The Iranian Government is kicking out the BBC.
PTCruiser
Bad move. Bad move.
BTW, check out Juan Cole's analysis of the Iranian elections. He is a Middle East scholar who is quite evenhanded in his take on events there. AIPAC and other American foreign policy hawks detest him.
I know...he bitchslapped someone trying to be extreme the other day with Fareed Zakaria.

Anyone else love Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network?
Lisa M
I can't watch it too much because I think I gain at least five pounds an episode.
PTCruiser
I watch it but I seldom crave any of the food that is profiled except, perhaps, fish tacos and other items that won't clog my arteries. I also watch Bizarre Foods but primarily because it literally amazes me what Andrew Zimmerman is willing to eat. Every time he shoves a spoon or forkful of sheep or pork innards in his mouth I wonder about his life expectancy.
TruthSeeker
Ha!
That episode with the restaurant where they make their own aioli and have grilled tuna fish burgers was good...they have a farm that grows their own vegetables, and they make their own mozzarella, not exactly low fat, but there's something to be said for putting some love into food.
Here's to healthy arteries.
TruthSeeker
I catch it occasionally. It's a monument to excess, and the grunts of pleasure from that host while shoving a 12 inch hamburger into his mouth.... I like it like I like a murder scene in a Stephen King novel. I'm fascinated with it as I'm fascinated with a pustule on a teenager's face. The host jams his finger into the pan and shoves a piece of meat into his mouth, then wipes his thumb onto his tongue..like some horrendous porno movie...I cannot look away, yet feel sickened. All that is left is for me to take a gravol, and go into a fetal position of disgust.
The show where the Iron Chef host sailed through the Caribbean eating spiny lobster and jerk was fantastic though, the blue water gave me that nostalgic feeling.
Tony Williams was a monster on the drums! He was only 17 when he joined Miles' band. He died much, much too soon: heart attack while in the recovery room after a gall bladder operation. Sad. Great and extremely influential musician.

Leon Panetta: Cheney Almost "Wishing That This Country Would Be Attacked Again" June 14, 2009 03:25 PM EST
WASHINGTON — CIA Director Leon Panetta says former Vice President Dick Cheney's criticism of the Obama administration's approach to terrorism almost suggests "he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point."
Panetta told The New Yorker for an article in its June 22 issue that Cheney "smells some blood in the water" on the issue of national security.
Cheney has said in several interviews that he thinks Obama is making the U.S. less safe. He has been critical of Obama for ordering the closure of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, halting enhanced interrogations of suspected terrorists and reversing other Bush administration initiatives he says helped to prevent attacks on the U.S.
Last month the former vice president offered a withering critique of Obama's policies and a defense of the Bush administration on the same day that Obama made a major speech about national security.
Panetta said of Cheney's remarks: "It's almost, a little bit, gallows politics. When you read behind it, it's almost as if he's wishing that this country would be attacked again, in order to make his point. I think that's dangerous politics."

Obama's Spending Plans May Pose Political Risks By Scott Wilson Washington Post Staff Writer Sunday, June 14, 2009
After enjoying months of towering poll numbers, legislative victories and well-received foreign policy initiatives, the White House has become increasingly concerned that President Obama's spending plans, which would require $9 trillion in government borrowing over the next decade, could become a political liability that defines the 2010 midterm elections.
Ican't stand the media the deficit came about because of Bush.
RobM
The deficit you are tallking about is not the one that is going to come about because of the intial costs of putting everyone in America on the plan if it is single payer, which it will be(No business will keep a private plan once Uncle sugar steps up). We will be paying to stablize people whom are in bad shape now because they can't afford their medications and things have gotten worse and all the other variations. Once you have everyone stabilized(my guess is 4 to 5 years) costs will drop off. More healthy people will be more productive so it will show up on the other side of the ledger. People will not see that or blileve it because it isn't tangible.
