My late favorite Aunt Julia used to sing this song every Sunday when I used to go to church as a child. I loved how she sang He's Sweet I Know.

I love "Through the Storm." It reminds me of the Obama family.

Totally with you Spirit. There is no else I'd rather have at the helm than Barack Obama. The even temperament and deliberation--"I like to know what I'm talking about before I speak," is so dayum refreshing in a world that wants instant answers and solutions.

Instant gratification got us into the mess we are in right now. Where others would overcompensate and react to the maelstrom, he remains steady.

Good Afternoon All,
As stated above, I'm sick of President Obama having to go it alone. What's the use of having big majorities in both House & Senate when nobody will stand up & be counted. After all these years watching the Rethugs doin as they please, the Democratic congress acts like punks, not just big but ALL issues. WTF? Am I better off. I'd say yes because I have more hope for the future then I did after Bush stole election '04.

There are many things that the President deserves to be called out on but where are the members of congress who are out there in the media voicing support for any of the issues pushed by the President. Especially the high profile ones. Every issue, it's the President that not only has to lead but has to do all the heavy lifting in terms of selling it to the public. Republicans seem to understand that within the party, election has consequences so they are quite supportive of the President's agenda. Democrats don't subscribe to that, everybody's independent. That works in an ideal world but in the real world, Obama is the 2nd President in 29 yrs that's a democrat. He has majorities in the house and senate and everytime he wants to get legislation passed, he needs to bend over and grab his ankles? That aint right.

Am I better off today than I was 4 years ago? Yes. For me, I'd like to think that I'm continually learning and maturing daily.

In terms of Barack Obama being elected POTUS, am I better off. YES.

Here's why I think I'm better off:

Did his being elected change my job status, marital status, financial status et.asl? NO. I didn't look to the last adminstration to take care of me, and personally, I'm not looking for President Obama to take care of me either.

I'd like to experience what good government is like. That means effective elected officials running an effective government.

I'm better off because I can experience the benefits of a consciousness shift that came about from him being elected.

His election has opened further debate on race in America. It has continued to peel back layers of racial hate and exposing the hypocriscy of government.

And yes, RonnieB, Barack Obama is a POLITICIAN too, and I voted for him.

I expect him to serve the Amerian people as best he can just like I expected the previous 43 POTUS's. They all had their issues, flaws, strengths & weaknesses, and so does Barack Obama.

What I love about President Obama is his pragmatic approach on the issues, his love for his family, and his grace under fire.

I don't have any personal AGENDAS when it comes to the president.

What I'd like to see is an economic recovery and a VIABLE healthcare bill passed that benefits all AMERICANS. Will it happen? Who knows., but my world aint coming to an END if it doesn't.

I hope he fulfills his mission as President of the United States of America and I support the president.

We really need to wake the fuck up! Democratic weasals like Baucus and Bayh are crawling out of their holes onto the set of shows like Morning Joe because they sense the President is weakened. You're going to see more and more conservative to moderate Democrats start chanting, "we can't deficit spend our way to health care reform." That chant is soon going to grow into chorus and eventually it's going to drown out calls for health care altogether. What are you going to whine about then?!

It's starting already with this new NBC/WSJ poll that's out now showing that PBO's approval has slipped to 56%. Isn't the timing.....interesting? The talking heads and GOP have been pounding the "Obama's support is slipping!" meme for the last 18 hours.

As my momma says, "Use your head for something besides a hat rack!".

While white liberals and even some our folks are whining about a damn Justice Department memo, which at the end of the day doesn't mean jack shit, and not extending health care benefits to gay partners, which the President can't unilaterally do, health care reform is in real danger of failing and thus the Obama presidency failing and thus us failing. Good points Ronnie. Construtive criticism is not a bad thing. What I take issue w/is the tone. Disrespect, hate and contempt are unacceptable in any dialog. We can hold the President to high standards, while still remaining respectful. I don't think that's too much to ask.

While we remain ardent and unequivocal supporters of President Obama, I think it's important to remember that the President himself knows that he is still a politician.

And as a politician, I think the President will respect us *most* when we voice our high expectations of him, and express our displeasure if and when he doesn't meet them.
