The first thing i thought when I saw that picture of Bo was "Is she using a Hot Comb on that dog?" lol I grew up with four sisters and a mother. I can still remember the smell in the house on Saturdays. Fried hair and Afro Sheen. Me and my dad would cut the grass and do the yard work at our house and my grandmother's just to stay away from the smell. lol
That *is* a stuffed animal! Ain't no way that thing is real LOL

Obama will talk to doctors on healthcare Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor June 10, 2009 07:25 PM
President Obama plans next week to make his case for a healthcare overhaul to a group that has helped block major changes before -- the nation's doctors.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs announced today that the president will speak next Monday to the American Medical Association's annual gathering in Chicago.
"He'll start with the recognition that the healthcare system status quo is unsustainable and he'll outline the case for healthcare reform," Gibbs told reporters at his daily briefing. "He'll make clear why we can't afford to wait another year or another administration to bring down costs that are crushing families, businesses, and government.
"In the speech the president will discuss the reasons why past efforts have failed and he'll address the consequences of failing to act again this year," Gibbs added. He'll lay out plainly what healthcare reform will mean for American families and their doctors and what it won't. The president will also address the importance of making sure that reform doesn't add to our deficit, and what we can do to strengthen what works in our health care system and to fix what's broken so that we can build -- what we build provides the best care in the world at the lowest cost.
Earlier today, Obama summoned key lawmakers to the White House again today to push them to reach a deal. Afterwards, there were reports that key Democratic and Republican said a compromise may be emerging on one of the biggest disputes -- whether to create a government-sponsored health plan to compete with private insurers.
The compromise would create nonprofit health cooperatives owned by groups of patients, similar to how electric or other cooperatives operate, and without the government involvement that troubles Republicans and business groups about the public plan, the Associate Press reported.
The senators said Obama was willing to listen to all sides but insisted that Congress must pass a bill this year that reins in costs and helps provide coverage to nearly 50 million uninsured people.
Court: Coleman must pay Franken $95,000 in court costs Associated Press Last update: June 10, 2009 - 8:14 PM
A three-judge panel today required Republican Norm Coleman to pay Democrat Al Franken $94,783 to cover court costs in the seven-week U.S. Senate trial.
The ruling, by the panel that heard the trial, approves an administrative decision last month by the Ramsey County clerk's office. Franken's team had sought $161,510, but a deputy county clerk rejected a request that Coleman pay Franken for his cost of obtaining public records that made up many of the exhibits in the trial and some other expenses.
Also not included are $16,000 in attorneys fees that Franken wants Coleman to pay for sanctions the panel imposed after Coleman's lawyers failed to disclose information about Republican election judge Pamela Howell before her testimony.
Coleman will also have to pay interest on the $94,783 until the debt is paid.
Coleman's lawyers once argued that payment of the court costs should be delayed pending the outcome of their appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court. But they didn't object when the administrative decision came out in May and didn't exercise their right to a court hearing on the matter.
"Number of trips home and days spent at home during first 100 days in office
In a December interview with the Chicago Tribune, Barack Obama said that he hoped to return to his home in Hyde Park at least once every six weeks. “My Kennebunkport is on the South Side,” he said, referring to former president George “41” Bush’s retreat in Maine. “Our family is here. And so we are going to try to come back here as often as possible.” But in his first 15 weeks as president, Obama has come back only once—for the Valentine’s Day weekend.
It appears that coming home has been much harder than he thought. (The White House declined to comment.)
Obama isn’t the only president who has had trouble making hometown visits after taking the oath of office. Out of the past six presidents, only former president George W. Bush (“43”) has really had that “home, sweet home” feeling, spending 16 of his first 100 days at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.

This is probably my fav photo from the newly released behind the scenes photos released by the white house:
I like Andrew's comments about the pic. There is a serious bond with this family and this president that I've never seen in my lifetime.

GreenLady would definitely stand in front of her "air conditioner" if she saw that pic.
Sexy MF.
Angelar
cant' there....nah......too many of those shots and then what will you see shown from the other side when he runs again....the captions.......no, not liking it at all.
isonprize
You don't like the picture of PBO chillin' on the steps of the ambassador's house in Paris? Just curious, why not? Yeah, wingnuttians will have dumb stuff to say, but so what. He is a man of the world, and seems comfortable most anywhere.
Angelar
Maybe I'm too sensitive to the fact that Obama has a higher bar to uphold than any previous president. That picture of him was ok, not flattering......but, I personally would not like to see alot of that type made public. I know he needs his down time and he deserves it as any human does...I just don't think we need to see a whole lot of it. Like it or not, image goes a long long way and I want every thing possible to happen to ensure he gets elected for a second term.
I don't think you have anything to worry about Angelar. If anything, pics like this could help ENSURE he gets re-elected LOL
isonprize
Well, that's fair. I see where you're coming from. But I figure, he knows that cameras are on him 24/7 and if he didn't want a picture taken of him sitting down, he wouldn't have sat down.
But yes, I too, want everything to go right for a second 4 years. But I'm figuring, so does he...

Now JJP, you know I have posted and linked to Va columnist David Squires here before.
Well I'm kinda perturbed this evening and I'll tell you why.
Apparently Rev. Wright is in Va for a conference and granted Squires an interview. It is one of the first articles I read today. And of course Squires and Wright talked about President Obama and the status of their relationship, you know rehashing some of the things we already heard...and Wright again made some comments that could be deemed "controversial" I didn't link to the article today for a number of reasons, but another JJP poster did......and earlier today the title was "Wright has no regrets" or something similar to that...I can't quite remember but it was nothing that screamed salacious or attention-grabbing.
Well, it appears that in light of and likely because of what has sadly transpired at the Holocaust Museum, the title of that same article has changed to "Rev Wright says 'Jews' are keeping him from Obama" I am so disappointed in the way the title of the article was changed for sensational purposes....and I won't even bother to read the comments now, I know they are sickening.
The title was changed for purely sensationalism...and yes, no one forced Rev. Wright to say thise words but now with the tragedy we have seen today, they have become the blaring headline in that story. Davis Squires, the Daily Press, or whoever made that changed has pissed me off......am I being sensitive y'all?
I just get tired of this "National Enquirer-esque " bullshit that is peddled as news....and I normally enjoy Squire's columns.
Town
Hannity has already moaned and groaned about it.
The newspaper is going to do what it can to drive sales and hits to its' website; sensationalism = survival.
Rev. Wright doesn't have to say a word about Obama. I don't know if Bill Clinton's former pastor or George Bush (1 or 2)'s former pastor or Jimmy Carter's former pastor would be speaking to the press about their former congregant. A "no comment" will suffice.
Rev. Wright knows damn well everything he says about Obama will be blown up. He didn't have to say anything about Jews or Barack being a bad child or any of that. So, IMO he's standing in line right with Tavis, Dyson, etc. mad because he thought he was movin' on up to the White House with Barack, and because he got left behind he's throwing salt in Barack's game.
MoObama
The question to ponder is why Rev. Wright dislikes Barack, and he certainly does. Perhaps he is disturbed because Barack would not allow himself to be manipulated by a svengali. Rev. Wright's words would have been a mere sound bite; (from a pathetic individual) if an innocent guard had not been killed at the Holocaust Museum. But what makes yesterday so sad is the violent struggle America is going through to transform into a better country. The hateful and ignorant feel intimidated by the "Black" president who desires to shake things up. I lay fault at the feet of Sarah Palin and John McCain. They roused the hate mongers through their campaign rallies, and what did the MSM assert after covering these KKK type rallies -- that these two charlatans were politically savvy and honorable. I lay fault at the desk of Fox news pundits who use the medium of journalism to contort the truth and instill fear in the simple minded. Finally, I lay fault with Afro-Americans such as Smiley and Dyson who are carrying a chip on their shoulders about something and that somehow relates to the Black community.
isonprize
No, I don't think you are being sensitive. Rev. Wright is a lightening rod. He attracts energy, lately mostly negative energy. If folks think they can sell a paper, or get more attention, then they are going to do whatever it takes, if it's that kind of attention they want.
The good Rev. does seem to have a penchant for stirring the pot, doesn't he? Some folks are just like that, for whatever reason. He also seems to glory in the attention.
It's kinda sad, because I actually think he is a very smart man. Very knowledgeable about the bible. He has consistently spoken out against apartheid. Was one of the first preachers to speak about AIDS prevention and support of folks with the virus. Has been a longtime supporter of homosexuals, both in his church and from the pulpit.
I just don't get the apparent animosity (probably not the right word, but I can't think of a better one...) that he has for PBO. Sad...
And yes, the paper did change the headline to capitalize on the sensationalism of the Holocaust Museum tragedy.
Town
IMO he thought he was movin' on up to the White House and when Obama "threw him under the bus," his feelings got hurt so he's sitting in the corner sucking his teeth.
And the thing is, if he had just STOPPED after the Bill Moyers interview, nobody would be talking about Rev. Wright because that interview changed a lot of people's perceptions about the "controversial" sermons. Because they got to understand the context of what was being said. But after he acted a fool at the Press Club, Obama had to let him go.
NMP
Town,
After his first interview with Nedra Pickler in the NYT, I knew he was going to be trouble. I believe it was on Skeptical Brotha's blog that I called him self-serving and petulent. Just becaue someone wears the robe and well-versed in the Bible or Biblical Scholarship doesn't make him any more or less a human being than the rest of us, with all the qualities and failings of human beings, incuding pride and resentment. I said the campaign needed to cut all ties with him immediately because his pride was getting the better of him. Negroes went crazy. Called me every name in the book. Well.
isonprize
If he had just STOPPED after the Bill Moyers interview
I'm witchu on that. Fo' real...
rikyrah
Why do so many folks forget that.
We held our breaths with Bill Moyers, and exhaled.
We held our breaths with the Detroit NAACP Speech, and exhaled too.
It was the NATIONAL PRESS CLUB APPEARANCE. Period.
He clowned.
spirit_55z
I read the article. Wright said what he said and not President Obama.
What Jews are keeping Obama away from Wright? Rahm,, Geithner, Summers?
Do you think it's contoversal because because of Israel/Palestine. Is he trying to imply Obama's a closet an anti-semite. Is Wright an anti-semite?
I'd write the paper and Squire and ask them why they felt it necessary to change the title.
rikyrah
Axelrod and Rahm ' Fuck the Black Caucus' Emmanuel.
spirit_55z
Dayum! RFBCE
Micheline
Geithner isn't Jewish; he's German.
Monie
I just know that it is no coincidence that the title was changed to sensationalize the article and that it is directly related to what happened today in DC
and you know how media has treated the Rev Wright issue before, and the angle they choose to cover it....it's just really useless at this point for journalist and papers to continue with this mess...
Plantsmantx
No doubt I could Google that headline right now, and come up with dozens of hits. What can you do other than try to ignore it? The strange thing is, that's such an incendary thing to say, I'm surprised it wasn't the original headline.
spirit_55z
I guess my mind got carried away, trying to figure out what are these folk's motives. Squire really was bringing it. It's disheartening when folks fall into the trap of sensationlism.
At this point, there really isn't anyone in the media and journalism that's credible, as far as I'm concerned.
Got to come to JJP and break this nonsense down. SMH
Please tell me they are not using a pressing comb on that doggy's head.
rikyrah
See, I'm not the only one...I thought it was totally a hot comb..LOL
you can tell I'm not an animal person
spirit_55z
HA HA HA!!! rikyrah, I've had two poodles, one black and one silver If I didn't keep their coats clipped, the hair would get all tangled and matted. I used to take the scissors to them and do a hack job.
mon_dieu_ishmael
If our poodle was acting up or being naughty, all we had to do was to get out the comb (that looked like the one in the picture), and the dog would hightail to her bed and lay low for awhile.
spirit_55z
LMAO! Yep, or if I'd get the scissors and start opening and shutting them. Silverbell's ears would stick straight up, and she'd bark like a maniac.
mon_dieu_ishmael
LOL
spirit_55z
LOL! No, it's not a hot comb. I had a toy poodle and used a comb like that one. It gets the snarls out and keeps the hair from matting.

First, I think most of you know I am a HUGE supporter of the Obama's, but, I gotta say this about the First Lady's outfit seen in London. I have tried every which way to find a way to like but I just can't get there! I love Michelle Obama, but, I hope her friends and family will dissuade her from wearing a get-up like this in public again!
Angelar, have we not had this ongoing conversation that Michelle IS GOING TO BE Michelle. We have to get used to her being eccentric and just love her for who she is on the inside. We wait with baited breath from day to day. Some days are hits and some are total misses. I am beginning to believe that the hits are starting to outweigh the misses; it all remains to be seen. Gotta love her for who she is.
khrish
Just because you are a huge supporter doesn't mean you have to like everything the First Lady wears. She's worn a few things that I didn't like; but she obviously does. We just don't always have the same taste albeit I still am a strong supporter.
SDG
Michelle is going to be who she is Angela and there is nothing that any of us is going to do about it. Spare yourself the worry. She ain't gonna be what we want her to be. Period. :-)
lamh32
Not quite what ur discussing, but in the same arean, from Black Snob (which I completely agree with):
Um. No comment on the outfit...But while some may be riled up about the ... err ... colorfulness of this outfit, do you want to know what's really pissing me off? ...I realize that this is just fodder for people who despise the Obamas, but it really annoys the crap out of me when some bloggers or FOX News, in this case, single out one photograph of the First Lady not smiling and pour all over it like nutjobs to ascertain what bitchery this could mean. There was one picture of Michelle appearing to glare at Carla Bruni during the D-Day ceremony out of the millions of pictures of them smiling that everyone has obsessed over. And I've had to read ridiculous criticisms from FOX doing caption contests that lead to racist and sexist comments to celeb blogger Sandra Rose chastising the First Lady for not smiling more (what is the woman supposed to do? Tattoo a grin on her face?) to even the Huffington Post getting in on the cattiness. What the hell, people? Michelle Obama smiles all the freakin' time. It is not humanly possible to smile in EVERY. DAMN. PHOTO. It is ridiculous to sit there and scrutinize the one effing photo where she is not smiling...
Angelar
thanks for that link and what a great picture of the First Lady waving from the car....love it.
Yeah, as to the FIXED people....they know and we know they hate the Obama's and in my personal opinion, their jealousy of a black family in the White House is their driving force and it knows no bounds.
spirit_55z
LOL! It's a bit busy isn't it? I'll bet the Brits are copying that style as I type.
I think Frsit Lady Michelle Obama's just gonna wear WHATEVER floats her boat. Sail it FLOUTS, sail it.
Angelar
Fine, about Michelle doing her thing on clothes, but, I'm looking at reality. She represents so much and I don't think we want her being made looking silly on a regular basis. Just saying!

Looks like Lynn Sweet has clarified a few things, such as, today is Sasha's birthday and you can read the rest from here....
Michelle Obama Celebrates Sasha's Birthday; Tours Harry Potter Movie Set in London Posted: 06/10/09Filed Under:The Daily FLOTUS with Lynn Sweet 1 Comments + Still vacationing in London, First Lady Michelle Obama celebrated daughter Sasha's 8th birthday on Wednesday by taking Sasha and her sister, Malia, to the Harry Potter movie set.
First Lady spokeswoman Semonti Mustaphi confirmed the visit to the studio, which took place mid-day. The British press was off by a day, reporting on Tuesday that the First Lady and her girls had already toured the movie studio. Why Potter? "The girls like Harry Potter," Mustaphi said, "otherwise they wouldn't go."
There have also been conflicting reports about Sasha's birthday. But Mustaphi, who is celebrating her own birthday today, said June 10 is the right day. Malia turns 11 on July 4.
With school out for the summer, Mrs. Obama, her mother, Marian Robinson, and her daughters flew to Paris Friday for a vacation aimed at showing the children the sights of two European capitals. Mrs. Obama and the family met up with President Obama (on his own international swing) in Paris on Friday. Mrs. Obama flew with the president to Normandy on Saturday for ceremonies marking the 65th anniversary of D-Day.
The Obama women visited French President Nicholas Sarkozy and his wife, Carla, on Sunday at the Elysee Palace. They flew to London on Monday morning, sightseeing and paying a call on Sarah Brown, wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, at No. 10 Downing Street, their official residence. On Tuesday they had a private tour of Westminster Abbey and took in a performance of "The Lion King" in the evening.
The First Lady's office has declined to say when she is coming home. "I can't talk about future travel," Mustaphi said. "I can confirm things that have happened in the past."
