isn't it amazing how this woman blames everything and everybody for her ignorance and determination to remain so. She is just too dumb to even understand that she just does not have what it takes to be second in command of a nation. I'm not even sure that anyone can make that clear to her. Then she gets upset about the Tina Fey thing on her daughter. She is the one who marched these teenagers and her special needs baby across the stage on every possible occasion to use them for her own props to gain position. I am so glad that she is gone and I will be so glad when the media stops reporting on her and let her go back to the woods where she belongs.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich's defense attorneys have asked a federal judge to throw U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and all of his assistants off the fraud and bribery case against him.
Chief defense counsel Edward Genson said in a motion Thursday that the news conference Fitzgerald held in announcing the charges was so filled with prejudicial publicity that the prosecutor should bow out.
The full text of the motion wasn't immediately available because it had been filed under seal. But it was described by U.S. District Court Chief Judge James Holderman, who ordered it unsealed, and Blagojevich attorney Sheldon Sorosky.
Fitzgerald spokesman Randall Samborn had no immediately comment.

Burris was meeting with Monk, he testified, to drum up state business from the lobbyist -- the image of back channel dealing that Burris has sought to avoid during his Senate roll-out.
It was during THIS time that he expressed an interest in the position. NOT as a SEPARATE MEETING.
Additionally, during that question, there was some interruption from the chair and his attorney. But I thought that he made it CLEAR that that THAT conversation was SHORT annnnnnnd its purpose was NOT for asking for the SEAT.

dj, that article is suspect on its face. It's also irresponsible. I can't even begin to pick it apart.
I hate that publication.

The Guardian can be suspect at times but if the Obama administration can begin a dialogue with Hamas who by the way did win their elections maybe we can move past the insanity in the mid-east.
I don't disagree with you, but Barack isn't making statements about what he will do so that article is irresponsible for more reasons than I feel like outlining right now.
He's hedging about this issue. I'm a supporter but he's hedging BIG time. For real, he was flossing his stimulus plan and his Cabinet like it was sliced bread all over...then HUGE HUGE conflicts popped off in Mumbai and then Gaza... and he was all 'We only need one prez at a time.' C'mon, Barry. C'mon.

Miranda that was hilarious !
Miranda
Like I told spirit...I remember it like it was yesterday...and this was my own comment on the blog about ANOTHER incident that happened to me years before that one....whew! Y'all bought back some moments for me tonight!
LOL….sometimes you have to embrace these “teachable” moments..it benefits all. A few years ago when I lived in Charlotte, I’ll never forget it. I was walking into a store and this “Miss Ann” type was behind me. Of course I held the door, and I didn’t see her until I was in, so I’m holding this door from the inside. She sees me and as she walks in, she stops to turn around and talk to someone she recognized that had just left out of another door. I mean, literally standing in the door with her hands clasped, talking away and I’m holding the door open. Did not even acknowledge my existence…I instantly became her “help”.
I had an out of body experience at that moment..in fact it was June of 2003, outside of Belk’s at Southpark Mall..I can’t forget it. I literally saw my spirit remove itself from my body and tell me to “let go”….and I obliged. The door slammed this lady and her friend gasped and I never turned around..I just walked on in and didn’t look back. I know it hurt her, but it had to be done. I was at peace with it.
msmartin
I was in the a store in Chicago once (guess I wasn't suposed to be there) and a woman (white) reached across me to the rack I was standing directly in front of a tried, and I mean tried to grab something that I was looking at. Well, needless to say she drew er arm back without the item and left the store immediately.

You sound like me, when they don't move and they see me, I brush right through and say excuse you. When they don't thank me for holding the door, I say, "you're welcome". I don't let shit slide. Oh you will respect me. I'll help you.
I've held doors open for all types of people. That behavior isn't limited to white women.
Sometimes we do things for people with no expectation of anything in return. If they fail to express appreciation, that says more about them than it says about you.
Now, "what does piss me off," is when you're holding the door and they push against the door rail like you're too weak to keep it open OR they think you're going to let it slam them in their face. Either of which shows distrust and disrespect.
As for that white woman who was thankless toward you, maybe she doesn't like "polite" negroes? Maybe you disavowed her of a long held mandingo-ruffneck fantasy? Who knows???
Women nowadays don't appreciate chivalry--they expect you to be a dog. Anything less than a dog is a disappointment. Barack's got a lot of work to do (particularly in enhancing the brand reputation of the brothas).
spirit_55z
Agree that rudeness is not limited to white women.
Agree that providing a service or kindness without expectato of reward is a sign of spiitual maturity.
Disagree with the statement of women not apreciating chivalry; it sounds to generalized. And I do love DOGS, the four legged species.
I've had this discussion before but here goes:
While it's great tohave role models and mentors, they have limitations. When they fuck up, what do you do? The skies not even the limit, so aim higher. IMO.
Barack Obama is not responsible for anyone's behavior. That's an out folks will try to use to not take RESPONSIBILITY. If you say you're a MAN, MAN UP! Cause BHO gonna make it do what it do.
You're right; it was too general. It was meant as a joke...but I do have personal, empirical evidence that I get more love when I'm doggin a chick out vs. being Mr. Nice, so...Woof, Woof!
You said: Barack's got a lot of work to do (particularly in enhancing the brand reputation of the brothas).
That is NOT his responsibility! Anyone who's relying on the symbolism of having a Black President to be productive, responsible members of society are letting circumstances dictate their actions not their character. That's the acceptance of mediocrity.
Miranda
Whether its right or not, because of his high profile, it is his responsibility....or at least that's the argument I get when I tell people its not A.I., Melo or Nelly's responsibility to be a role model for kids. I know what you're saying....and agree...but we both know that doesn't make it so.
I am not talking about those idiot rap artists who shill songs about liquor, bling and hate on Black women to make the white men that own their masters and run the labels money. People that put the Obamas on a pedestal are not striving for personal excellence. Men that need to see Obama behave properly before they can even conceive of doing the same have something wrong with them.
isonprize
And some of them are DBR - damaged beyond repair...
Yeah I was trying to be diplomatic but that was my exact point! And criticism of a few shouldn't be met with the excuse of 'knowing somebody who's different' because that leads to magical thinking and the assumption that deadbeats and criminals or those who are mediocre are going to suddenly excel because one black guy is in the WH.
Miranda
I dont think Webb suggested that...."enhancing brand reputation" (imo) simply means being the model for the ones doing the perceiving not the ones being perceived. Webb's comments were not directed to black men needing to see Obama behave properly - it was directed to those of us who think we NEVER see black men behaving properly when many already DO.
I think what was said is very clear. There's too much emphasis placed on the symbolism and nothing ever changes. In fact it's gotten worse in many ways. Whether people see it or not there's been too much complacency. Those that may know better haven't exactly added to the overall brand enhancement you speak of and have focused on themselves at the expense of everything else if that's the case.
Miranda
But all PEO would be symbolizing is what exists and hasnt been given any positive press. There are plenty of hardworking good black men, and its not their fault public perception is that they are vitually non-existent...all Webb is saying (and he'll have to correct me if I'm wrong) is that PEO in and of himself can help to correct the very wrong perception that all black men are thugged out dogs. He'll help to "enhance the brand" so to speak, just by being who he is and on the national news every night.
This is where we disagree. A lot of "good" men as you say (with no criteria mind you) are NOT doing anything while neighborhoods become war zones and other people abandon their responsibilities. There was a time when people would step in at least. But this is really a moot point because the proof is there for all to see.
Miranda
OK...we agree to disagree...because I know and see black men working and volunteering and mentoring young kids and teens every single day. I know plenty of them here in Atlanta, in Charlotte, in L.A, Jacksonville and so on.....I know lots of black men who are handling their business in all facets of their lives. There is a perception that they dont exist and hopefully that will change just by virtue of the "symbol".
Yes there are but they are not using political clout to get things moving on a national scale and it isn't necessarily permanent what they're doing. A few people doesn't make up for the majority who are tearing things down even if one of them is the President. But let's reassess where things stand in a few years and revisit this conversation to find out how many more individuals are being productive and if the overall situation has improved.
Miranda
Cool..... what you said though reminded me of something Derrick Bozeman says all the time (former Atl city councilman) "all politics are local". I guess I know a lot of those "community organizers" who are walking the walk - but those stories dont make the 6 o'clock news.
msmartin

Miranda, you speak truth to the non televised, publisized deeds of Black men and women. I do believe and have alreay witnessed first hand how the Obama's presence on he national scene is making a impact on young black boys ad girls. One day a week I go tutor Black female 8th graders. These young girls have done a 180 since they have been following the election. I've been tutoring them for 2 years. These girls attend a school labled schol of last resort. No other public schools will take these kids.
Th girls and boys are wanting to learn, they are showing up for class and they are engaged. hey say it makes thenm hope for better when they see a black man, woman, and 2 black girls succeed on such a level. HOPE is what is keeping these kids going.
So the inspriration of the Obamas is making a difference.
Miranda
Awesome story! Yes! These kids need to see a REAL LIVE positive image that the media cannot twist no matter how they try. Regardless of PEO's administration, his presence, just his very presence sparks a pride that cannot be denied. For kids, sometimes that's all you need...the positive image.
spirit_55z
I look out for our kids. They need all of us to be role models, local and national.

O.K. I gotta "raise up" [soon] BUT you get the gist. :>) :>)
This lady rips Johnny mac a new one. She compares him to the IKE turner of the republican party. All I could say was "damn that was cold."
A direct line from the only good speech he gave during the campaign, his rally cry at the RNC.
"Today, I’m asking you as a friend and supporter to renew your commitment to our common goals by becoming a Charter Member of Country First with an online contribution."
Good grief; only four graphs in and he's already asked me for money twice. One more time and he'll will beat the Zimbabwean official who emailed me the other day because I am his only hope. If his preshus message is so paramount, the why is he asking for cash before it's even defined? It seems just as Conserva-kat says: a scam.
Seriously, McCain, we have few common goals. In fact, the reason you lost is because you have few common goals with the very people to whom you sent this email. I'm also incredulous as to why on earth McCain would ask people to donate to a group that has absolutely no defined agenda, no goals, just some vague cliches like "our Republican message" and "new generation of leaders." If he's referencing women and minorities, McCain would be wise to heed the words of LaShawn Barber (he won't) who quotes a commenter:
"Republicans are better off standing strong on their ideals and the conservative principles and letting people come to the party than trying to go to different ethnic groups and cater a specific message to all of them.”
Perhaps McCain has been stuck inside his turtle shell for too long following the election. Just the other day RNC officials were on C-Span debating the still-undefined identity of the GOP (it didn't help when Herr Duncan said the GOP needs to use "the Facebook" and "the Twitter." Geez) and the only time they agreed with each other was when they parroted "Reagan" in answering "Who was the best Republican president?" There is no Republican message.
McCain is incredibly short-sighted with regards to his asking for conservatives to support a fledgling PAC that has no record whatsoever - only a minor comfort whem compared to McCain's convoluted record. We have RINO groups by the dozens; we certainly don't need the ambitions of a man who not only squandered the 2008 election and voters' goodwill, but also the unveiling of his PAC - and I'm glad he did. I'm grateful for John McCain's record of seeming disingenuous. It's a giant red flag and does true conservatives a favor. Had McCain won the election he would have set conservatism back 30 years and possibly destroyed the Republican party.
So I'm not interested in supporting any of his Johnny-come-lately schemes. I think I'll support Fred PAC instead.
RE: John Conyers. What's his deal anyway? Is he taking his frustration out on Sanjay because he can't hem up Karl Rove? And honestly, why is Paul Krugman even involved in this? He's an economist, not a medical doctor. What difference does it make to him who the SG turns out to be?

The Detroit News reports that President-elect Barack Obama's new limousine is an armored Cadillac from GM:
General Motors Corp. recently delivered to the U.S. Secret Service a brand new presidential limousine, replacing the 2006 model Cadillac DTS presidential limousine that President George W. Bush has used.
The new limousine, dubbed the 2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine, makes its debut on Inauguration Day. It's the first presidential limousine not to carry a specific model name, said GM spokesman David Caldwell.

Where have all the 'ride or die' Obama soldiers gone? During the primaries and general election any criticism of Obama's Team's strategies were met with a swift kick in the ass from most folks here at JJP. I still have the fight marks to prove it. Not that I'm complaining...fatigue and fear lead to some moments of panic for which I deserved a good slapping around.
Where is that fierce protection of Obama now?! Is Obama doomed to becoming yet another 'Black first' (albeit the ultimate first) that makes history without measurable success that follows? Is that enough for Black folks? Or do we want him to succeed for US? For generations to follow?
The first 100 days of his administration are critical to his long-term success and yet we see his fellow Democrats and white Liberals prepared to sabotage him even before he's officially sworn in. You would think he actually lost the election, but stole it with the help of the Supreme Court. Oh, I'm sorry! That illegitimate idiot had the support of his Party! They treated him like he won 53% of the vote; got the largest winning vote margin for his Party in 30 years; and won states that his Party hasn't won in decades.
In less than a week, you have Diane Feinstein challening Obama's CIA selection with the Vice President-elect running his mouth AGAIN taking her side; a coward ass senate minority leader who used to quiver at the mention of Karl Rove now diminishing Obama's presidential power in print; Nancy Pelosi who couldn't win an election outside of San Francisco trying to re-shape the message of his stimulus plan that he needs to sell to the nation; and now John Conyers taking the side of a white Liberal columnist who has been critical of Obama since he announced his candidacy in opposing Sanjay Gupta. The same John Conyers who didn't do shit when Karl Rover wiped his ass with the subpoena Conyers sent to him. And now it wants to pick a fight with Obama over an non-policy pick?
I'm still ride or die Obama. I tend to ignore the criticisms now, because it's clear to me the people doing the criticizing just want the attention. I choose to avert my eyes more than anything.
Barack Obama isn't president yet. And therefore, as far as I see it, doesn't deserve most, if not all, of the criticism launched at him. Most folks assume that Barack must only appoint purists, whatever that means to the criticizers. And they also assume no one should be rewarded for ever making a mistake, that their past behavior will always determine their future behavior, and that redemption is just a word.
Why fight foolishness? I pick my battles much better now.

Craig, Co-sign. I'm in it to win it and support President Obama wholeheartedly
I'm an old farm girl. You don't plant seeds for harvest one day, and then go dig up the dirt the next day to see if it's all ripe and ready.
Rick Warren (so over it) Hillary and Bill Clinton (ugh) Joe Lieberman (gah) Nancy Pelosi (crook) Harry Reid (bitch ass) Blago and Burris (why does this song play in my head when I think about these two?)
LMAO, I once owned his greatest hits CD, now I'm gonna have to get it on my ipod.

STRAIGHT GANSTA!

Awesome link of The Godfather! I wish they would put Midnight Special on DVD, I loved that show. Performers actually performing their songs live and not lip synching, what a concept.
Nardwilly
It is on DVD. You must not be up late enough to see the infmercial
MsKitty
Thanks for the heads up. I'll look for an online link to it because infomercials are way past my bedtime.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, it's all Obama's fault.

You said a mouthful and I really don't know how to respond!

She has her hands dirty, and it was deliberate that she found out in the media.
with the Vice President-elect running his mouth AGAIN taking her side;
I believe he was playing 'good cop'.
a coward ass senate minority leader who used to quiver at the mention of Karl Rove now diminishing Obama's presidential power in print;
All the while being punked, as firedoglake so aptly put it - by a 71 year old man who hadn't been in politics for 14 years.
Nancy Pelosi who couldn't win an election outside of San Francisco trying to re-shape the message of his stimulus plan that he needs to sell to the nation;
I hear you on that one.
and now John Conyers taking the side of a white Liberal columnist who has been critical of Obama since he announced his candidacy in opposing Sanjay Gupta.
I know...like anyone knows who the Surgeon General is, and call Krugman out..we know you're talking about him.
The same John Conyers who didn't do shit when Karl Rover wiped his ass with the subpoena Conyers sent to him.
I hear you, and stood down because he was ORDERED by Pelosi to do so. So, yes, he needs to STFU before someone investigates his wife hard.
And now it wants to pick a fight with Obama over an non-policy pick? Trying to stay relevant as his hometown is being destroyed, bit by bit.
thanks for reposting.

rikyrah: Thank you for your response. I was disturbed by John Conyers' letter. But, I'm still catching up on some of the historical political events which have occurred and the political figures and roles that exist. Sooo, I'm quietly learning! :>) :>)
Again, thank you. :>)

It's a different kind of fight now. That means new strategies and new tactics.
No, you will be attacked soon. But there has to be a distraction like Burris to endlessly debate, or the uncorked fury over the BART killing/rogue cops (when our own young men have murdered more other young black men than the NYPD and LAPD combined...or the Klan in the last 25 years).
However, some of these internecine attacks on Barack have been legit. The whole tenor of his team and Cabinet utterly disturbs me on a few levels, for one. The cupidity with Bush in the waning days, when he should be treated like Czar Nicholas in 1917.
Watch, next Barack will be cozing his new FCC up to Bob Johnson as Bob schemes to unleash a new TV network on us (knothing but more BET tripe in a Trojan horse).
Cozy up with Bob Johnson? Have you forgotten (or were you unaware of) the coon-show that Johnson performed on Billary's behalf during the primaries. I don't expect to see Bob Johnson anywhere near the *O* Administration. Johnson shouldn't be able to get a job as a toilet janitor in the federal gov.
As for the Czar Nicholas-GWBush reference, ain't enough acid on earth to eat up Satan's bones....having said that, Bush is gonna need the Secret Service beyond the ten years granted him...Cheney too.
