Sooo, I'll make a SUNDAY post on this thread, O.K?

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2009, -DAY 12- Of His FIRST 100 DAYS! :>)

1. Obama rocks the Alfalfa Club

How big is Barack Obama right now?

But Obama spread the wealth, so to speak, taking care to gently tweak himself.

To Vernon Jordan, the power lawyer who won this year’s honor as Alfafa's presidential nominee, Obama observed: “Just because a guy can give great speeches doesn’t mean he’s going to be a great president.”

Of course this being a political crowd in a political town after the ultimate political year, Obama got in a few campaign yuks.

i agree w/ your concerns about food and food additives. These Italian cities aren't talking about that. They are banning Kebabs made of Italian lamb. Chinese Beef stir fry from italian (euro) beef. Salsa from tomatoes orginally found in Peru years ago but grown in Europe/Italy. it is because it isn't Italian in orgin. Considering Italians didn't consider themselves that till the late 1800's I guess you shouldn't eat Pasta Bolognese if your in Rome.

President Barack Obama has violated the ancient political rule of noninvolvement in sports disputes among competing constituents. He's taken sides in the Super Bowl.

The president said he is rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII on Sunday, although he took pains to applaud the Cinderella story of the Arizona Cardinals.

“I wish the Cardinals the best,” Obama said in a media availability at the White House on Friday, but he described himself as “a longtime Steelers fan.”

“Other than the Bears,” Obama said, “the Steelers are probably the team that's closest to my heart.”

Meanwhile, the White House announced that Obama will hold a Super Bowl party on Sunday, inviting several members of Congress, including Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), Rep. Artur Davis (D-AL) and Del. Eleanor Holmes-Norton (D-DC) of the Congressional Black Caucus.
WATCH VIDEO:

i agree w/ your concerns about food and food additives.
That would be something. My inspiration came from a recent article in the San Jose Mercury. It was about a local 81 yr old woman who runs marathons for her age group and she started at 61!! I love it. I'm up to 2 1/2 mi now. My goal is to be able to eventually do half marathons. That will take awhile.

i agree w/ your concerns about food and food additives.

You know my brother and I were discussing this 2 days ago - he's mad because the credit market has dried up and mumbling about being "punished" because of bad credit people and longing for the "old" days of deregulation and I wanted to smack him of course. I mentioned the $20M bonuses and he says if there was no gov't oversight and they can do it legally why blame them for the loopholes. Well... that's a conversation about lobbyists and white supremacy and protectionism for certain class structures, but no one will ever convince me this was because of $200M in bad loans for mortgages. That could've been easily paid for and bought up and problem solved. That's just a smokescreen for the bigger robbery. I believe there's more that we don't know about. They've cooked the books and should go the way of Arthur Anderson and Enron imo.

You know my brother and I were discussing this 2 days ago – he's mad because the credit market has dried up and mumbling about being “punished” because of bad credit people and longing for the “old” days of deregulation and I wanted to smack him of course. I mentioned the $20M bonuses and he says if there was no gov't oversight and they can do it legally why blame them for the loopholes. Well… that's a conversation about lobbyists and white supremacy and protectionism for certain class structures, but no one will ever convince me this was because of $200M in bad loans for mortgages. That could've been easily paid for and bought up and problem solved. That's just a smokescreen for the bigger robbery. I believe there's more that we don't know about. They've cooked the books and should go the way of Arthur Anderson and Enron imo.

I'm sitting up here watching this show on the History International channel about the US right after the civil war and the battle for white supremacy in the South. It's called Aftershock: Beyond the Civil War.

All I can say is O M G. It tells the story of the beginning of the Klan who were by the way were mostly Democrats at the time. The violence against the freed Blacks got out of control after the 'radical Republicans' in Congress (2/3 majority in both houses) ratified the 14th amendment that gave Blacks, but not ex-confederates, the right to vote. As you would imagine, this did not go over that well with the white folks. According to the program, 6 ex confederates returned to TN and had to denounce the confederacy and pledge their allegiance to the United States. They were likened to Al Qaeda.

Nothing but pure evil. Now I see why so many white southerners haven't gotten over the civil war, or as they call it, the War of Northern Aggression.

I knew it was bad, I didn't know it was THAT bad. Pure evil. They need to have a deliverance service all over the South.
