrational, destructive hate and misplaced fear. Wright is Wrong. What say you?
