I bought Rolling Stone for this article. It's unreal, maddening and would make you pissed off all over again. I don't like Geithner. Don't trust him. Don't think he should be in the job. Him or Summers. And, I think they are the two biggest mistakes this President has made, and will be the ones that come back and bite him seriously in the ass.

Had true capitalism ever been considered amid this mess, failing companies regardless of sector would have been allowed to go bankrupt so that more effective managers could have taken over their assets.

The problem here, Conserv1, is that very, very few capitalists either believe in or ever try to practice what you call "true capitalism." Most of them are looking for a handout or special assistance from the government. They have been doing this throughout the colonial and post-colonial period of this nation. Consider, for example, southern plantation owners demanding again and again special protections from the government to continue their racket of enslaving people and extracting the value of their labor and their descendants without enumeration.

Capitalists are more afraid of capitalism than any communist ever was or will be.

Instead, and in a repeat of Japan’s mistakes over the last twenty years, taxpayer money will prop up the walking dead, including GM, Chrysler, AIG, and Citigroup, which means we’ll weaken the various capitalistic companies that did not take government funds in order to “save” those that did.

American International Group is ridding itself of its infamous moniker.

While it remains to be seen whether the move will distance the insurer from its many scandals, AIG will now be called AIU Holdings Ltd.

Over the weekend, workmen removed the sign from the company's Water Street offices; it has yet to install the sign carrying its new name.

AIG's Pine Street headquarters will continue to feature a brass plaque reading "American International Building."
