babyming, good points. The bottom line is the Bush Adminsitration were hypocrits.They hid behind the label of morals and religion as a basis for pro-life without any regard for the LIVING.

The stem cell research ban was self-serving, ignorant, and a blatant disregard for science which is as cruical to life as OXYGEN.

About embryonic stem cell research: if someone is against this medical research, I can respect their position ONLY IF they are also against in vitro fertilization clinics. These clinics put hundreds of human embryos in deep freeze every day. Meanwhile, medical research worldwide has maybe 80 stem cell lines. Each of those frozen human embyos could make a new stem cell line. DOes anyone really think a high number of those frozen embryos will ever be “thawed back to life”? Let's get real. I can respect someone who says: “I'm against embryonic stem-cell research, and I'm a thousand times more against in-vitro fertilization clinics.” But who is saying that? I actually (this is true) knew a rich Republican Mormon couple, who were very pro-life, who I assume today would be against stem-cell research. But when they wanted a child, they went to an in-vitro fertilization clinic! These were intelligent people, who probably knew that quite a few HUMAN embryos were discarded, just so they could try to conceive a child (which they never did). But when it came to their life, suddenly this wasn't a problem. These same people successfully set medical research back for 7 and a half years, until Obama reversed the ban yesterday.
Anyway, my point is, IT MAKES NO SENSE to argue about embryonic stem-cell research, without also talking about in-vitro fertilization clinics, simply because these clinics kill thousands and thousands of embryos!

Annnnnnd, I would further suggest another INSTRUMENT with a "Likert Scale" format RATHER THAN an alphabet scale. It is 2 subjective annnnnd allows 4 too many variations in the GRADE.
