To not have compassion or not show mercy to someone's family during a passing is without conscience! God help these people who falsely claim family values to further their agenda. May God deal with them as he wishes!

This bill suffers from several serious problems.

First, it assumes people are stupid.

Tax rebates, for example, presume that if people get money to increase their consumption, businesses will expand their production and hire more workers. Not true. Even if producers notice an upward blip in sales after the rebate checks go out, they will know it's only temporary. Companies won't hire more employees or build new factories in response to a temporary increase in sales. Those who do will go out of business.

The tax credit in this bill will have no effect in stimulating the economy.

Second, the thinking behind stimulus legislation assumes that the government is better at spending $800 billion than the private sector.

When President Obama says, “We'll invest in what works,” he means, “unlike you.”

Politics rather than sound economics guide government spending. Politicians rely on lobbyists from unions, corporations, pressure groups, and state and local governments when they decide how to spend other people's money.

By contrast, entrepreneurs' decisions to spend their own cash are guided by monetary profit and loss. That's likely to work better and certain to produce more innovation.

But the biggest problem is that the government can't inject money into the economy without first taking money out of the economy. Where does the government get that money?

It can either borrow it or collect it from taxes. There is no aggregate increase in demand. Government borrowing and spending doesn't boost national income or standard of living; it merely redistributes it. The pie is sliced differently, but it's not any bigger.

This is the largest spending bill EVER passed, and it comes with no guarantees it will work and worse, no guarantee that it will not, in the long-run harm our economy further.

The economy, we are told will be slow to recover. This year will be hard. Massive deficits caused by Bush's huge spending, followed by this bill and the bailouts of the financial and auto industries, will more than likely lead to inflation and tax increases.

Few here, I doubt remember the Carter economy: Multi-year double-digit inflation, gas lines, double-digit unemployment, double-digit interest rates, declining incomes, and rising poverty.

In two years we came out of that recession by doing 4 things:

(1) across the board reductions in tax rates to provide incentives for saving, investment, starting and expanding businesses, job creation, entrepreneurship, and work,

(2) removing the costs of unnecessary regulation, which today would especially mean removing the onerous restrictions on energy production, allowing drilling offshore and onshore for oil and natural gas, and revival of the nuclear power industry,

(3) controlling government spending, which contrary to longstanding liberal propaganda Reagan did do

(4) sound anti-inflation monetary policy.

What we suffer with today is not the worst economy since the Great Depression, but The Worst Economy Since Jimmy Carter, which was the last time Obama's ultraliberals were dominant, politically and intellectually.

This stimulus package is now the symbol of Democratic rule.

Excellent! Because this is not about beltwyay chatter and the obstructionist behavior of the GOP; THISIS ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

And the AMERICAN PEOPLE have spoken.

You guys had your chance and you blew it big time. It our time now, so just sit back and relax and let the grown ups handle this.

Anyway, why didn't the Republicans use the opinions of rightist policy commentators to come up with a plan of their own, hold it up in front of the Democrats, and say “Here's our plan. Let's sit down and see if we can work out a compromise.”? That's how “bipartisanism” ideally works, isn't it?

Already there are signs that some Republican GOVERNORS have a positive attitude towards Obama's economic stimulus. (Obviously, Republicans in Congress are more hostile to Obama than the Governors, for now.) After watching George W. Bush add $5 trillion to the national debt, some Republicans have suddenly rediscovered their disdain for government spending, at EXACTLY the time when the economy desperately needs some government intervention. After years of cheap partisan politics, Obama is rising to the occassion and giving America his humanity, his dedication to improving the economic mess, and his great intelligence. I really admire him tremendously.
