Gov. Rod Blagojevich's defense attorneys have asked a federal judge to throw U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and all of his assistants off the fraud and bribery case against him.

Chief defense counsel Edward Genson said in a motion Thursday that the news conference Fitzgerald held in announcing the charges was so filled with prejudicial publicity that the prosecutor should bow out.

The full text of the motion wasn't immediately available because it had been filed under seal. But it was described by U.S. District Court Chief Judge James Holderman, who ordered it unsealed, and Blagojevich attorney Sheldon Sorosky.

Fitzgerald spokesman Randall Samborn had no immediately comment.

Like I told spirit...I remember it like it was yesterday...and this was my own comment on the blog about ANOTHER incident that happened to me years before that one....whew! Y'all bought back some moments for me tonight!

LOL….sometimes you have to embrace these “teachable” moments..it benefits all. A few years ago when I lived in Charlotte, I’ll never forget it. I was walking into a store and this “Miss Ann” type was behind me. Of course I held the door, and I didn’t see her until I was in, so I’m holding this door from the inside. She sees me and as she walks in, she stops to turn around and talk to someone she recognized that had just left out of another door. I mean, literally standing in the door with her hands clasped, talking away and I’m holding the door open. Did not even acknowledge my existence…I instantly became her “help”.

I had an out of body experience at that moment..in fact it was June of 2003, outside of Belk’s at Southpark Mall..I can’t forget it. I literally saw my spirit remove itself from my body and tell me to “let go”….and I obliged. The door slammed this lady and her friend gasped and I never turned around..I just walked on in and didn’t look back. I know it hurt her, but it had to be done. I was at peace with it.

I was in the a store in Chicago once (guess I wasn't suposed to be there) and a woman (white) reached across me to the rack I was standing directly in front of a tried, and I mean tried to grab something that I was looking at. Well, needless to say she drew er arm back without the item and left the store immediately.

I've held doors open for all types of people. That behavior isn't limited to white women.

Sometimes we do things for people with no expectation of anything in return. If they fail to express appreciation, that says more about them than it says about you.

I dont think Webb suggested that...."enhancing brand reputation" (imo) simply means being the model for the ones doing the perceiving not the ones being perceived. Webb's comments were not directed to black men needing to see Obama behave properly - it was directed to those of us who think we NEVER see black men behaving properly when many already DO.

I think what was said is very clear. There's too much emphasis placed on the symbolism and nothing ever changes. In fact it's gotten worse in many ways. Whether people see it or not there's been too much complacency. Those that may know better haven't exactly added to the overall brand enhancement you speak of and have focused on themselves at the expense of everything else if that's the case.

But all PEO would be symbolizing is what exists and hasnt been given any positive press. There are plenty of hardworking good black men, and its not their fault public perception is that they are vitually non-existent...all Webb is saying (and he'll have to correct me if I'm wrong) is that PEO in and of himself can help to correct the very wrong perception that all black men are thugged out dogs. He'll help to "enhance the brand" so to speak, just by being who he is and on the national news every night.

This is where we disagree. A lot of "good" men as you say (with no criteria mind you) are NOT doing anything while neighborhoods become war zones and other people abandon their responsibilities. There was a time when people would step in at least. But this is really a moot point because the proof is there for all to see.

OK...we agree to disagree...because I know and see black men working and volunteering and mentoring young kids and teens every single day. I know plenty of them here in Atlanta, in Charlotte, in L.A, Jacksonville and so on.....I know lots of black men who are handling their business in all facets of their lives. There is a perception that they dont exist and hopefully that will change just by virtue of the "symbol".

Yes there are but they are not using political clout to get things moving on a national scale and it isn't necessarily permanent what they're doing. A few people doesn't make up for the majority who are tearing things down even if one of them is the President. But let's reassess where things stand in a few years and revisit this conversation to find out how many more individuals are being productive and if the overall situation has improved.

I do believe and have alreay witnessed first hand how the Obama's presence on he national scene is making a impact on young black boys ad girls. One day a week I go tutor Black female 8th graders. These young girls have done a 180 since they have been following the election. I've been tutoring them for 2 years. These girls attend a school labled schol of last resort. No other public schools will take these kids.

Th girls and boys are wanting to learn, they are showing up for class and they are engaged. hey say it makes thenm hope for better when they see a black man, woman,and 2 black girls succeed on such a level. HOPE is what is keeping these kids going.

So the inspriration of the Obamas is making a difference.

Awesome story! Yes! These kids need to see a REAL LIVE positive image that the media cannot twist no matter how they try. Regardless of PEO's administration, his presence, just his very presence sparks a pride that cannot be denied. For kids, sometimes that's all you need...the positive image.

I look out for our kids. They need all of us to be role models, local and national.

Seriously, McCain, we have few common goals. In fact, the reason you lost is because you have few common goals with the very people to whom you sent this email. I'm also incredulous as to why on earth McCain would ask people to donate to a group that has absolutely no defined agenda, no goals, just some vague cliches like "our Republican message" and "new generation of leaders." If he's referencing women and minorities, McCain would be wise to heed the words of LaShawn Barber (he won't) who quotes a commenter:

"Republicans are better off standing strong on their ideals and the conservative principles and letting people come to the party than trying to go to different ethnic groups and cater a specific message to all of them.”


Perhaps McCain has been stuck inside his turtle shell for too long following the election. Just the other day RNC officials were on C-Span debating the still-undefined identity of the GOP (it didn't help when Herr Duncan said the GOP needs to use "the Facebook" and "the Twitter." Geez) and the only time they agreed with each other was when they parroted "Reagan" in answering "Who was the best Republican president?" There is no Republican message.

McCain is incredibly short-sighted with regards to his asking for conservatives to support a fledgling PAC that has no record whatsoever - only a minor comfort whem compared to McCain's convoluted record. We have RINO groups by the dozens; we certainly don't need the ambitions of a man who not only squandered the 2008 election and voters' goodwill, but also the unveiling of his PAC - and I'm glad he did. I'm grateful for John McCain's record of seeming disingenuous. It's a giant red flag and does true conservatives a favor. Had McCain won the election he would have set conservatism back 30 years and possibly destroyed the Republican party.

So I'm not interested in supporting any of his Johnny-come-lately schemes. I think I'll support Fred PAC instead.

RE: John Conyers. What's his deal anyway? Is he taking his frustration out on Sanjay because he can't hem up Karl Rove? And honestly, why is Paul Krugman even involved in this? He's an economist, not a medical doctor. What difference does it make to him who the SG turns out to be?

In less than a week, you have Diane Feinstein challening Obama's CIA selection with the Vice President-elect running his mouth AGAIN taking her side; a coward ass senate minority leader who used to quiver at the mention of Karl Rove now diminishing Obama's presidential power in print; Nancy Pelosi who couldn't win an election outside of San Francisco trying to re-shape the message of his stimulus plan that he needs to sell to the nation; and now John Conyers taking the side of a white Liberal columnist who has been critical of Obama since he announced his candidacy in opposing Sanjay Gupta. The same John Conyers who didn't do shit when Karl Rover wiped his ass with the subpoena Conyers sent to him. And now it wants to pick a fight with Obama over an non-policy pick?
