1. I understand the sentiment of those of you who don't agree with PBO's decisions via torture procecutions and realeasing the photos, but I don't think that you have thought about all of the consequenses that come with both. My knee jerk response was WTF? But I have marinated on it and I realize that 1) I don't see what good would come out of it. 2) I have barely heard any discussion on healthcare, energy reform, etc. The people who will benefit most from this stuff most is the media because other then anti gay beauty pagents and missing white girls nothing makes their dicks harder then a partisan food fight. 3) I believe that the Abu Grhab photos hurt our image and were a great recruting tool for Al Quieda, so how can I not be intellectually honest and not believe that these photos will do the same? 4) Fuck the dumb shit, we are all grown and decisions have to be made in real life. Grown folks don't get to do everything they want. Choices and priorities must be made. Not all issues the POTUS has to deal with are equal and never will be. If PBO doesn't want to sacrifice healthcare, economic reforms, energy and everything else he promised (he did not promise procecutions for torture) to get done behind this shit, I don't blame him. 5) Just as an aside, has anyone asked why photos of these crimes even exist? Why would they take pictures in the first place? Seems like the best way to cover one's tracks is not to leave in that are visible to anyone. I have to say that's a nagging question for me. You don't have to worry about photos being released if they aren't any, so who's the damn photographer?

All of this reminds me of the witch trials. There torture was used for confessions. Later in the light of reason, people realized there were no truth to any of the accusations and that the evidence produced by torture evaporated once it was examined by objective people. Why does torture produce bad evidence? Torturers by their very nature are more interested in the torture and getting excited by torture than anything else. They pay no attention to evidence gathered by logic, reason, and hard work. Quietly asking questions, spywork, and getting the trust of the detainee isn't exciting to them, so they don't pay any attention to that.
