Secretary of State Hillary Clinton slaps Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) around (Video)
“We want your constructive criticism, we want your feedback,” said Clinton. “But President Obama won the election. He beat me in a primary, in which he put forth a different approach, and he is now our president. And we all want our president, no matter of which party, to succeed, especially in such a perilous time.” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Rep. Steve King calls Black and Hispanic Congressional Caucuses ‘separatist groups.’
Yesterday, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) took to the House floor for an hour-long speech consisting of tired denunciations of Obama shaking hands with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and more hysterical complaints about how new hate crime legislation protects gays. During his tirade, King decided to direct part of his vitriol at the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, calling both organizations "separatist groups." Now, Miranda, tell me..how does one link Hugo Chavez with hate crime legislation and homosexuals, then wind up at the CBC, and CHC?
I'm asking for you to give me a logical map route.
Miranda
Oh.. you need a logical map??...you're just not good with republican directions...see you're in Chicago, let's say you wanna come to Atlanta:
First (oh, make sure you have your passport, that you've had all your shots, some anti-venom, a first aid kit, a thick coat, a tank top, hiking boots, some good walking shoes and that your will is updated)...ok...take a flight from Chicago to Vancouver..then take the bus from Vancouver to Anchorage, now, you have to walk (or hitch) from Anchorage to the outer most island of Alaska (where you can see Russia)...now stowaway on one of the ships that frequently goes out close to Russia..then when you're close enough,JUMP! swim to Russia...once there, see "Yuri" (he'll know who you are)....he'll hook you up with a caravan to China, where you'll have to ride a donkey thru Mongolia...once you get to Kazakstan, you'll hike through the mountains to the Ukraine...then you'll have to walk or hitch your way to Austria...then you bike to France...then take a transatlantic flight from Paris to Toronto....take the train to Buffalo...then rent a car to NYC....then take another flight to Charlotte NC...then connect to Atlanta. Shouldn't take you more than a year or so. That's kinda how Rep. King got from Chavez and hate crimes to the CBC. For republicans, the shortest distance between two points - is a maze.

Before our current President, I would have said,
' would they have done this to a MALE President?'
Only have to look at Washingtonian Magazine to realize, YES.
AFP reports that the ad is for an underwear company that is offering a $7 discount on new undies to anyone who trades in an old pair. The slogan of the campaign is, "The country needs new undies."

Question 1: What was your first concert?
Question 2: What was the worst concert you'd ever been to?
Question 3: Who woudl you pay to see in concert who you haven't seen?
RobM
1)Street festivals first paid Stevie Wonder 2)Best Bob Marley in the Riveria theatre in Chicago"77 I never saw the stage cause of the smoke Worst concerts in the Wachovia Center in Philadlephia the sound was just horrendous 3)The Roots
djchefron
First was Sly and the Family Stone when I was a kid Worst Well when I worked at the 50yardline in Chicago they used to booked rap acts so take your pick I would love to see an all star diva show Pattie La belle,Diana Ross and Cher with and encore of Barbara Streisand
RobM
Did you go to the one where he didn't show up and there was a riot?
Miranda
First: The Gap Band, Dazz Band and Anita Baker - a festival in B'ham, AL
Best: not sure - its either Aretha or Luther (Maze opened for him - YEAH)
Worst: Its really wasn't bad, its that I can't remember much - it was a Parliament concert - outdoors - and everybody including the cops was HIGH - I caught a contact and that's pretty much all I remember
Most want to see: Prince but I want him to sing his nasty songs
NMP
First: The Jacksons
Best: Every Maze concert and Whitney Houston
Worse: A rap concert. Can't even remember the act
Most want to see: Barbara Streisand
EdnaMae
1. Prince was my first one, right when he got started in the nose bleed section of a smoky hall.
2. Diana Ross in LA, she was just a hot mess and not worth a single penny.
3. Mr Barry White if he were alive, or Elton John if he was affordable and only id his old stuff.
lamh32
Hey,
I actually saw Elton John in Las Vegas this past October. I must admit, I was not that keen on going. I mean, I liked some Elton John songs, but I wasn't some rabid fan or nothing. Well I am glad I went, becasue it was great, my friend and I were 2 of the 4 Africans americans there, but still great.
Along the same lines, so far the best concert I've been to was George Michael's last U.S. tour. He sung all my fav songs (except Wake me Up, my friends wanted to hear "Last Christmas" in July?), and he sounded fabulous. No background dancers, nothing so flashy, just hime a 5 person backup singers (all Big & Black and belting it out), his band and him. It was great.
lamh32
I'll start off.
1. I'm embarassed to say that my first official concert was a Ricky Martin concert at the New Orleans Arena, I was 25. (I was pretty poor through H.S. so concerts didn't happen much)
2. Had to be the Dallas Blues Festival. I am not a blues fan, but my friend forced me to go. It wasn't thatbad, but I really don't want to repeat it.
3. Stevie Wonder, Prince...
Myth
Are you going to see Steve Harvey?
spirit_55z
First- The Commodores with Lionell Ritchie and all dem Afros!
Best- PRINCE
Worse - Some Go Go band outta DC
Haven't seen, plan to see- Sting (STANG)

Justice58
List of possible replacements for Justice David Souter
* Judge Sonia Sotomayor, 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Born 1954. Has been on the appeals bench since 1998, named a district court judge by Bush in 1992, so would have some bipartisan support. Moderate-liberal views and Hispanic heritage considered big pluses. She is near the top of many people's list.</b.
* Elena Kagan, Solicitor General Born 1960. Served in Clinton White House in various legal and domestic policy positions from 1995-99. Former clerk for Justice Marshall. Has no judicial experience, and may be considered too young for the Court. Nominated for an appeals court seat in 1999, but Republicans held it up without holding hearings. A former dean of Harvard Law, where she named several conservatives to the faculty, earning her favorable respect.</b.
* Judge Diane Wood, 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Born 1950. She has sat on the bench since 1995. Considered moderate-liberal, well-regarded by many. Former clerk for Justice Blackmun, and served in both President Reagan and President Clinton Justice Departments. Possible consensus pick.
* Gov. Deval Patrick, Massachusetts Born 1956. Elected governor in 2006. Boston native who went to Harvard, and later worked for the NAACP. Former assistant U.S. attorney general for civil rights under President Clinton. Legal sources say he might not want the job or even be considered until his term ends in early 2111.
* Judge Merrick Garland, DC Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Born 1952. Possible compromise choice. Considered a moderate. Served as former associate deputy attorney general and headed a probe of Oklahoma City bombing. His age is considered a political plus. Being a white male could hurt his chances if the president seeks diversity.
* Judge Ann Claire Williams, 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Born 1949. Another possible consensus pick. Nominated, at the age of 35, to the U.S. District Court in 1985 by President Reagan, and then elevated to her current job by President Clinton. She is a labeled by many as a moderate who would be the first African-American woman on the Supreme Court. A former inner-city teacher in Detroit, she became the third African-American woman appeals court judge.

You know things are bad when a Horn-Rimmed Handkerchief Head like Capehart is calling you out:
Michael 'Snoop Dogg' Steele
You know, the more I hear Republican National Committee Chairman Michael "That's How We Roll" Steele pepper his pronouncements with hip-hop parlance, the more I'm reminded of those ill-fated commercials for Chrysler starring the unlikely duo of former Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca and rapper Snoop Dogg. It was part of the car company's strategy to reach out to potential urban customers. And look how well that worked out.
Does anyone else find the symbolism a little too rich? Exchange Snoop for Steele and Iacocca for a Republican Party that doesn't understand what the heck the man driving the RNC is saying -- or doing.
Pence is such an idiot. Im convinced that to be a Republican politician being a moron is a pre-condition Funny thing's that Chavez was elected with 60+ percentage of the vote. Also funny is the fact that mike pence calls himself a christian. I wonder how many people of color attend his congregation on Sundays?
EdnaMae
Pence is just another GOP robot, he only repeats what the GOP talking points of the day are and should get a smack down weekly when he's asking such nonsense.
As for him and the rest of those God fearing GOP Christians, I wonder if they ever deal with any black Christians on a Sunday, I would somehow not think so, since their idea of Christianity is that its good for them and those who look, talk and act as bland as they do.
Angelar
Pence is the same guy who went to Iraq with John McCain and came home claiming you could go to an open market there and be just as safe as if you were in the U.S. Of course, he barely made that statement when the pictures came out showing how much security Pence & McCain had on their "shopping spree"! They were trying to claim how successful the invasion of Iraq was and how free the people were. Yup, same liar.
President Obama made a surprise cameo at the daily press briefing to confirm the retirement of Justice David Souter. ...
As he bumped his press secretary from the podium, Obama joked that when a job needs to be done, “you gotta do it yourself.”
The president said he’d just gotten off the phone with Souter, whom he praised for his “integrity, equanimity and compassion and called a "fair-minded and independent judge”
He said he hopes to have a new justice in place by October at the beginning of the fall session of the Supreme Court. In Souter’s replacement, he said he is looking for “someone who understands justice is not just about some abstract legal theory,” but about how laws affect the daily lives of Americans.
EMPATHY! Shares RESPECT 4 Constitutional VALUES. Sharp independent mind! INTEGRITY!! Dedicated 2 the "rules of law!" Uses law to serve people (fairly).
The President will be looking for someone dedicated to the rule of law!

Who Shredded Our Safety Net? What starts with "f," ends with "k," and means "screw your workers"? That's right—401(k). —By James Ridgeway
May/June 2009 LIKE MOST PEOPLE whose quality of life depends upon the fluctuations of an IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other acronym-soup retirement account, I was born long before such things existed. It's easy to forget, now that more than half of us have been made shareholders, that until well past the middle of the 20th century, most people had nothing to do with the stock market: Wall Street was for the wealthy and the reckless. It was a world most Americans didn't understand and, after 1929, didn't trust. Some lucky people had pensions, but few had the privilege of even thinking about retirement. They were too busy trying to survive the present—which in my childhood meant the Great Depression and then World War II.
I spent the war years in Washington, DC, where my father had a minor position in the Roosevelt administration. After school, my brother and I spent most of our time running around the streets, trying to get the air-raid wardens to give us a scrap of nylon parachute, or maybe even one of their cast-off World War I helmets, before the blackout drill began. One evening, my mother called us into the dining room and solemnly presented each of us with a $25 war bond. That was my first contact with the world of investment. Compared to a piece of parachute, it was a real downer.
Sixty-five years later it's a downer still, as I contemplate my future at a time of deep recession with no pension and a depleted 401(k). And it occurs to me that the very notion of a comfortable, paid retirement may turn out to have been a temporary phenomenon, with a life span almost precisely the same as my own.
The age of the private pension is almost over. My company dumped pensions about 5 years ago. New hires do not get a pension. They get self directed retirement savings plans in which the employee and the company put in money every month but that is the sole liability of the company. I will not get a pension. The company says that they will give me a cash payout when I retire. One of the reasons that the auto companies are in such sad shape is the 30 and out pension system where an employee that started on the line at the age of 18 could retire with a full pension and medical insurance at the age of 48 (30 years). If the employee lived to age 74, the company would have to provide pension money for 26 years!!! This was all well and good when the auto companies had a monopoly on the US market, but now it is the kiss of death. Public pensions have trillions of dollar of unfunded or underfunded liabilities.
President Obama had one rule for reporters visiting his Cabinet meeting Friday. "No questions about the Supreme Court," the president said.
Seated next to Hillary Clinton and Bill Gates, Obama focused his brief remarks on swine flu, saying he is proud of the work being done by the Departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services.
"We've now brought in the cavalry with Secretary Sebelius," he said. The president played down the possibility that the flu could become a devastating pandemic, but said his administration was taking all necessary precautions.
"We don't know for certain that this will end up being more serious" than other seasonal flus, he said, adding that his team was "ensuring that in the worst-case scenario, this can be handled appropriately.”
LEADERSHIP!! :>)
fredman1
It will take at least 6 months to develop and implement a swine flu vaccine. By then the virus may have mutated. The only thing we can really do is hope that the flu is not virulent. Tamiflu and amantadine are of only limited efficacy.
spirit_55z
This is true.

Hillary bout to make me respect her! She still gets the side eye for her campaign tactics but I aint mad at her for making Pence look like a straight up DUNCE...

Oh Shit! I swear when my husband took me to Jamaica to meet his dad, I laid down in the back seat of the car the whole 2 weeks we were there.
The roads to Kingston are narrow as a pencil and some folks were driving like they're on high speed rail.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/personal/04/30/o... Just read this article. I am having my third child and everyone keeps telling me I should hope for a boy. We want a boy but I will be just as pleased if I have charlies angels at my house.... Anyway read this foolishness, and she put it in print. I feel sorry for her child.
NO_ID
I don't see why people get mad at mothers just because they express an honest opinion. I don't have kids but I have a bunch of nieces and I totally understand. You may not feel the same way and you're entitled to that. But why is is that motherhood means to some people that they can no longer have an opinion? I'm sure she'll embrace whatever kid she gets.
rorysmomma
Because unfortunately, as a mother your views shape how you see your children.? I have no problem with her opinion, I just think she showed a lack of foresight when she expressed it.? And she doesn't even have a basis for it..... she has never had a girl so how would she know?
Miranda
When is your bundle of joy due?
The author of that column has issues that she really needs to work out.
rorysmomma
October 15, but I will probably have my little bundle at the end of september (mandatory scheduled c-section)

Congrats on the new baby, Rory!
Whether it's a boy or girl, I pray God's blessing for a healthy baby!

Thank you!!

Why did she write this? I hope her daughter doesn't read it.
As someone who totally wants a daughter one day, I don't understand her.
rorysmomma
Rikyrah,
She is crazy.
isonprize
What? Her husband doesn't read her work? LOLOL They seem to be meant for each other. What the hell kinda secret is THAT to keep from your man?
As you can see, I have mixed feelings about this article. Maybe her mother didn’t want her… maybe she would benefit from talking with families who experience fertility issues… Talk with families who have children on ventilators or in wheelchairs… Maybe this is her life lesson to learn - that you don’t always get ‘what you want’
OR maybe her verbalizing it will help her to recognize how unfair she is being to a baby girl who hasn't even seen this crazy o'l world yet... or help her recognize the beauty of being feminine. [Cue Chaka KHAN: "I thank God, I'm GLAD to be a girl" or "I'm every woman"]
I hope baby girl is born healthy. I hope baby girl is born with a strong spirit to handle whatever negativity comes her way...
May God bless baby girl (and her slightly twisted parents, too!)
I hope her daughter never runs into that article. I wasn't a difficult child at all, and I'm a girl. If anything, I was the one who had to get my younger brother out of scrapes. Hell, I practically raised him even though I'm only two years older.
rorysmomma
It is so hard out here for women. Now don't get me wrong. I know some manipulative little girls.... However, all children are born with a Ph.D. in manipulation, and the fact that she doesn't think her boys are manipulative means that they have straight up manipulated the crap out of her.
"For the love of Massa" Like for the love of Ray J. I think I like the sound of that.
Miranda
LMAO!! Oh that would be a hell competitive show! I can see the contestants all lined up: Michael Steele, Ron Christie, Michael Massey, Amy Holmes, Star Parker.........that would truly be worth watching.
danadevin74
damn Hillary i guess she told him did you see his face? LOL
Plantsmantx
Yeah...when you make them do that lip-tightening thing, you know you done stung 'em:).

I know. It was bad. Hillary may as well began the conversation with --- you stupid Mother Fu**er . .. . tee hee
