As I mentioned B4, a “Buffalo Soldier” – a retired pastor, attended my church. When he passed, he was 97 years living. God Bless him.

Anyway, some of the Buffalo Soldiers' relatives have formed a heritage association here. I volunteered to B a member in honor of him.

Tonight's BANQUET was a celebratory fundraiser for the mega-project of constructing a “BUFFALO SOLDIERS MEMORIAL” in a National Cemetery – - Honoring the 9th & 10th U.S. Horse Calvary! :>)

Pardon me? U want ta know “wha' ha' happened” this evening?? I'm glad U asked! :>)

1. A symbolic “empty table” was set in Honor of POW's & MIA's. A “toast” was made to them. It was VERY moving!

2. The drawing of the Memorial was unveiled. It includes a Memorial Park with a statue of a “BUFFALO SOLDIER” on a horse! Just so powerful!

3. My responsibility was to sell raffle tickets. Sooo, initially, I felt like one of those “old school cigarette girls!” – plyin' her wares. But, after a few minutes, I reflected on my mission – - “fund-raising!” :>) :>)

4. Sooo, I took a break to eat & while I was doin' so, this, rather “fi-i-i-i-ne” gentleman kept tryin' ta get my attention. But, I maintained my cool & kept eatin' my prime rib.

Soon, I saw him get up and s-l-o-w-l-y move toward my table. Immediately, I dropped my fork, dug in my purse for my lipstick annnnnd, my hair pick!! By the time he arrived- – this sista-girl had gotten herself “2 – ge- tha'!”

Then he said, “excuse me Miss, my WIFE sent me ova here ta get some raffle tickets!”

My brain said- – – - WTHeck! :>) :>) My mouth said, “Of course. You can get 7 tickets for $5.” After the SALE – - – I went back ta eatin'! Sista-girl was “bitta!” :>) :>)

5. Then the event-photographer looked over at me, aimed his camera and said – - “SMILE.”

I said – - “Hold up “YOUNG BROTHA!” Slow ya roll!” Then, I busted back into my purse for that lipstick , hair pick annnnnd DENTAL FLOSS PICK! Uh! uh!
Not gonna B caught with steak all up in my “grill” – - – – er -ummm – teeth! :>)
5 minutes L8R – - sista-girl had gotten presentable – - once mo' 'gin!! :>)

6. Then the band started 2 play. The crowd was slow! Soooo, yet again I felt the NEED ta LEAD [it's the teacha in me], & I grabbed some willing participants & we did WHAT? – “Electric Slide”!!! :>) :>)

Soma the “Seasoned Citizens” were really “gettin' they groove on!” Ha-aaay! :>) :>)

All – in – all, it was a GREAT evening! Raised a LOT of FUN & FUNDS!! :>) :>)

I'll report on the progress of our MEMORIAL to the – BUFFALO SOLDIERS!
