As I remember the Obama political rhetoric, the rogue States were run by reasonable men and he would just engage in personal diplomacy as one reasonable man to another. This was total nonsense and anyone who bought it during the campaign was delusional.

I absolutely ADORE this photo of Mandel Ngan and President Obama.

No matter how much America's MSM try to portray black women and other WOC as hoochie mamas, video whores, and welfare queens, athletes, and entertainers, I hope images and stories of First Lady Michelle Obama, Sonia Sotomyer and all WOC continue on display.

Because we ARE all of that and then some, so STOP trying to define us.

RFE/RL: As you know, General, the debate over Guantanamo and enhanced interrogation techniques has become "Topic A" in Washington. In your view, does the closing of "Gitmo" and the abandonment of those techniques complicate the U.S. mission in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in the overall struggle against violent transnational extremist groups or does it help it?

Petraeus: I think, on balance, that those moves help it. In fact, I have long been on record as having testified and also in helping write doctrine for interrogation techniques that are completely in line with the Geneva Convention. And as a division commander in Iraq in the early days, we put out guidance very early on to make sure that our soldiers, in fact, knew that we needed to stay within those guidelines.

With respect to Guantanamo, I think that the closure in a responsible manner, obviously one that is certainly being worked out now by the Department of Justice -- I talked to the attorney general the other day [and] they have a very intensive effort ongoing to determine, indeed, what to do with the detainees who are left, how to deal with them in a legal way, and if continued incarceration is necessary -- again, how to take that forward.

But doing that in a responsible manner, I think, sends an important message to the world, as does the commitment of the United States to observe the Geneva Convention when it comes to the treatment of detainees.

News Flash! The president was not debating Cheney. Cheney believes he can rewrite his history. Its a shame the MSM would discuss his pontifications on foreign policy, national security or anything else. Moreover, I understand why Obama does not want to engage in prosecuting Bush/Cheney at this time; but it does not mean he will never engage.

The idea that Cheney is last weeks news is to give into the believe that people can only handle what is immediately in front of them. It's a mistake too many people make and allows the powerful to run roughshod over people.
Cheney wants, sought and obtained power. He isn't going to disappear like a story in the 24 hour news cycle. Like herpes he isn't going to go away.

The only thing DPRK has is the potential for hydroelectic power. Further it is protected by the PRC(I do not think they would tolerate US troops on the Yalu. So your suggestion that we even consider attacking the DPRK is so phony in so many ways it is disappointing.

what ive read is that north korea is searching for a replacement for Kim jong ill and alot of this is between his son and another military leader trying to appear tough.

North korea has finite amount of nuclear material. I agree they need a regime change. However we cant necessarily bomb them because of china and dont we have troops at the southern border of NK? I dont know the answer but i dont think we need to engage in a combat strategy at the moment.
