Politico has a great ideas piece on their site today (buried of course).
It takes to task the misinformation, unsubstantiated claims and downright illogic being disseminated from the Left and the Right about Iran. For far different reasons, both sides are misreading what's going on in Iran. As much as both sides want to believe this is a revolution against the Iranian regime, there is no evidence to support that. There is a big damn difference between contesting the legitimacy of an election and contesting the legitimacy of your government. As much as we, Democrats, don't want to admit it, there is a good damn possibility that Ahmadinejad won that election. Vote rigging and his victory are not mutually exclusive. At best Moussavi got 50% of the vote, the question is who got to plus 1? If Moussavi did win, shouldn't we be investigating who this man is?; what he stands for?; and whether he will help or undermine our security interests? As much as many white Liberals want to portray him as some sort of of Persian Martin Luther King Jr., he is NOT! Shouldn't someone be asking if we're potentially propping up a wolf in sheeps clothing--LIKE WE'VE DONE COUNTLESS TIMES BEFORE?
Liberals are acting as badly as NeoCons did with Iraq, asserting that Iranians want us to help free them from their regime. Even if we are to believe that Moussavi supporters want us to do that. And they certainly haven't asked us to. What about the other 50%?
Gates Creates Cyber-Defense Command By Ellen Nakashima Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, June 24, 2009
Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates issued an order yesterday establishing a command that will defend military networks against computer attacks and develop offensive cyber-weapons, but he also directed that the structure be ready to help safeguard civilian systems.
In a memo to senior military leaders, Gates said he will recommend that President Obama designate that the new command be led by the director of the National Security Agency, the world's largest electronic intelligence-gathering agency. The current NSA director, Lt. Gen. Keith B. Alexander, is expected to be awarded a fourth star and to lead the cyber-command.
Gates or his deputy had been expected to announce the command in a speech a week ago. Analysts said making the announcement by memo is in keeping with the Pentagon's effort to tamp down concerns that the Defense Department and the NSA will dominate efforts to protect the nation's computer networks.
Boy oh boy, what a another day of GOP hypocrisy to the fullest. IMO, Sanford only came forward because he was caught... "I wanted to do something exotic"... what double speak, he surely did want to do something, rather someone exotic. Like Ensign, Sanford had his own comment in regards to infidelity back when Clinton had his sex scandal:
While serving as a U.S. congressman, Sanford was incredibly critical of his colleagues’ marital misdeeds, including the affairs of former congressman Bob Livingston and President Bill Clinton:
“The bottom line, though, is I am sure there will be a lot of legalistic explanations pointing out that the president lied under oath. His situation was not under oath. The bottom line, though, is he still lied. He lied under a different oath, and that is the oath to his wife. So it’s got to be taken very, very seriously.” [Sanford on Livingston, CNN, 12/18/98]
“We ought to ask questions…rather than circle the wagons for one of our tribe.” [Sanford on how the GOP reacts to affairs, New York Post, 12/20/98]
“I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign). I come from the business side. If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he’d be gone.” [Sanford on Clinton, The Post and Courier, 9/12/98]
“The issue of lying is probably the biggest harm, if you will, to the system of Democratic government, representatives government, because it undermines trust. And if you undermine trust in our system, you undermine everything.” [Sanford on Clinton, CNN, 2/16/99]
And the GOP continuously want to talk about their party being the party of family and moral values and talk about those who aren't GOP lack them, when will they learn they really to abandon that platform and get out of their glass houses?
carolinagirl
Hell, everyone else is dedicating songs to the Sanfords, here's mine:
The Pattersons had an "agreement," and Patterson never supported legislative actions that were contrary to his own personal behavior, ie. hypocritical.
Patterson didn't abandon his four sons on Father's day for some coochie in whole 'nother hemisphere. Ain't nobody gonna be surprised when those four boys grow up to be whoremongers either...the apple don't fall too far from the tree.
twg
Ain't nobody gonna be surprised when those four boys grow up to be whoremongers either...the apple don't fall too far from the tree.
I agree, but think your rant applies to Paterson, Spitzer, Ensign, and anyone else cheats and has children. Some will just learn slicker methods.
panafya
Okay so if Sanford's wife knew about the affair 5 months ago, what was she all up and saying about not knowing where her husband was all weekend. Lies. Lies. Damned Lies.
And yea, all he went to Argentina to do was spend "five days of my life crying."
The Governor wasn't planning on coming back until a day or so later. He cut the trip short because the press went looking for him.
She is a married woman with 2 children. He probably was crying because he has to give her up! He still likes her!
Whew Lawd...these cheating sobs!

Stop with the jokes.I for one is piss I tell you I AM PISSED!!! How dare he outsource a mistress. A Latina fer chrissakes. What he couldnt find a good ol American for his piece on the side.Lou Dobbs will have a stroke tonight.

Yeah, you're right......we got perfectly good all-american ass right here he could have had! Oh well....you know how they say you have to outsource cause Americans lazy.
Maybe Huckabee wasn't being a racist when he called Sonia Sotomayor, "Maria." Maybe it was freudian slip.
Maybe Huckabee got a Maria in Argentina too? I say we start hooking these rightgeous muthaphuckas up to lie detector tests.

You guys are hys-terical!! I just started coming here recently and had to stay after I read the smack down on Michael Steele. I had to print that shizz out and show it to a co-worker and then shred it b/c it was so funny. Ya'all a trip.
As for Sanford, well he got his junk stuck in his fly and I hope he doesn't get to weasel out of it.

Come on Sanford whats good for the goose is good for the gander Marc Sanford on the Impeachment of Bill Clinton in the build up to the South Carolina primary in January 2008. "And I voted to impeach, because I think that, you know, moral legitimacy is one of the precursors to a legitimate legacy"
Sepia
"And the chickeeeeeeeeeeeens *spins around* have come home to roost!"
Heh...you just know that when the Associate Press asked Jenny where her husband was.....instead of the agreed upon answer that she was SUPPOSED to give, a light bulb came on...and out of her mouth came "i don't know"......
Republican Whore-Sluts...the gift that keeps on giving, lmao.
Time for the republicans to have that Come-To-Jesus, Hoe-Down Meeting...please don't forget to bring your shouting shoes.
Time for Ted Haggard and Jimmy Swaggert to come out of exile and lead the revival.
What about family values? What about the kids? What did they learn today? Governors Up, Hoes Down!....in the words of Maya Angelou, them "filthy, nasty peckerwoods."
How much holy oil will it take to sanctify these adulterers? They need to get on plane to Saudi Arabia.
rikyrah
I just thought of something..
FIVE MONTHS?
He revealed this to his wife FIVE MONTHS ago, and it took him 5 months and A WEEK to 'break it off'?
Harry Reid is gushing all over Ensign. "He's my friend", blah, blah, fuckety blah!
Palin, please. There's shit burried on her ass too. It will be revealed, just a matter of time.
RobM
This is why Reid should resign. If this was Reid Ensign would not be his friend. This has to be hardball partisan politics until the Republicans stop. Immediately after the asswipe left the stage MSNBC had on a Republican strategist talking about how the Democrats shouldn't be trying to take advantage of this. The American people are tired of this and the press will rake him over the coals.
pjamma
If today taught us anything it's you can't get away with anything.
Miranda
That........and you should really pay your employees more, they'll cover better for you if you do.
Sepia
You know one of Palin's go-fers just stepped to her and said, "Them Neiman Marcus you got from the RNC would look real good with my outfit...".
OMG the GOP apologists are all over the tee vee now talking about how great Sanford is for being honest. Well, had his ass not disappeared for a week and become a national headline, would he have been telling the truth.
Fuck that, I STILL have jokes (to this asshole on MSNBC right now). It's not a whole different ballgame because the man is an adulterer.
caribgirl
Oh please, if he was honest he wouldn't have waited until he got caught to reveal the affair.
Exactly, but he's a republican so it's okay. When Edwards admitted HIS affair, he STILL got reamed by the press.

Corn on "Hardball": Michelle Obama Helping Health Care Reform? — By David Corn | Tue June 23, 2009 4:00 PM PST
On a day when the politerati focused on President Barack Obama's press conference (Iran, health care, Iran, health care, the economy, smoking, Iran), Chris Matthews, Richard Wolffe, and I went off-topic to discuss whether Michelle Obama can help her husband sell the health care bill now under construction in Congress. We then moved on to the "disappearance" of GOP South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford.
The best thing about this is his wife did not stand by her man. I'd like to say take him to the cleaners but I honestly hope the two of you bankrupt each other. You are clearly a racist class conscious piece of trash to put up with a man whom won't take money to help his state.
rikyrah
I think his wife has the real money.
Admiral_Komack
If not...she soon will. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
spirit_55z
Which explains why she gave him up and told the press she didn't know the whereabouts of that mofo.
I knew he had a piece of something on the side when she gave him up. I hope she NAILS him, make that sucker pay.
MoObama
She was not going to support the Appalachian vacation story. I have hiked in the Appalachian Mountains and I would never go alone; heck, I didn't want to go to the rest stop bathroom alone. To your point that she might nail the sucker, don't be flabbergasted if she stands by him. She has small children and women will sometimes sleep with the devil if it means a better life for their children…go figure!
danadevin74
she might stay with him because of emotional reasons because of her kids but she doesn't have to depend on him for finances
his wife is the granddaughter of Bolton Sullivan, the founder of the Skil Corporation of Chicago she's an heiress
MoObama
I heard this morning that she is willing to take him back if he repents. Forgiveness is a virtue; I hope he comes to the realization of just what kind of women he is married to. Sometimes you don't appreciated your situation in life until you hit rock bottom. I didn't know she was an heriess.
Justice58
I noticed the stumbling at the beginning of the news conference and then I knew he had gotten a piece on the side.
Admiral_Komack
A hot, spicy piece! Ay, caramba!

Kudos to that gangsta a$$ Jenny Sanford for not standing by her trifling husband. Go 'head and keep it real sista.

He can stand there by his damn self, baby!

thats right why should the wife stand there looking stupid
She really called the press? She seemed like she didn't care.

it's amazing Lindsey Graham hasen't been caught maybe he pays out good hush money

Jenny was NOT going to be Silda Spitzer!
No way would I have stood there like Silda looking broken hearted & sad. Hell Naw!!!! Let his ass squirm before the country by himself.
Stand by your man..... my ass!
Admiral_Komack
I think Jenny could have stood there with Mark...until Mark said he cheated on her...then she would have turned into the Queen from "300"...and gutted him like a fish.

LOL
Okay, Mike Tyson!
Mike Tyson said that to one of his opponents before a boxing match. "Ima gut him like a fish"! Ole Iron Mike!

With apologies to the Field Negro, I have to say leaving your cheating hubby twisting in the wind during his "walk-of-shame" is definitely field negro behavior.

Jenny Sanford walking round the house with "Epiphany" by Chrisette Michelle blasting.....head bobbing.....swaying on the balcony raising her martini to her girls - I've seen this scene before.
She told his ass "to the left" and kept it pushing. LOL!
Now the Repuiblicans are all "the Dems shouldn't make political hay out of this" HA!
spirit_55z
Oh there's enough on this clown to make enough politcal hay for a muthafucking hayride.
Exhibit #1 Ty'Sheoma Bethea and the delapidated schools in SC. #2 Sanford's refusal to accept stimulus for his state, but instead excepted stimulus from his mistress
Miranda
You must not know bout me! You must not know bout me!
yeah Jenny didn't even bother rolling with the usual script....ole girl basically told the press "he better call Tyrone........but cha can't use my phone."
She and her girls will be drinking cosmopolitans tonight and laughing it right on up.
CNN is making excuses for him now saying "he's only human" but let's remember when John Edwards' affair came out, and what they did with Bill Clinton. Hell, imagine if it were OBAMA. They wouldn't be making apologies for him.
I really think peoples sexual behavior should be a private matter. This whole public obsession borders on ridiculous.
MsKitty
I don't think it's so much the sexual behavior as Sanford being hoisted on his own petard. He's been front and center for years crowing about traditional family values, how marriage between a man and woman is so sacred, etc. People like this need to be called out on their hypocrisy early and often IMO. And we've yet to discover whether Sanford jetted down to Buenos Aires on the taxpayers dime, which would be in bad form to say the least considering how jacked up the SC economy is compared to the rest of the country.
Personally, I don't give a rat's ass WHAT they do on their own time in their bedroom. it wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't so much damn HYPOCRISY. It's almost like they think marriage is between a man, a woman, and his mistress/boyfriend (depending on who you are talking about). I don't care WHAT they do in their bedrooms, but when they deny OTHERS the right to marry saying it's because marriage is so sanctified and between a man and a woman I have a problem.
RobM
On point.
Miranda
Seems to me the GOP makes the best case for legalizing gay marriage, better than anyone in the LBGT community ever could. LOL
Newt: Marriage should be between a man and a woman!!!
Oh really? Yours wasn't!
MoObama
Sexual behavior is never private when you are a public figure. It's not even a private matter when you are Joe Six-pack; the neighbors know, church members know, people in the mall look at you like they probably know. Sin always shines a spotlight on your behind.
Yeah well calling his behavior sin means that you better be prepared to have your behavior judged by others.
MoObama
No one is to judge another person only God can judge. That being said, you can not do anything you want and not face consequences; what you do in the dark will come out into the light, this is what I meant by sin will shine a spotlight on your behind. Now the governor has a spotlight shining on his finances in relation to his trips to Argentina.
Miranda
As soon as he turned the ignition in that government owned SUV, it was no longer a private matter.
lamh32
Yeah, I heard that from Crowley. The spin will be that he was extremely honest, whatever.
I don't care about your "I apologize" with that cute south carolian twang.....this is about holding OTHER people to the prism you apparently do NOT really hold yourself, although you profess your 'faith in God.'
What a prick - what a prick. he needs to take a shower.....
Leota2
Mark Sanford is on whining through his damned teeth. He stuttered for the first minute and could barely speak. Creepin' . . . . Damn. Hey, if they didn't preach at everybody and be hypocrites--who'd care?
when it first started I just kept thinking "this is the strangest press conference I've ever seen"
RobM
AG Holder you need to go to Capital Hill right now, take this information and start an investigation yesterday. You should put these health insures on STFU and bend over we are going to have a public option. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/ar...
Miranda
Well they can start by investigating John Oxendine's fat head here in Georgia. I suspect quite a few other Insurance Commissioner's of various states need to be investigated along with the insurers - they're all in bed together.
ANOTHER Republican Affair? Gotta love those Republican family values. This is just a strange press conference.
Justice58
He developed a relationship with someone in Argentina!
Miranda
What? So it was someone he met before and went back to see her/him??
Justice58
Yes, he stated the relationship started out as friends and developed into a sexual relationship.
Miranda
Hold up.....so she was in the states....but she lives in Argentina?? I have so many questions.....not because they're important, but because I love a good meltdown like this and need to know the juicy details that will paint the sordid picture.
So he's been sleeping with this chick and then she went back to Argentina and he decided to go visit?
Justice58
IIRC, he met the woman 8 years ago. It started out as a friendship and over emails developed into a sexual relationship.
He did sound very sympathic to the woman because he admitted her hurt her also. That sounds like he still likes her.
Boy did we call it here. Now all that needs to come out is it's really a man. That FOOL skipped out on FATHER'S DAY with his FOUR sons to hang out with his "girlfriend" in Argentina?
I think Sanford is going to resign. If he doesn't - then, he REALLY is much more narcissistic than I already think he is. You don't disappear on Father's Day weekend when you have FOUR SMALL children (boys, ITC*), not tell your wife or staff or have a contingency plan in place in the event of a catastrophe.
Or else - you're just the world's biggest prick.
*in this case - for the acronym-challenged, like me!
lamh32
Oh, and apparently, it's "midwinter' now in the Southern Hemisphere. Meaning it's kinda chilly to be driving along or visiting the BA(buenos ares) coastline.

Sarah Palin: America's Top Republican Sarah Palin is the most popular (though most divisive) of the top GOP figures in the land, according to a new poll from Pew, which compared her to Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Michael Steele. This, of course, leaves out some other important GOP figures--most notably Mike Huckabee, whose strong showing in the 2008 GOP primary and continued presence on Fox News places him in the well-known category along with those four.
This comes after a June 2 CNN poll showed no clear frontrunner in the 2012 primary race, with Huckabee slightly ahead of the pack.
Here's how their favorable/unfavorables break down. Huckabee was included, along with Romney, Palin, and Gingrich, in an automated Public Policy Polling survey June 18, so I'll include his line from that survey*.
National fav/unfav % GOP fav/unfav % Sarah Palin: 45/44 73/17 Mitt Romney: 40/28 57/18 Newt Gingrich: 35/38 55/22 Michael Steele: 23/14 28/14 Mike Huckabee*: 43/35 70/17
Palin edges Huckabee as the most popular among Republicans. They're both vastly popular among the Republicans polled by Pew, though Palin is divisive nationally (about the same number view her unfavorably as favorably). If the 2012 GOP primary were today, Palin might just win it; if the general election were tomorrow, she'd probably lose.
Another tidbit from Pew's findings: public impressions of Palin haven't changed much since October, with her total favorability climbing three percent since then, compared to 10 percent for Romney since Feb. 2008. Those time periods are far different, but the way Pew presents it, Palin's public image has crystallized in a polarizing fashion, and the public has more or less made up their minds about her, one way or the other.
I still think that Stanford will get away with whatever, unless the "reporters" at this press conference ask some real good questions. What this one is gonna need is some National Enquirer type young hungry reporter who wants to make a name for themselves.
Until/unless this happens, ain't nothing gonna happen to Sanford. Though he definitely shouldn't be running for Prez in 2012, but you never know with these wingnuts.
Town
This is all Obama's fault and here's why...
The SC legislature slapped Mark down and made him take the stimulus.
Mark went home to Jenny. She found out he had been giving his own stimulus package to a SC state employee. She threw him out of the Governor's Mansion.
Mark decided to give further stimulus to the employee. They planned to meet up and fly off somewhere.
The Governor's office didn't know where he was but told the Appalachian story because that's where Marky Mark had been stimulating his employee. So they figured that's where he was again.
The reporters got stimulated by the thought of a juicy story, tracked down his car and staked out the airport.
Now the Lt. Gov is stimulated by the thought of maybe becoming Gov. in a few hours/days/weeks. He called Pat Quinn of IL for tips.
Rod Blagojevich is stimulated by the thought that he's not the only laughingstock scandal ridden governor in the land.
All this happened because Obama wants STIMULUS in the land.
It's all Obama's fault.
That is all.
spirit_55z
ROTFLMBAO!!!!!
And it was also Ty'Sheoma Bethea's fault too!
parker404
Let's not get started on Ty'Sheoma's uppity behind. How dare she expect to get an education at school! The nerve. She should have been satisfied with the free lunch.
Things are still murky on the Mark Sanford story. But it's looking increasingly likely that Sanford's trip to Argentina was about more than a scenic drive down the coast.
"There is some evidence he was not alone," a source in South Carolina politics told TPMmuckraker. "The other shoe's gonna drop. I believe there's a reason he wanted to drop his SLED detail."
According to the source, a second car was identified at the Columbia airport, next to the SUV Sanford is believed to have used. Two additional sources in South Carolina politics said the same thing.
Separately, Will Folks, a former spokesman for Sanford who now runs a South Carolina political blog, is reporting that, according to a source, the Sanfords have been having problems in their marriage and have "been in marital counseling for several weeks now."
We should have some more information on this soon. Sanford's office has called a 2pm press conference, and Politico's Mike Allen tweets that according to the South Carolina press, the "woman question will be asked directly and clinically (no parsing)."
Justice58
The Governor tried to clown PBO about the stimulus package and now this has blown up in his face. Everytime someone tries to do something dirty to the President..Ka Pow..
There get hit right back in the face! Karma!
MsKitty
I've noticed that too. I'm not the most religious person, but it makes you wonder about the cosmic/divine forces at play. In particular I'm thinking of that line about enemies becoming footstools (I'm blanking on the specific verse).

DID SANFORD BELIEVE HIS OWN B.S.?
The Mark Sanford story gets more bizarre -- now it turns out he was cruising along the coast of Buenos Aires ("I wanted to do something exotic"), not writing or hiking the Appalachian Trail. MSNBC's Mark Murray says, "Who goes to one of the world's most romantic cities in the world alone?" -- but Sanford says he was unaccompanied. (It occurs to me that profoundly bipolar people take major trips like this on impulse, sometimes alone -- but I can't find any evidence of manic behavior in news reports about Sanford.)
Not checking in with his family is peculiar -- but I'm not sure it's so odd that he didn't check in with staff. Remember, he's one of the top slingers of Limbaugh/Fox/Norquist-style talking points these days. If you say government is inherently evil, isn't it possible that eventually you'll start to believe your own bullshit? And if government is evil, isn't it a good thing when nobody knows where the governor is, even if you're the governor?
*****
Sanford has been accused of liking to travel on other people's dime, though I can't tell whether his degree of travel is unusual. When Sanford, then a congressman, ran against incumbent governor Jim Hodges in 2002, Hodges complained about Sanford's "taxpayer-funded junkets to 18 countries and four continents," including "Argentina (twice)" and a number of other Latin American countries. (Also see this complaint, where we learn details of a Sanford trip to Cuba, of all places, via the Bahamas.) Later, as governor, he was ranked as one of the top 50 travel spenders among state employees, "based on the total amount that he spent on trips paid by his office and those paid by the state Commerce Department. Sanford has traveled to China, Argentina and Brazil through the Commerce Department, which has travel reports showing taxpayers covering $21,488 for those trips. Sanford also spent $1,976 in travel through his office." Sanford has also, as governor, met with Argentine ambassador and his wife in South Carolina. Make of all that what you will.... http://nomoremister.blogspot.com/

Maybe he was carrying on an affair with the Argentine ambassador, his wife or both, since he seems to like going to Argentina so much.

Well ya know he was just there for an exotic vacation.....even though its winter in Argentina.
Davis hits party wall in Alabama Tags:2010 Election, Artur Davis, Georgia By ALEX ISENSTADT | 6/24/09 5:08 AM EDT
As he embarks on his bid to become the first African-American governor of a Deep South state since Reconstruction, Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.) is meeting stiff resistance from an unlikely source: key members of Alabama’s Democratic establishment.
Alabama Democratic Conference Chairman Joe Reed and Alabama Education Association Executive Secretary Paul Hubbert confirmed to POLITICO this week that they had been holding meetings with potential Democratic primary challengers to Davis, a four-term congressman who is widely regarded as the leading contender for his party’s nomination.
To say that Reed and Hubbert, two Montgomery-based power brokers who have dominated the state’s political scene for decades, have little love lost for Davis would be something of an understatement. The 41-year-old Birmingham congressman has made a habit of attacking the state’s political establishment, which puts his campaign squarely at odds with not only the current Republican administration but also two of the most powerful Democrats in Alabama.
Reed’s ADC is the organization that encompasses the African-American wing of the Alabama Democratic Party. Hubbert is the vice chairman of the state party and the head of the state teachers union, widely recognized as one of the most powerful in the nation.
“If you ask me what it is we’re fighting against in this campaign, it’s not a set of people but a set of forces and old ideas that specializes in telling us that we cannot change things,” Davis said in his announcement speech. “I will give you a governor and an administration that believes Alabama is ready for the 21st century.”
Davis’s concerted effort to define himself as a reform-minded candidate who rises above race and ideology has won him early support. A Public Policy Polling survey conducted earlier this month found Davis leading prospective Republican rivals Roy Moore, Kay Ivey and Tim James.
But that approach has also put him at odds with two key political players who have long controlled the levers of the party power. The Associated Press reported earlier this month that Reed and Hubbert met with Circuit Court Judge Charles Price of Montgomery and Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb to discuss their potential gubernatorial candidacies.
“You do get a sense, if you walk into Montgomery and you talk to Democrats, ... that they are fearful that he will upset the apple cart,” said Natalie Davis, a political scientist at Birmingham-Southern College and a veteran observer of the Alabama political scene.
The conflict underscores the needle Davis must thread in a conservative state with a history of racially polarized politics: He must maintain the support of the old-guard Democratic establishment while, at the same time, casting himself as a political figure of a new stripe, one who is capable of reaching beyond the state’s traditional Democratic constituencies.
“They have to walk the tightrope,” said David Mowery, an Alabama-based Democratic strategist who managed Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright’s successful 2008 campaign for the U.S. House. “It’s always, always, always going to be a tightrope.”
“You can’t win a governor’s race in Alabama without winning the African-American vote and turning out the white vote,” said Davis’s campaign manager, Jessica Vanden Berg. “All these people, you have to reach out to. There’s no stone left unturned.”
Davis’s uneasy relationship with the 70-year-old Reed, who is African-American, dates back to 2002, when Davis, then a 35-year-old attorney, ousted Rep. Earl Hilliard (D-Ala.), a five-term congressman who had close ties to Reed and the ADC. In 2008, Davis and Reed clashed yet again when Davis vigorously supported the presidential primary bid of Barack Obama and Reed was an ardent backer of Hillary Clinton.
Sorry Artur.....it ain't happening. If Joe Reed is not even backing you, ya dont stand a chance in hell. Joe Reed is the end all - be all of the Democratic party in the state of Alabama. The only thing that can help is if Paul Bear Bryant raises from the dead and endorses you...short of that, it aint happening.
Chris Matthews put morning joke and side kick Mika on slam this morning about health care. here. You know me, I am all about exposing the wolf in sheep's clothing that is morning joke.
Justice58
Joe had his nerve telling Chris to let him get a word in. He interrupts people all the time. Chris was pounding his ass & he got irritated.
And what was Mika doing? I mean really. Can she suck up anymore than that?
pjamma
I don't get Joe and Mika. One, they sit on top of each other every day (though Mike and Willy do too which is just weird) two, the are traveling around the country together to promote his book, three, they go to tons of events together outside of work hours and are photographed together around NY and Washington constantly. I think it's odd. They are both married so you would think their partners would attend functions with him. Imagine if Obama left Michelle at home and went to every social event with Hillary. It wouldn't look right. At least to me.

I have heard Mika & Joe got something going on!

What purpose does Mika serve on that show? I've never heard her express an opinion that I thought reflected intelligence. Joe loves to go on and on about when he was in congress, why isn't he there now or why doesn't he run for office? Oh right, then he might have to talk about the dead woman found in his home. Could he get a tv show if he was black? He'd be lucky not to be in jail.
