I like Desiree she seems to be pretty down to earth and honest about the pressure of the position as WH Social Secretary. I sort of agree with whiterosebuddy's comment about Desiree's educational background making her seem overqualified for a position like this. But apparently she's a good friend of the Obamas and she's someone that they trust to do the job well, so more power to her lol.
  • rikyrah
I also am tickled pink that the White House Social Secretary has an MBA from Harvard, thus shutting anyone up about having a BLACK White House Social Secretary.
  • whiterosebuddy
I have mixed feelings about that. Desiree's professional and educational credentials far exceed those needed for the post. It comes across as a black social secretary needing far more to do the job than a barely educated non-black female can do if raised with the right 'social knowledge'.

It does give Rogers the leverage not to be trifled with. Yet, it is overkill in many ways.

Desiree is in PR. Harvard or not, this seems right up her alley. You can't get more exposure than BO's social secretary. She has at least one set of keys to the kingdom, and that will make her very popular long after Obama's TWO terms as President.
  • whiterosebuddy
Yes, I have no question that this is a task she is more than capable of. My point however was that her credentials are exceptional and beyond the scope of being a social secretary. She does not need any keys to the kingdom. Touting her professional and educational resume does not add to the task, it many ways it simply says, if you are black you need all that just to be a social secretary.

In short, they should be talking about her PR talents to do the job not her being Harvard educated and a VP. Touting that makes it sound like she went from owning a cleaning service to being a maid for the Rockefellers. Now, it's all about who she is a maid for not that she is an overqualified maid. THAT's my point..

I know, rikyrah. Desiree, like PBO is going to breaking the old molds. She'll not be put in a box.

Desiree's going to bring it like nobody's business.

I love the still video of Desiree & Lola's faces. It looks like the two of them are holding hands. I'm so happy for Desiree and Lola, two fine sistas in the White House.

Lola: Girl, you know it's been a long time comming... giggles<<>

Desiree: But I know change is Here, sista... and it's on! giggles<<<>>>
