If you've got DirecTV (or is it Dish Network?), I really liked Link TV. There's more of a international documentary format than a news and politics one, but its still good informational programming.

NPR would be a good source if it weren't going through tremendous budget cuts. One of the shows aimed at African-Americans called News & Notes (hosted by Farai Chideya) is getting axed.

There is one other show you might be interested in called Tell Me More hosted by Michel Martin. If they don't clear the show on the radio where you live, they host it online and provide a podcast.
