LoL I was thinking the same thing! and when I finished with "One of these things just doesn't belong. . ." my eyes went to Dubya.
Why is Lynn Sweet on my TV making sense? Just when you think things can't get any stranger, Miss Entitled gets religion.

My law reference - they know that this is what has been missing for the past 8 years, and so they're faced with continuing down the same path, or doing the right thing.- following the law.
rikyrah
Straight up, Craig, the one thing White folks can't stand it is when Black folks point and tell them..
" The law is the law."
Period.
msmartin
How dare you tell me about the law.
isonprize
ooooh, yes. Growing up my daddy used to say that the first mistake white folk made was writing down that constitution...
"where dey messed up was, they wrote that shit down. 2nd mistake was thinking we wouldn't learn to read it...'
HA! in order to form a more perfect union...
indeed.
msmartin
Isn't it amazing how frihtened some still become when they figure out that we can learn if we choose to.
Your Daddy was so right - that ought to encourage everyone to learn. Anyone who wants to know anything has nothing to do but read to discover it.
Black folks have always been the moral center of America, moreso in the arts and letters than in politics.
Now we've got a Black artist as a President.
His wisdom is going to make fans of most of his critics.
We done good.

Craig, YES HE IS AND YES WE DID.

CAPTIONS:
PRESIDENT G.H.W. BUSH: Ha ha ha, this little brown one will f*ck up and then my boy Jeb can ride in and clean up his mess
PRESIDENT OBAMA: These mofos think they slick. Well, I got something for them. Always bet on black, suckas.
PRESIDENT G.W. BUSH: LOL LOL he gets to deal with ALL this sh*t I'm leaving for him. Like I'm not gonna tell him the toilet in the bedroom always clogs up after ya take a #2. Oh and I sprinkled itching powder all over the Oval Office. Watch that bitch itch during the State of the Union!
PRESIDENT CLINTON: Damn Michelle got a big ole butt and it's mighty fine. Maybe she and I can get together to "talk" about stuff like kids, and high powered spouses and stuff. Aw who am I kidding I just want a close up of that butt.
PRESIDENT CARTER: Why am I always getting shifted off to the side?
pjamma
Now you have me imagining Bill singing "Big Ole Butt" by LL to Hillary.
"Michelle's got a big ole' butt I know I told you I'd be true But Michelle's got a big ole' butt So I'm leavin you See ya"
What pisses me off is Dumbya insisting on being in front.
I saw this during morning break at work.
And Bush 1 and Bush 2 seem to be crowding Obama, like brother man is crushed between these two. What the freak is this? Does anyone else think this is messed up?
pjamma
He is the current President so I'll forgive him being in the center standing a little in front of everyone.
Universal healthcare = Nanny State on Steroids - Imagine a country where the government regularly checks the waistlines of citizens over age 40. Anyone deemed too fat would be required to undergo diet counseling. Those who fail to lose sufficient weight could face further "reeducation" and their communities subject to stiff fines.
yeah, it's better when your employer does it. and you lose your insurance or your job. Karmi, every time i read you, i keep getting this error on my screen. id10T. why is that?
Anyway, the national debt now stands at over $10.6 trillion, with the Dems talking about adding another $1 trillion immediately - that doesn't include the debt for 2010 - to that debt.
Employers are going bankrupt or closing the 'doors' (before Obama and the Dems try to steal even more from them), and unemployment is about to start soaring into double-digits.
BTW, the Government doesn't make money - they just forcefully take it, and their source is about to dry up...

ewww.....the "anti government" talk........you're posting from a cabin in the dense woods of North Dakota aren't you? One surrounded by homemade booby traps and "no trespassing" signs. When you go into town for supplies...the townsfolk whisper but NEVER make eye contact...right??

Rush is on HARDBALL: MSNBC 2:00pm

Watching Rush on HB yesterday was hard to watch. All I hear is empty rhetoric. Very disingenuous.

Damn Rush is kinda mad at folks.
Sepia
I found him disgraceful. He spit on the graves of those who sacrifice their lives and well being by comparing Burris being blocked to racist white firing water hoses and dogs on black people during the Civil Rights Movement.
If the CBC was SO CONCERNED about anybody, they need to 'fess up as to why they slung Cynthia McKinney under the bus at Nancy Pelosi's direction,
Cue the sound of chirping crickets on that one...
CBC keep showing how damned sexist they are as well. If this were Carole Moseley Braun, I'm willing to bet you wouldn't hear Rush opening his yap for anybody.
Methinks Jesse, Jr. had enemies in the CBC - they wanted a House Negro and he was totally IN THE FIELDS.
freespiritbty
Speak on it!!! The CBC did both Braun and McKinney wrong. I'm about to channel Denny Green. Thank you for reminding us about the CBC because the CBC are quite "selective" in who they support.
rikyrah
They had problems with him from themoment he was elected - Jesse Jackson, Jr. They were just more vocal about it because it was Obama....but, they're mad at Jesse Jr. for not ' waiting his turn'. I've told y'all....Jesse Jr. has had strong independent streaks from the moment he was elected. And, it upset folks.
Well, how long is he supposed to wait, Rikyrah? I've had it with the CBC members who believe anyone under 50 is supposed to wait their turn.
If Obama had played by those rules, John McCain or Hillpatine would be the POTUS on January 20th. Jr.'s 43 years old - not exactly a boy, but young enough and full of enough piss and vinegar to get things done. He would have made an excellent Senator and would have had Obama's back as well.
Everyone in the CBC, save for Donna Edwards, Kendrick Meek, Artur Davis and Keith Ellison are over 55 (I believe avg. age is 60ish), and the decrepits like 80-year old Charles Rangel are asking them to wait their turn.
In this case, that would be when they lay Charlie, John Conyers or John Lewis to REST - they're all over 70 and aren't getting any younger, but more feeble in their thinking; the exception being John Lewis had enough sense to see which way the wind was blowing and got off Hillary's bandwagon before the train left the station.
freespiritbty
Excellent post. The good ol' boy network isn't just for entrenched white men. The Civil Rights baby boomers in the CBC are clutching to power with all their strength, much to the detriment of their constituents.
rikyrah
CPL,
You know I'm feeling you. But, I know what I know. There were a lot of hard feelings HERE when Jesse Jr. ran for that seat. The only reason you didn't hear the grumbling louder is because of Jesse Sr.

CPL,I hope this plays out. Putting these old CBC membes to rest. Gag me with a freaking spoon with that pic in USA Today of Pelosi strokng Rangel's face....ewww!
It's time for the next generation to LEAD.

So, what happens to JJJ now? Does he still have a career, or has this Blago drama screwed him over?
He serves in Congress for as long as his district will send him there - and he can be fearless in his representation by going after issues like Ron Dellums did when he was in Congress (divestment of money from countries violating human rights, and shyt like that). He might have to wait a few years before considering a Senate run, and he'll have to RUN.
Justice58
I so hope not. I like JJJ
rikyrah
He still has a career. He's not in ANY danger of losing his Congressional seat. We have to see how it shakes out, but I think him being a snitch will HELP him.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Senate Democrats have no choice but to change their tone about Roland Burris becoming a U.S. senator because Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich "called our bluff" in appointing someone over their objections, a senior Democratic congressional source conceded Wednesday. "We tried to send a political signal to Blagojevich that we would not seat someone he appointed. He called our bluff, in a reckless way," the Democratic source said.
A second senior Democratic source said that the issue had clearly become a "heightened situation" that needed to be dealt with and that Burris' face-to-face meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Majority Whip Dick Durbin really helped to establish a "person-to-person dialogue."
Burris described his meeting with Senate leadership as warm and called Reid a "very warm and charming gentleman."
Burris also said former President Jimmy Carter called him before the meeting and told him, "Roland, you will make a great senator."
TRW
Jimmy Carter---he is a smart man, but gag me with a spoon. After this whole debacle, I have officially sworn off the Democratic party. Nobody has a spine. Everybody has been talking out there necks so much these past couple of weeks, I don't believe anyone anymore. Burris is a joke. Rush is a disgrace. Reid is a spineless wimp. And the CBC has become what Coates correctly coined the "Civil Rights Industrial Comlex." I am even disappointed in Obama because of this whole episode, though I realize that his hands are tied.
What a disgrace. I am ashamed of the Democratic party right now.
whiterosebuddy
What is the Civil Rights Industrial Complex...not familiar with that term.
They are past their usefulness and shelf life, so they've been tagged with the name "Civil Rights Industrial Complex" because if if weren't for Civil Rights, most of the CBC wouldn't be elected Dog Catchers.
LOL. I wont reply with what I was thinking though. LOL.

CNN was reporting late Tuesday that Richard Parsons, former chairman of CNN parent Time Warner, may be in line for Commerce Secretary in the Obama administration. That comes after former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson withdrew his nomination for that post Sunday (Jan. 4) due to an ongoing investigation into campaign contributors and state contracts.
The Parsons nomination, while a surprise, would not exactly be out of the blue. He is one of a dozen members of the Obama Economic Advisory Board, which is helping the President-elect come up with ideas to get the economy moving.
That news came not long after CNN confirmed that its chief medical correspondent, Sanjay Gupta, was being considered for Surgeon General.
The Picture of Sasha Obama being escorted to school by the secret service reminded me of the Norman Rockwell painting, The Problem We All Live With, and the many AFrican American students who had to be escorted to school by government agents.
GREAT FIND!! :>) That pic hung in our church - foreva!! :>)

yes, you are correct about the Rockwell painting.

Politics makes strange bedfellows......indeed
WASHINGTON — A conservative watchdog group has sued the Senate for refusing to immediately seat Roland Burris as the new senator from Illinois.
The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in federal court in Washington on behalf of an Illinois resident. The suit was filed by Judicial Watch, whose lawyers say the Senate's refusal to seat Burris is unconstitutional.
Burris was appointed by Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (blah-GOY'-uh-vich) to the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.
Senate Democrats and Obama have said anyone appointed by Blagojevich, who is embroiled in a corruption investigation, would be tainted and should not be allowed to represent Illinois.
The Senate on Tuesday refused to swear Burris in with the rest of the new senators. But Burris said Wednesday he should be able to join the Senate soon.
rikyrah
Remember I told you about that panel of folks on the local Black talk radio station. They said it back then - this was a question of States' Rights. They thought it was hilarious when the person who vocalized it, but they all agreed.
Miranda
LOL! See Reid's problem is that he didn't subscribe to the George Constanza theory of political bluffing: Its not a lie, if you believe it.
If you are steadfast enough, you can make people believe anything...Reid wavered...yeah, the law was on Blago's side...so what? If you really a bad azz, the law is just a formality in your way. Reid's a punk. Cheney may be evil, but he's a bad azz. Gingrich, Frist and Delay may be evil..but they're bad azzes. We just need some bad azzes that wanna do some good. That's why I like the President-elect, his VP and Chief of Staff....bad azzes who wanna do some good.
pjamma
Carter looks like he was photoshopped into the picture. Bill looks like he can't get close enough to Bush, knowing Bush and Obama would be the centerpiece of the coverage and no one cuts Bill out of a photo op. Glad to see Obama taking his place in history.

rikyrah
I felt bad looking at Carter all left out, but in a way, that's how it was for him. LMAO at your comments about Bubba.
I don't know, Ms. Kitty - most folks may have decided it's too expensive to get their freak on now days, and instead of wine, men/women and song, it's back to beer, the old man/woman and TV.
I posted an article about how it was "Cheaper to Keep Him/Her" even if you aren't getting your freak on. Freaking is costly these days - shyt, men won't even date a woman unless she pays half the expenses because if a man foots the entire freight, he's expecting to get his freak ON afterwards, even if it's the FIRST DATE.
Chivalry is DEAD and some of us women KILLED IT.
