Over at Oprah's website, she has re-posted an interview that she had with Barack and Michelle Obama in her magazine's November 2004 issue. I actually never read it before....but I have to say Obama is as insightful and thoughtful as usual. Great insight on his thoughts of being African-American and what he hopes for our communities.

I am just so proud that this man will be my President officially next week.

Don't investors get quarterly or at least annual reports? Isn't there quite a bit of compliance reports the SEC requires on damn near a monthly basis? It seems like a whole lot of people would have had to be in on this...some fake reports had to go out at some point, somebody had to create them, there had to be a whole set of fake databases....there is just too much reporting for it to be as simple as one man's Ponzi scheme to me.

This is much ado about nothing. It's called lights, makeup, and whatever they do to faces on covers of magazines.

There isn't much difference, really.

Pick your battles carefully.

To the naked eye, and I saw them both in Denver, Michelle much more closeup, there tones are quite similar.

Michelle ain't that dark. Barack ain't that light. I know plenty of Black folk lighter, and none of them have white parents.

Their both caramel to cocoa, depending on the light.

I live within walking distance of the Obama's Chicago home. My church is 4 blocks away from their home, my childs school is 3 blocks away from their home. I've seen, and spoke to, the both of them more times than I can count. In real life you can clearly see the color difference between them. With Michelle's own makeup application you can clearly see the color difference between them. As a photography major (once upon a time) I fully understand make-up and lighting. The two examples you posted were fine, and more true to her color.There is a huge diffence between those and the one I posted. On the one I posted she isnt lighter because of make-up or lighting. She's lighter because of Photoshop. No battle should be started over the pic, but it should be noted because we dont want it to become a trend. She got the same treatment on this cover that Beyonce got in that hair product magazine ad.

Well, I have met Barack twice and he is light and this was in Iowa so maybe he got a suntan when you saw him. He comes across darker on television and again in print, due to makeup. Michelle is darker than he, but comes across darker, again with makeup.

I agree this is nothing to be upset about. Not worth fighting over.

I've seen Barack twice. In South Dakota last May and June in St. Paul Minnesota. Close up too. I saw Michelle last in June and October.

For me, Michelle looks darker in person than her photo, but I will concede that lighting for photos can affect skin tone.

That photo cover makes her look white out to me; It's a matter of perception. Agree it's not worth fighting over. I'm a sensitive when it comes to skin lightening.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Eyewitness News has learned a plane has crashed into the Hudson River.
The plane is a US Airways flight 1549 from LaGuardia to Charlotte. There were 146 passengers on board the flight, along with 5 crew members. There is no report on their conditions.
The plane went down near 57th street. The plane took off from LaGuardia at 3:11 p.m.
Ferries are rescuing passengers, some who are seen standing on the wings of the plane.

La Guardia has a notoriously short runway. It's why I never fly out of there if possible. I'm glad everyone is ok.

Im the opposite! I love flying out Laguardia....Funny thing is that I grew up across the river in the Bronx, which means I always get to see my neighborhood from the sky.

Yeah you gotta figure soon as the pilot gave the mayday message to the tower, they shut down all non-emergency communication...cause one eyewitness said he could not get through to 911 ...

those ferries were alerted by the airlines to BE THERE.

The pilots were exceptional in terms of the plane fuselage not breaking apart on landing because the pilot, lifted the nose prior to landing so it would land belly first...unbeleivable pilot skills...they need to receive numerous honors.

It was stunning to just SEE the plane - in tact, in the water.

When they broke into the news, I asked myself, ' what am I looking at? ' I thought I saw a plane in the water, but poo-pooed it. Turned back a minute or so later and saw - IT WAS A PLANE IN THE WATER.

My aunt's at the Associate Press blg and saw it happen. Skid and splash, not really a crash. We're in Philly and on our way back to DC on Acela and it was late from Penn Sta. due to this.

Yes, and the pilot said double bird strike...which means BOTH engines!!
You can fly without one engine....and they knew double bird meant...emergency landing, immediately.

That pilot had to have the presence of mind to head to the Hudson River...otherwise everyone would have died crashing in the city.

It takes out the engine...bird gets sucked in..engine blades rip it to shreds and then shuts itself down.

It's the one that talks about what people like MLK, Malcolm X, and Frederick Douglas would do if they were alive to see Obama take his oath of office.

The really funny thing about cowboys and the west is many were AfricanAmerican or Mexican especially pre civil war. As to whom protected those folks it was AA cavlary and infantry units. The white cavalry got wiped out.
