First of all I didn't hear any black people asking for reparations– the whole thing is just a bunch of hoopla created by a bunch of over zealous right-wing activists! I am a highly educated black woman who happened to graduate third in her all white high school class and went on to get her doctorate degree and now teaches medical students at one of the most prestigious medical schools in the US. I do not smoke crack nor do any of my family members or colleagues and I resent you insinuating that the black stereotypes that racists choose to continually perpetuate are a correct representation of all blacks in this country. Maybe you should put away your white sheet and burning cross and move on because this non-crack smoking banana republic, express and ann taylor clothes wearing blacky with a PhD doesn't want a thing from YOU!!

Wow, I can't believe what I've just read but, you clearly know your history and are not afraid to tell the truth. Many people here, not only whites, don't look at the atrocities that have been committed against people of color in this country. The Native Americans are pretty much wiped out, and from the effects of what happen to them and what has happen to African Americans they are in bad shape. If all things were actually equal in this country can you imagine how great it would be?

I love America but I can't turn a blind I to what has been done to people of color here and abroad by whites. I cannot forget that not only whites have committed atrocities against other races either but at least other races can at least confess to their wrong doing. Iraq, Afghanistan, and Palestine, don't think for a second that those brown and black people are going to take what has happened to them sitting down.

They don't follow the bible, they follow the Quran and I don't think it says anything about why you kill my wife and children that I should turn the other cheek. It's a sad state of affairs isn't it? The low, low, low, twisted path we've taken as human beings. We have the ability to do such great things but instead we choose the evil in and of this world. Me, like you, I chosen the good.

Limbaugh is the master of the retorical device. He will use statistics such as Hybrids are down40% to show that no one wants them. But sales of big trucks are down 60% and he conviently forgets to mention this. He wants the right to be more to the right even when they are loosing electons. His theory is that conservitivs voted liberal becasue there was not a conservitive cantidate. This guy has used to much of those illegal drugs and put his mind in a time warp where his is doing a circul jerk with Reagan.

Well, I see it this way. If Rush, Newt and Chaney continue on this path, the President will waltz into his second term! Without the support of Blacks, Latinos and the youth votes, the GOP has about as much chance of winning back the White House as Rush has of being invited to a NAACP meeting as the keynote speaker. See the true right wing voters will be there for them, but there will be virtually no growth for their party. I love the people that they've picked to head their party, they just solidify the fact that we have the CORRECT man leading this Country.

Look, these people have but just one agenda: POWER! That’s it. One thing they understand is the use of hate to accomplish political goals. They could care less about the plight of poor whites, they only want their votes. How do they do that? Well, just scare the hell out of them. Blackie will make you his slave rhetoric. This is how it started in Germany a long time ago for you who aren't history buffs. The extreme right needed a group to pin all the blame on, the Jews. If we give this guy and those like him a platform to turn all of against each other, then they win. If the good people of Germany would have just stood up to Fascism and the greater majority would not have allowed itself to be led like lambs, WWII would probably not have happened. I believe in this country. I believe there is a salient voice of good will that makes this country what it is. Whites, Blacks, Latinos and many others who get up and go to work each day who only want a good life and not a free ride. I see it, living in a diverse society like Houston where nearly every race and religion co-exists. We don't need to fear these people. The President was voted in by all races, not just Blacks. The system of change, while it moves slowly, is moving in a wonderful direction. My greatest hope is that people don't allow themselves to be seduced by hate, no matter what their color. Let’s just be vigilant to ensure our children’s future in a multi-cultural diverse society.

NO, I'm NOT interested in repairing the legacy of slavery. I had nothing to do with it and neither did any member of my bloodline. I don't feel any obligation to pay for the offenses of past generations and I don't feel that anyone of today's generation of black people is entitled to a DIME for offenses against their ancestors. This “you owe me” crap is just that; CRAP. Put down the crack pipes, pull up your pants, go to school and move on. Whitey has no inclination to GIVE you anything.

If we're really talking about reparations, TANF payments wouldn't do it–that's a joke. It's almost comical to me that people like Rush would begrudge anybody $500 a month, not to mention trying to scare his listeners by mentioning it. If real justice were done, not only would African-Americans receive far more, but whites would have to actually give up some of their power, privilege and wealth. That, I'm sure, would be really scary to Rush's listeners.

I'm white. My ancestors came to Virginia from England; they were “landed gentry” who received land in the colonies from the British crown. Sometime later some of them moved to Mississippi, where my great-grandfather had a logging and railroad-tie manufacturing business, which he left to his son, who then opened a bank and bought property, land, and stocks/bonds, which were left to my mom. Now she, my dad, and each of her four kids have a nice investment portfolio, land, etc. (nicer before the economy crashed, but still enough that if we are careful we have a nest egg to fall back on). What about the descendants of slaves who were of my great-grandfather's generation (and before)? How much would they have now if they had been paid for their labor, not to mention given land and been able to go into business for themselves? And really, would I have less, since the economy my ancestors made their money in benefited from the unpaid work of slaves? There is no way to calculate how much slavery has cost African-Americans in lives, families, land, and wealth. We need to provide reparations of at least $100,000 per person and we can't stop there. All our institutions bear the scars of slavery, segregation and Jim Crow; for example, the way schools are funded keeps schools in poor communities substandard. We need a transformative change in our country if we ever want to truly repair the legacy of slavery.

The Painful sound that you hear on a daily basis from the likes of Hannity, Limbaugh,Fox news ect.,is the sound of Power being pulled away from those that ,systematicly have had it for hundreds of years. Change is Indeed Here and that Fact is harder to accept for some. I believe that there truly are a lot of White people that ,needlessly, share the same sentiment that Limbaugh expouses. Just look at the huge increase in gun and ammunition sales around the country.
Is Limbaugh “fear mongering'? Probably. That's just how he rolls. But I think that he Beleives what he is saying. He is no more than a supremist in the 09, with supremist views. Let's face it, there is STILL ' supremist' thinking Today that's even practiced by some sad blacks. You know the names.
That 'Wail and Whine' that we hear everyday on Foxy news and conservative talk radio is the sound of CHANGE.

Imus gets fired for a joke (admittedly in bad taste) RL gets a raise. Free Speech is one thing, inciting to riot is another. Personally i believe in reparations. NOt in dollars but in servitude. Rush should be water boarded daily and then sent out to prostitute himself for 20 bucks a throw with the money coming directly to Black Panther Party.
