Glad to here the census will be directed by the White House.
As to rikyah's point, In theory the Republican will not be viable because how New hampshire has changed voting wise. I'm not so sure interests like the devil they know. it is certianly why I like Burris will be viable in ILL

I'm still at a loss on this pick. At one point he wanted to eliminate the Commerce Dept and denied emergency funding for the census. Sounds like POTUS put the fox in the hen house. I don't see problem solved by handing the census over to the WH. If the Commerce Dept is charged with handling the census and it is now going to be handled by the White House, isn't that a tacit acknowledgement that Gregg hasn't done a 180 re the Commerce Dept.? If he had a sincere change of views re the Commerce Dept. could he not have gone “hat in hand” to assuage the fears of the CBC and the Hispanic Caucus? I understand (to a point) this need for bipartsianship, but at a minimum I would hope that the Repub nominee would not be hostile to the agency he's charged with overseeing. I can't imagine what morale will be like at Commerce. And I'm not even going to get into to his “I'll accept, ONLY if a Rep takes my place.” Ugh!

Obama gets tout his bi-part cred by adding another Repub, but by bypassing on Census, he can satisfy the CBC and still get credit.
