What this really shows is that Reid and Democratic leaders were trying use extortion in order to subvert Governor Blagojevich's appointment authority.In other words, the “clean” folks were trying to blackmail the alleged dirty guy into not appointing African-American candidates , and if he did, they would not seat that person. Blago called their bluff and now we have a mess to start off the Obama era.

I hope this doesn't turn into an event that sidetracks or derails the agenda Obama and the Democrats were elected to enact. Self-inflicted wounds are a sign of incompetence.

Anyone Blago appoints should not be seated. period. Let there be an election if the State can afford it and let the chips fall where they may. Put it in the people's hands.

if State cannot afford it then impeach the bastard and let the Lt gov appoint someone to be a place holder. If Burris had refused Blago and then come out at a presser to announce his refusal with an explanation of why he refused re: tainted appointment only then would he have the cred. This would have gone a long way to healing the situation and helping him to put his face out there in a positive light instead of in a cloud.

Nothing good can come from Blago or anything he touches and Burris is tainted and under a cloud. Dems in Illinois tried to be too cute by far and now have created a monster. Now they should let to and let God. Put the thing in the hands of the people or impeach and be done with it and move on already.
