That little hamlet where Neverland is located is bucking the development of Mike's shrine because of tourism traffic. If Schwezenegger don't get on the phone and call that little part time mayor as bad as California needs money. Unbelievable. So I'm back from my DC vacation. A good time was had by all.
But there was something being from the South, that we noticed alot during the our time in DC. Am I crazy, or are they really a lot of Black woman/white male interracial relationships in DC? I'm not mentioning this aspect because I have issue with these relationships, I could care less, but as I said being born and raised in the south, it's not as common as it seemed to be in DC.
Anyway, we found that interest4ing. Aside from that, like I said, the trip was great. We didn't actually eat at outside restaurants as much as we wanted. We just ate at the various cafe's at the Smithsonians museums, and around union station & in crystal city.
I plan to go back with my sister, and make it an all landmark tour trip. We would have visited more places, but the Congress tour and the White House tour took up more of our time than we thought they would.
whiterosebuddy
Sounds like you really enjoyed it! I just returned from bein in DC too. Can't say I spied all the interracial couples you did...wait a minute come to think of it I did see two couples but they were in Capitol Grill...but I just figured it was the usual lunch crowd.
Where'd you see most of the couples? On the metro, on tours in stores?

Michael Jackson's songs top iTunes charts across world
As of Monday morning his music held the iTunes top spot in every country except Japan. His Number Ones album, that features all of his biggest hits, is also at the top of the official UK chart, which takes into account both download and record shop sales. Four of his other albums are in the top 20. A run on Michael Jackson's back catalogue has led to a frantic search to replenish stocks.
Within an hour of the death being announced the singer's section at Amoeba Records on LA's Sunset Boulevard was empty, forcing staff to head to the warehouse to search for the odd copy of Thriller that might be hidden away. More than three days on and they are still struggling to keep up with demand and eagerly awaiting a big shipment tomorrow of Jackson albums. Timothy Latham was one of the staff members on duty when news broke that the King of Pop was dead.
"It was insane, there were mobs here. We sold out in less than an hour," the tired looking sales clerk said. He continued: "On Friday it was almost as bad, it took two-and-half hours to sell out." Additional supplies found in the warehouse have meant that some titles have been able to be replenished, but people wanting some of Jackson's big releases may have to wait for a couple more days before getting their desired album.
"On Tuesday there will be a big shipment of everything," the record shop worker said. The surge in Jackson sales pretty much ensures that he will be returned to the top of the Billboard charts next week. An article on the US chart compiler's website notes that many retailers ran out of all Jackson stock on Thursday night. But despite the supply and demand problems, it confidently predicts that he will dominate the forthcoming album charts.
"Initial reports of Jackson's album sales from Thursday alone indicate that one of his albums – possibly Number Ones – will easily fly to number one on the chart next week," Billboard's Keith Caulfield wrote. Classic albums Thriller, Off the Wall and Bad also look set for a chart return. Most of Jackson's titles appear to have seen a boost in sales. But there is one recording being left behind as other titles fly of the shelf. "There is a lot of Wiz left, the album he did with Diana Ross," Mr Latham said in reference to the 1978 soundtrack of the Wizard of Oz adaptation. http://www.upi.com/turl-0e1f73/

From Politico:
Judge gives Paterson a win
New York Gov. David Paterson racked up a rare political victory Monday, as a state supreme court judge ruled in his favor, ordering that the full state Senate must convene at his command in order to organize the leadership of the chamber. The balance of power in the Senate remains unclear after a party-switching gambit by two Democratic senators went awry.
Justice Joseph Teresi's blunt ruling is worth a look, via the Daily News:
The judge (who happens to be a Democrat) made no secret of his contempt for the Senate mess and issued a harsh rebuke to the senators from the bench.
"You have a unique opportunity as elected officials to take the high road; do the right thing for the greater good," Teresi said.
"Otherwise there are those citizens of the public who would conclude, if they have not already concluded, that these members have placed their own interests ahead of all other citizens of this state to the benefit of their own personal and selfish interests, and that those same people may also conclude and define that conduct as rude, inconsiderate and egotistical.
"Unfortunately I am not without the power to correct or address those issues."

Iraqi forces assume formal control of Baghdad and other cities on Tuesday after American troops hand over security in urban areas in a defining step toward ending the U.S. combat role in the country.
Fireworks, not bombings, colored the Baghdad skyline late Monday, and thousands attended a party in a park where singers performed patriotic songs. Loudspeakers at police stations and military checkpoints played recordings of similar tunes throughout the day, as Iraqi military vehicles decorated with flowers and national flags patrolled the capital.
"All of us are happy — Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds on this day," Waleed al-Bahadili said as he celebrated at the park. "The Americans harmed and insulted us too much."
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki declared a public holiday and proclaimed June 30 as "National Sovereignty Day." [...]
The gathering at the Baghdad park was unprecedented in size for such a postwar event in a city where people tend to avoid large gatherings for fear of suicide bombers. They ignored an appeal by Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi to stay away from crowded places during the U.S. pullback, which has seen more than 250 people killed in bombings over the past 10 days.
Diane Diamond appeared on MSNBC minutes ago discussing the fate of Michael Jackson's children. She said that she does not think that anyone in Michael's family will end up with custody of the three children as no one in the Jackson family is biologically related to them. What?
Even though Michael maintained that his sperm was used to conceive his children, Diane Diamond is contending that that is not the case. She gave indication that she knows the identity of the man who is the sperm donor though she is not prepared to share that information. She does suspect, however, that he will be making himself known. To support her contention, she pointed out the fact that the children are light skinned and blue eyed.
Have Mercy! Diane Diamond is & always have been a hater determined to trash Michael in any way she can! Saaaaaaaaaa>>>lap in the mouth!
Miranda
So does this mean that every single adopted child in this country isn't REALLY legally the children of their parents right now?? Because that's what I'm hearing. So when you adopt a child....since you aren't biologically the parent, the child is really just a loaner if something were to happen to you?? That's how it goes??
On behalf of my sweet little cousin that was adopted at 2 weeks and is now 4 years old......Diane Dimond and all that think like her....go straight to hell.

Graham: Sanford can stay if he reconciles by Jed Lewison Share this on Twitter - Graham: Sanford can stay if he reconciles Mon Jun 29, 2009 at 01:30:14 PM PDT Lindsey Graham says Mark Sanford can remain as Governor of South Carolina for the final eighteen months of his term -- but only if he reconciles with his wife.
I think if Mark can reconcile with Jenny, and that’s not going to be easy, that he can finish his last 18 months. He’s had a good reform agenda. And I do believe that if, if he can reconcile with his family and if he’s willing to try, that the people of South Carolina would be willing to give him a second chance.
Lindsey Graham is a stupid motherfucker. Sanford HAS NO reform agenda, unless you call "my way or the highway" a reform agenda (hell, it doesn't even work as marital counseling, as Jenny found out)!
And WHAT EXACTLY is "reconcile with Jenny"?
I don't want to see the Sanfords fucking, and I sure as hell won't take Mark Sanford's word for anything.
And Jenny doesn't seem to be a Tammy Wynette fan; she seems to like James Brown a helluvah lot more ("The Big Payback").

Anyone following this conflict between Dana Milbank,. and the blogger that asked the Iranian question at the President's last Press Conference?
From Booman Tribune:
It's Really Dana Milbank Who is a D*ck by BooMan Mon Jun 29th, 2009 at 02:00:04 AM EST
There was a brief period of time, probably in 2004, when I thought Dana Milbank was doing a decent job of showing a sane level of skepticism about the Bush administration's pronouncements and behavior. He wasn't striking for his wit or his moral outrage. He just stood out as someone who was occasionally willing to call bullshit in a town where that seemed never to happen. His schtick appeared to be irreverence of a kind slightly more substantive than that provided by Lady Dowd. But something changed. If I had to guess, what changed is that Milbank started getting invites to be on the cable news. And that made him somebody. He joined the Big Boys like Howard Fineman and Ron Brownstein. His opinion was supposed to move the national discourse. He became a connoisseur of the cocktail frankfurter. And then...he began to suck. He lost his outsiderish up-and-coming edge. His condescension stopped reaching up and started hammering down. Instead of telling us that our betters are full of crap, he told us that his lessers were unworthy. And, at some point he reached a stage of inness where he felt comfortable enough to wallow in his sense of accomplishment and to develop a sense of entitlement. He worked hard to get where he is and, dammit, who is some blogger from the Huffington Post to get an invitation to ask the president a question? That blogger is Nico Pitney who has been covering the Iranian elections with indefatigable energy. Milbank's sense of vanity was on full display today when he appeared on Howard Kurtz's Reliable Sources with Nico, and whined about a mere aggregator of news getting called on in a presidential press conference. When the segment was over, Milbank turned to Pitney and told him, "You are such a dick."
It's hard to say exactly why Milbank decided to insult Pitney to his face, but it's a good bet that his feelings were hurt when Nico pointed out that Milbank once asked candidate Obama numerous questions about how he looked in a swimsuit. I think it should go without saying that a journalist's opportunities to ask a presidential contender questions are limited, and Milbank blew one of the few chances he will ever get. The truth is, only someone whose bowels are bloated with cocktail weenies would ever waste such a golden chance to probe the mind of a presidential candidate by asking about his pectoral muscles.
Dana and the rest of the village idiots who call themselves journalists are have a hissy fit because god forbid someone who don't go to the cock-tail parties get a chance to ask an intelligent question.Eff Dana and the rest of them if I was President Obama I wouldn't call on any of them the next time and if get asked about it tell everyone I wanted intelligent questions this time.
Miranda
Dana Milbank needs to be put in the figure-four. Seriously...somebody needs to climb up on the top rope and just come down like Dusty Rhodes back in the day, full force on his pimply weasly ass.

AN OPEN LETTER TO DAP DADDY JOE JACKSON
Joe, you really don't understand. So, let me explain. We don't want to see you or Franklin anymore. You are part of the problem, part of our grief, one of the main reason's Mike is gone too soon. Do you know that we believed Mike when he told us that you verbally/physically abuse your children. You saw it as love, but you did permanent damage to your children. To see you now, pimping a new 2-bit record company AND YOUR SON JUST DIED says that you only care about your selfish self. Stop and think about it. You may as well have been standing there with Dr. Conrad Murray as co-murderer. Mike's life crumbled because of the issues from his childhood. You may not have had the intent, but by now someone should have told you.
Joe we don't want to see you, nor hear you, nor about your upcoming sploitation, nor Franklin right now. Please don't raise a hand to Prince Michael, Paris Katherine nor Blanket. Give us some space to grieve our loss of Mike before you start the drama. Give us a break at least until after we bury Mike next year. Do you not know you have a dead child? Let Janet be the Family spokesperson.
Much appreciated!

BUT I need to say now, Joseph Jackson obviously does not know the depths of hate our people have for how he treated Michael, does he? Hell it's part of the reason we gave Mike a pass on looking so much like a white woman, we know he had issues and that the issues were all named Joseph Jackson

The Secret Council of American Negroes may be an "old" organization, but we are not afraid to shake things up a bit and try something new. Recently SCAN hired the advertising firm of Goldman-Black-Sanchez-Black to tailor our latest advertising campaign for black women. But it's not a campaign to sell things to black women. It is a campaign FOR black women. It is an effort to combat all those stereotypes men of every color have of our wonderful women. Men who see black women as a step down rather than a step up. This is for every black woman of every shade and personality who wants to get married and have a child at some point in their lives. They have tired of being the bridesmaid at their white girlfriends' weddings. They are sick of looking at other happy couples thinking, "Why not me?" Tired of every girl being the desired girl accept a black girl.
We at SCAN are dedicated to making sure everyone knows how great a black woman can be. We want to break down the stereotypes and get our sisters some satisfaction. So much like how less prominent countries you wouldn't think of visiting put together splashy commercials to get people to change their perception, SCAN is kicking off a new, jazzy, hip campaign to lure you to the unexpected pleasures of black women.
Script for infomercial #001
TITLE: "Why not a black woman?" (Re-branding Campaign)
EXT. A busy street in the city
MUSIC (upbeat, light and peppy)
A white man is hurrying down a busy street dressed for work
NARRATOR: (booming male voice) Hey you!
The white man stops and looks around curiously.
NARRATOR: Yes, you! The one with no wedding ring!
The man looks at the camera sheepishly and looks in closer.
MAN: Yeah?
NARRATOR: You looked like you were in a hurry?
MAN: Yeah, um ... I was just ...
NARRATOR: Hey, how's your love life?
MAN: It's great, I guess.
NARRATOR: So, you're seeing someone?
MAN: Not really. I guess it's been awhile since I went on a date. Work keeps me pretty busy.
NARRATOR: Is it work or are you just striking out with the ladies?
MAN: I mean, I try to find a girl, but all the women I meet are either married already or bland and unsatisfying. I'm really lonely, but I don't know what to do.
NARRATOR: Have you ever considered a black girl?
MAN: (Nervous laugh) What? No!
NARRATOR: What? Are you some kind of racist?
MAN: (Embarrassed) No! I think I have a cousin who's married to some black guy or at least I think he's black. Wait. He might be Puerto Rican. Are Puerto Ricans black?
NARRATOR: Don't think about it too hard, you might give yourself a headache.
MAN: (Smiling) Oh. OK.
NARRATOR: But seriously, why not a black girl?
MAN: I don't know. I just find them kind of intimidating. I don't think they would like me. And aren't they really loud and pushy?
NARRATOR: (Hearty laugh) Oh, Jim.
MAN: Wait, how do you know my name?
NARRATOR: There are a lot of misconceptions out there about black women. They've been getting a bum rap for years.
Cut to footage of sad, pretty black girls
NARRATOR: Looked over for parts in movies. Denied the role of "the love interest," "the girlfriend" and "the femme fatal." Accused of being too bitchy or rude or unladylike. Being paraded out like jiggly set pieces in rap videos.
Cut back to man on street.
MAN: (Chipper) I like rap videos!
NARRATOR: (Annoyed) Yeah. Of course you do. But, black women aren't the women you think they are, Jim.
MAN: They aren't?
NARRATOR: Gosh no! That's why I'm going to let you in on a little secret ...
MAN: Really?
NARRATOR: Really!
Cut to footage of happy, pretty black women doing things like jogging, working, shopping and eating lunch with friends
NARRATOR: Black women are attractive and healthy. And many are college-educated with infinitely fulfilling careers and lots of interesting, reliable friends. They are good at being independent, but despite what you may have heard in the media, they really want to get married and have kids before they turn 40.
Cut back to man on street
MAN: Wow. I didn't know that. I thought they all, like, got pregnant out of high school.
NARRATOR: No. All of them haven't!
MAN: Oh, OK.
Cut to footage of black women having fun at a club, dancing with their friends.
NARRATOR: Black women have all the beauty and versatility of white women, but are 30 percent funnier and 75 percent better dancers.
MAN: I don't know. I really can't dance.
NARRATOR: It's OK. Black women prefer to dance with other women.
Cut back to man on street
MAN: (Overly eager) Really?
NARRATOR: But not the way you're thinking, pervert.
MAN: I'm sorry.
NARRATOR: It’s OK. Another surprising fact you may not know, black women don't age as quickly as other women!
Cut to a picture of Angela Bassett from “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”
NARRATOR: Here's Angela Bassett when she was in her 20s.
Cut to a picture of Angela Bassett at a film opening in 2007
NARRATOR: This is her today!
MAN: Wow.
Cut to a picture of Halle Berry from “Boomerang”
NARRATOR: And this is a picture of Halle Berry in the 1990s.
Cut to a picture of Halle Berry at the premiere of “Things We Lost in the Fire”

Obama Hosts LGBT Pride Reception; Gays Aren't Yet Convinced President Obama will be hosting a reception at the White House this afternoon, at 3:30, honoring LGBT pride month. But there's still a sentiment among gays that he hasn't yet delivered what he promised on the campaign trail, and some in attendance (at least a couple leaders of gay rights groups will be there) are skeptical of his administration.
The administration's stance on the Defense of Marriage Act--which the Department of Justice recently defended--and a lack of progress on Don't Ask, Don't Tell lie at the heart of their frustrations.
Change has to come through Congress, and there's been some progress there with hate crimes legislation moving in the House and seeing a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing last week. But gay rights activists are looking for the White House to fast-track those policies through the legislative branch.
"There are a lot of sore points, and so it will be interesting to see what happens this afternoon, whether the president is going to have something significant to announce, or whther this is going to be a nice little reception, or what they hope is a nice little reception," Lambda Legal Executive Director Kevin Cathcart, an invited guest, said.
Cathcart said no one will be looking to give Obama a rough time, but that politically involved attendees are generally hoping to leave feeling good about the administration.
"I hope they don't waste this opportunity, because it's theirs to win or lose," Cathcart said.
I'm fully supportive of Gay rights, including marriage equality, but I am getting sick and tired of these self-serving whining mother fuckers. The President is prioritizing his domestic agenda based on the overall impact of policy initiatives to the country as a whole.
1. Economy 2. Health Care 3. Environment 4. Immigration Reform 5. Education 6. DADT and DoMA
They have every right to withhold their money and their votes. If they don't like the President's priorities, then just wait for the next GOP Administration. Maybe they'll better serve their interests.

Somehow I think for some gay activists they won't be satisfied unless Obama has sex with Biden on the White House lawn.

Ruth, sorry to say Mike trumps everything this week. The POTUS could stand up at Mike's funeral and say I'm resigning and people would say "okay, move out of the way so we can see Mike's casket, Katherine, Janet, Tito, the 3 kids". Al Sharpton is a phony. He's on his show defending Joe Jackson pimping his record label on the red carpet. He's also dropped the fact, about 8 times, that's he talking live from the kitchen of the Jackson family home.
He's yet another leech sucking the life out of what's left of MJ's legacy.
And of course, he had no complaint about the BET Awards last night.
i gotta hand it to al. i'm amazed how quickly he got his conk right, got his best civil rights suit cleaned and pressed, managed to dig up an old dusty picture of him and mike, and be all prepared to give a press conference so soon after mike died.
like flava flav says, "wooooooow".
Myth
Girl you are crazzzzzzzzzyyyy...but you don't lie. Now, just how is he going to be paid for this?
Myth
Is this on Sirius Radio? See somebody has already called Joe on it. Call in and ask him who the hell is Franklin and why the hell is he bringing a promoter with him to an awards show that he is supposed to be mourning his son he killed.
itgurl_29
I'm listening to a Charlotte radio station. Al's not on his own show today, someone else is filling in. But he made a point to call in, live from the Jackson family kitchen in case you didn't know the first 8 times he mentioned it. And he defended Joe's pimping of his record label by claiming that that is what Michael would have wanted. Yes, Al Sharpton claimed that Michael would have wanted his father on the red carpet pimping his record label three days after he's passed.
Like I said, Sharpton's just another leech. There were leeches in Michael's life and now there are leeches in his death, and one of them is Sharpton.
Myth
Is there really gonna be a Sha-Ne-Ne and Wanda movie? Or was that just out take coonery too?
Miranda
That was just a coonery skit......(it has to be....right???)

Damn. I never knew Michael Bay, producer of the Transformers movie, was a neocon Obama hater:
...one shouldn’t miss the extent to which TROFT is also an incredibly engagé political text, a searing indictment of Obama’s liberal fascist United States of America. After all, though the film doesn’t dwell on the point, one critical turn in the storyline comes when a heroic Major in the United States Army (or possibly Air Force) decides to disobey orders and mutiny against a civilian operative specifically sent by POTUS to take command of the operation. But what’s more, this is no rogue special forces officer, he’s clearly supported in his action by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who elects to turn a blind eye, and leave President Obama (who’s named specifically) in the dark as he cowers in fear in an underground bunker. Obama, you see, has ordered American forces to attempt to appease the Deceptecon threat by halting all collaboration with the Autobots, and agreeing to turn Sam Witwicky over to the forces of evil. By defying Obama and staging what amounts to a coup, the military saves the day.
Promoting the "Obama is a coward" meme in a multimillion dollar blockbuster? Interesting.
danadevin74
damn that was slick wasn't it?
somebody needs to make the Thunder Cats movie and let President Obama be the hero president in that movie
spirit_55z
I didn't see the first Transformers movie, and sho nuff won't be seeing this one.

Did you read about the raciststereotype bot characters Skid and Mudflats ...names are apt.
These twin bots constantly brawl, bicker in rap slang, acknowledge they can't read and one has a gold tooth.
okaaaay?
but there's more.
they have no positive effect on the movie...they serve no real purpose and when action gets serious..they disappear (with me still?) entirely...they only exist to talk bad ebonics, beat each other up and talk about how stupid each other is.
And since they are robots...we are not allowed to call it racist!!
I saw it and had no problems with it....maybe it's just me but when i go 2 the show, i try 2 leave all that behind and just enjoy the movie.....but i also couldn't enjoy it the way i wanted 2 cause i was sitting in the show when i got the news bout Michael Jackson!!!
DWS2
I did not hear Obama's name mentioned in the movie, but I did think to myself that the blatant disrespect for the POTUS could have been deliberate swipe at his administration.
DWS2
Warning...Rant!!!!
So let's see, while many of us were distracted by the "Gin and Juice" AKA BET Awards, the high court was snatching the legal concept of "disparate impact" out from under us. My people, my people it is truly time to WAKE UP! The rules of the game are a changin...again.
Myth
JJP, Tina is a "helluva" performer. JJP never does anything nice and easy. Hahahaha! We always do it NICE and ROUGH.
Anxiety just hit me, is Dap Daddy Joe Jackson gonna be around Mike's kids??? OMG, he's such an opportunist that he is going to try to transform Prince Mike and Blanket into Mike with an ironing cord. OMG Janet didn't you want some kids??! Why is it that the ones who do the running of people crazy and drive them to their death KEEP standing and never succumb to there on evil? A new record company my azz...and who the hell is Franklin?
whiterosebuddy
Hey everybody know Daddy Jackson got the touch...he might just turn lil joe, lil kathryn and blanket, into the Jonas Brothers...a huge hit complete with their star studded family history.
Let's see what would be a good name for this act...I know, I know...
RoyalJacksons!!
Myth
'I said sing it like yo daddy...Ima run this video one more time and give yo azzes one final time to get the moonwalk down pat. Blanket get over here and be still 'fo I hit you with this ironing cord."
2nd Generation of Screw Ups!!
whiterosebuddy
lmao...you mean
secondgeneration multibillionaire screw ups!!
Myth
The tragic thing about it, Joe still proves to be mentally capable of screwing up Mike's kids. The last two days have shown me that he doesn't have a clue that what comes out of his mouth comes straight from his self-centered mind. No way I would raise Mike's kids in that Jackson compound. They haven't been around that kind of ignorance.
spirit_55z
Perish the thought of Joe Jackson ever promoting Michael's kids for entertainment value.
If Kathterine get guardianship of the kids, I hope she keeps Joe Jackson as far away as she can from pimping his grandchildren.
Myth
She couldn't when she was younger and quicker, so why do you think she can handle her deranged husband now? Please.
The only option is that Janet always wanted kids and she don't mind no melanin kids.
spirit_55z
Don't be fooled by Katherine's age and motion. Joe appeared feeble, scattered, and disconnected yesterday.
I think Katherine with the help of Janet, can handle Joe.
Myth
With Katherine being 80, maybe Janet will evetually accept the responsibility. She always has wanted kids.
