The GOP is in a pickle because the Southern Strategy doesn't work any more. It's on thing to use thinly veiled race baiting against white Democrats, but it's quite another to use it gainst a black President. When the target is black most people, even people who are in denial about racism can see it for what it is. So all they are left with is bitching and moaning about handshakes, teleprompters and teabags. Without the Southern Strategy, they have no strategy.

The reason the President's favorability and job approval polls are holding up so high is because he IS SEEN to be working HARD every single day tackling the nation's problems. Some people may not particularly like the policies, but the President cannot be faulted for NOT trying. If you see other details of the PEW polling that came out today, the number ONE attribute repeated of the President is that he is INTELLIGENT.

For us black folk that admission by the majority of Americans is HUGE. Why? because it reverses centuries of racial fallacies about us (at least ONE of us, the President) being intellectually deficient. That's some truth telling right there.

The Other reason the GOP attacks aren't working is that they burned through ALL their ammo way too early, during the Fall campaign when they called then candidate Obama every vile thing in the racist book. It didn't make sense then to voters and sure doesn't make sense now, even with the teabaggin' sessions and all.

For anything to stick to this president, there has to be a modicum of plausibility. He simply does not come across as evil as his GOP enemies claim. Simple. It is they who look like lunatics right now with Cheney sliding out of his lair to breathe fire and brimstone. Problem is the only Cheney we know is the one who for 8 years was constantly in an "undisclosed location," plus he lied about WMD in Iraq. No wonder Hillary Clinton stated emphatically at yesterday's House hearing, that "you won't be surprised that I don't think of him (Dick Cheney) as a particularly reliable source." 'Nuff said.

Congratulations President Obama for steering this unruly ship called America with such finesse in spite of the daily attacks lobbed at you. Kudos !! We still have a long way to go.

What the conservative movement is suffering through is market burn out. The sort of isht flinging common to the conservative mouthpieces the last 20 years has become no only passe' ...

But inconsequential.

They keep trying to ramp it up with ever more dire, wing-dizzy conspiracies and pronouncements - but the market is inured to it.

Conservatives whined, screamed, shouted, persecuted, and "theoried" until they got their way - which was the worst thing that could have happened...

And got control of the Government.

They failed - proving that whining is a lousy platform from which to operate a government.

The article implies that Obama and Clinton are equals. Obama and Clinton are NOT equals. Barack Obama is a once-in-a-lifetime leader.

To imply that President Obama is succeeding moreso than Clinton b/c of the "liberal blogosphere" is facetious. Please give Brotha-President some credit.
