I have to take a television break now that Larry King has brought on all of these annoying and superficial celebrities! Quincy Jones and all the rest of them, please spare me!
I much prefer to listen to the heartfelt stories of real everyday Americans!

So I take it you missed Hardball "it's great to be black!" episode today with Spike Lee? Chris Matthews is one step away from being that white guy that only wants to be with black women because he understands their struggles. I hate that guy. It was painful.
Sepia
His interview with Fenty was awkward.
rikyrah
What was awkward about it?
Sepia
Well, to me it seemed like Tweety was so worried about offending Fenty and black people that he seemed uncomfortable with his questions. It was like he was thinking "God, please don't let me fukk up. Cuz all these Negros will whoop my white ass!"
spirit_55z
LOL! Tweety needs a good beatdown. Oh, good grief! Sounds like one of the moments where a white person didn't have a white tag-along so he wouldn't be in the minority.
White folks don't like to position themselves where they are the Lone Ranger.
House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn has been chosen by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to lead the House delegation for the Inaugural Ceremony at the Capitol, Tuesday, January 20, 2009.
“As we take part in this historic moment, a man who has made history himself, Majority Whip James Clyburn, the highest ranking African American in Congress, will lead the House of Representatives in the Inaugural Ceremony,” said Speaker Pelosi. “Mr. Clyburn’s life of public service—from a young student activist in civil rights movement, through his work as Human Affairs Commissioner in South Carolina, to a national leader today—paved the way for future generations. He is an inspiration to all.”
“I am deeply humbled to lead my distinguished colleagues as part of this historic event,” said Clyburn. “The Inaugural Ceremony will give all Americans—Republican and Democrat, black and white, eastern and western, young and old—an opportunity to put our differences aside and come together to reflect upon and celebrate what makes this nation great.”
Majority Whip Clyburn will lead the procession of Members of the House of Representatives from the Capitol building to the inaugural platform where they will be seated for the Inauguration of Barack Obama and Joseph Biden as President and Vice President respectively. The Inaugural Ceremony will be held on the West Front of the United States Capitol, facing the National Mall.

Just a few days before his inauguration as the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama stopped in Bedford Heights, Ohio, to visit the Cardinal Fastener factory there.
In his remarks, President-elect Obama pointed out that the company’s roots in the country go deep—its bolts appear in both the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge—but it now earns half its profits from the manufacture of parts for wind turbines.
“In some ways you can’t think of a more iconic company than Cardinal Fastener,” President-elect Obama said. “The story of this copmany…is that renewable energy isn’t something pie in the sky. It’s not part of a far off future. It’s happening all acorss America right now.”

Just an alert to folks like me who live-off pillsbury peanut butter cookies. The factory responsible for the salmonella outbreak is in Blakely, GA--so no doubt, we're being poisoned by some redneck angry about Obama's victory/inauguration.
George Washington Carver would be disturbed by the use of his discovery for such ill purposes.
Miranda
No you didn't! LOL Well I guess Dr. Carver wouldn't like these nefarious activities with his peanuts! LOL
I looked at the list of cookies on the recall list.....I buy the peanut butter cookies as my 2pm snack everyday at work! But last week they were out - the WHOLE week....good thing because otherwise I'd be a goner.
spirit_55z
Miranda, shut yout mouth. So glad you didn't have those cookies last week. We need you!!!!!!
Miranda
All of the Austin and Lance little 6 cookie packs - I WAS totally addicted to the peanut butter cookies! I even complained one day because they weren't in the darn snack machine! I guess this is my sign to eat an apple or some fresh fruit instead.
spirit_55z
Yes, the signs. They're always there, if we're awake and aware. This afternoon I met a group of friends at a downtown at one of my favorite Minneapolis resturants called "Hells Kitchen."
They serve breakfast 24 hrs/day, and they make their own peanut butter daily. It's the yummiest, and we'd all been going on about how we couldn't wait to get to HELL to get some of that peanut butter.
I arrived early to get us a table and asked the host to pass out the breakfast menu. She said they'd stop serving breakfast on Saturdays by 3pm. Well, us course it was 3:15 p.m. when I arrived, so no breakfast and no PB!
We didn't hear about the salmonella TAINTED peanut butter recall until after we'd gone to another resturant , eaten and headed home heard it on NPR.
I don't know if the peanuts Hell's Kitchen uses is on the list, but I'm sure we were steered away by Divine providence. I'm grateful.
Yeah, I was relieved to see it's only the cookies with the fillings--not actual Pillsbury Dough.

Police: Woman Goes To Hair Appointment After Crash
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — An elderly woman in Palm Beach County crashed with her vehicle into a man on a scooter and then kept driving to make her hair appointment, police said. Louise Davidson, 77, was arrested Thursday for leaving the scene of an injury crash, Boynton Beach police said.
Police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said the woman was turning right when she veered into the path of the oncoming scooter that had the right of way. The man was thrown by the impact onto the windshield and then fell to the road, she added. Police said they later spotted the woman's car after she had her hair appointment. Authorities said the man suffered abrasions all over his body but the injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Obama thinks he can keep his BlackBerry
You all probably already saw this post but I had to highlight my favorite part. Last sentence. Where Obama roughly says - Opinions are like as*holes everybody has one."
Larry King asked Obama about recent criticism of his pick for Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner. “The New York Times, for example, has an editorial today saying, not the right guy for the job at this time of economic peril,” said King. “They say this controversy has tainted his ability to command respect and instill confidence.”
Replied Obama: “Well, you know, The New York Times editorial page has a lot of opinions, as does The Wall Street Journal editorial page, and some of them are better than others. This wasn't a good one.”
I think one of my favorite things is the line of port-a-potties and the logo people in line to use them. Who thinks of that stuff?
Justice58
Hey My Fellow Texan,
Very Nice. Just too cool. I love it!
Val
That was incredible Texas Girl.
Val
Do you notice Barack now has less gray in his hair today?
You know . . . I suspected that some of the gray was not based on just natural causes but was "added" to remove folks concern about him being too "young" and to make him more "acceptable" to older folks. But that could be just my own imagination . . . don't think so but . . . could be.

I just had one of those "S----, a Black man is really about to become POTUS" moments. I'm really praying that God gives PE BO the strength and wisdom necessary for the job. I truly pray for divine humbleness for both Barack and Michelle. I pray for both of them, mainly because I dont trust politicians of neither party. I loath democrats as much as I do republicans; no secret there. I dont trust 99% of the people BO has surrounded himself with, and yes you can call me a pessimist. But Im wishing BO the best. Soon we'll start to see to what extent Bush's fcked up this country.
Val
I appreciate your honesty. You have valid concerns. Just keep your hands in it because PE Obama will need ALL of us to turn this thing around. It won't always be perfect and we won't always agree on everything but we can do this. I believe it.
I am with you on the paryers and not sure of the folks surrounding him but some things are best left to higher powers when it is beyond our control.

okay he put his coat on. Michelle said -- it's cold. LOLOLOL

Steven Joseph Christopher Charged With Threatening Obama On The Internet
An affidavit from Secret Service Special Agent Kelly Adcox released by Lampton's office quotes Christopher as saying he has nothing personal against Obama and that he's not a racist. Authorities said Christopher made the threats Jan. 11 and 15 on the Web site . http://www.alien-earth.org
"Yes, I have decided I will assassinate Barack Obama. It's really nothing personal about the man," Christopher said, according to the release. "But I know it's for the country's own good that I do this."
Authorities didn't say whether Christopher had weapons, but the affidavit said he wrote in his posting that he did not own a gun and needed one donated.

Happy Birthday Michelle
“Even though I’m campaigning, ladies, I just want you to know, I’m taking her out to dinner tonight,” then-Senator Obama said at an event at Ranchero High School on his wife’s birthday.
The Obamas hit Las Vegas that night, and the future President later recalled his astonishment at the price of a glass of celebratory bubbly.
“I took her out to dinner," he said. "At a fancy restaurant. Because she has just been so spectacular putting up with me on this presidential run. And I thought that I was being slick, I got her a nice gift, a piece of jewelry and I had it arranged to take to the waiter before we go to the restaurant. And I said, you know, 'Bring us a glass of champagne,' because Michelle likes champagne...
"Everything went off without a hitch," he said, "the gift came out, the champagne, Michelle loved it, she was feeling good. At the end of the dinner, I looked at the check . . . http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/01...

Mark Ndesandjo, Obama's Half Brother, Performs Piano Concert In China
SHENZHEN, China — The news release didn't say who Mark Ndesandjo was. Nor did the posters and e-mails promoting the concert Friday in this southern Chinese boomtown where he played piano to raise money for orphans. But the 200 or so people who showed up for the fundraiser at a posh hotel resort knew the man in a Chinese-style brown silk shirt was the half brother of President-elect Barack Obama. They had a rare encounter with Ndesandjo, who has been dodging the media since his family ties were made public last summer.
Ndesandjo's reluctance to play up his famous relative is extremely unusual in China, where people commonly name drop and use their connections to advance their interests. In China, relationships, or "guanxi," with powerful people are golden and rarely wasted in winning new business or opening other doors. As his Chinese wife watched, Ndesandjo began his performance with a Chinese tune called "Liuyang River" followed by what he said was "Chopin's First Nocturne." His third and final piece was a jazz tune by Fats Waller called "Viper's Drag." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/16/mark-n...

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Just days ahead of his inaugural address, Barack Obama called on the country Saturday to summon up a resilient national spirit that dates back to George Washington as it prepares to confront trying times ahead.
“There is much work to be done. But now, all Americans hold within our hands the promise of a new beginning,” Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address, which touched on themes he promised to address at the inauguration Tuesday. “That is why the events of the next several days are not simply about the inauguration of an American president – they will be a celebration of the American people.”
He made the remarks as he prepared to set out Saturday on a symbolic train trip from Philadelphia to Washington, retracing the steps that Abraham Lincoln took ahead of his inauguration in 1861. Obama leaves Philadelphia at noon, picks up Vice President-elect Joe Biden in Wilmington, Del., and finishes the public portion of the trip in Baltimore at 4:15 p.m. with a rally.
The train trip marks the start of what is likely to be an emotional four days for Obama, who gave a rare peek Friday into how the historic nature of his presidency is affecting him. He acknowledged “choking up” during practice sessions for his Democratic convention speech in August when he touched upon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s accomplishments and began reflecting on his own journey.
“Well, I’m going to try to keep it together,” Obama said of the inaugural speech, in an interview with CNN. “(Y)ou think about all the women who walked instead of riding the bus, out in Montgomery and Birmingham and what a moment like this would mean to them and what’s remarkable is some of them are still alive. They’re still there and some of them are going to be standing there at the inauguration.”
Obama’s wife, Michelle, and his two daughters will join him on the train, along with some of his longest-serving aides, giving the day-long trip the feel of a victory lap into Washington after one of the longest campaigns in modern history.
Sixteen families from 15 states were also invited to ride with the Obamas, chosen based on their “extraordinary contributions to the life of this country,” according to the transition team.
Obama has spoken of using his inaugural speech to capture the peril and promise of the new day, and in his radio remarks, he called this “a time of great challenge for the American people.”
“Difficult days are upon us, and even more difficult days lie ahead,” Obama said in his radio and Internet remarks. “Our nation is at war. Our economy is in great turmoil. And there is so much work that must be done to restore peace and advance prosperity. But as we approach this time-honored American tradition, we are reminded that our challenges can be met if we summon the spirit that has sustained our democracy since George Washington took the first oath of office.”
Obama also says that inauguration itself is a reminder of the power of democracy, a peaceful transition of power from leader to the next, one party to the other. “Even today billions of people around the world cannot imagine their leaders giving up power without strife or bloodshed,” he said.
And he thanked outgoing President George W. Bush and his team, who have “extended the hand of cooperation, and provided invaluable assistance to my team as we prepare to hit the ground running on January 20.”
PHILADELPHIA — President-elect Barack Obama, tracing the train route Abraham Lincoln took nearly a century and a half ago, undertook the final leg of his inaugural journey to the nation's capital Saturday, pledging to reclaim America's spirit but also warning of steep challenges facing the country.
"Starting now, let's take up in our own lives the work of perfecting our union," he said at Philadelphia's historic 30th Street train station. "Let's build a government that is responsible to the people and accept our own responsibilities as citizens to hold our government accountable. ... Let's make sure this election is not the end of what we do to change America, but the beginning and the hope for the future."
While talking about the future, Obama reflected on the past, echoing the words of the Declaration of Independence, Lincoln and President John F. Kennedy. He cited the founding fathers who risked all without assurance of success in Philadelphia in the summer of 1776.
"They were willing to put all they were and all they had on the line _ their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor _ for a set of ideals that continue to light the world: That we are equal. That our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness come not from our laws, but from our maker. And that a government of, by, and for the people can endure."
It was a momentous day for the Obamas. And for Michelle Obama, it was also time to celebrate her 45th birthday.
The president-elect's triumphant day _ a time to be heralded by cheering throngs along the 137-mile rail route _ was starting in Philadelphia with a sober discussion of the country's future with 41 people he met during his long quest for the White House.
GOD BLESS THEM!! :>) :>)
