Let's hope that time will be on Obama's side and within the next 2 years he will be judged kindly. If not there may be no more installments. Let's hope the country will continue to allow this kind of debt to continue to mount up. There will be a need for more money before the next 2 years I am afraid.

I think people are far to spoiled and want cushy jobs no matter what. You know Black people don't want to go back to the fields, but there are a certain segment of jobs available that have always been around, but some people would rather sell drugs instead or sit out and wait. That's not gonna fly.

$100 a month isn't a lot but for some people it might make a big difference in paying the light bill or not. I think the extension of jobless benefits is really important and is going to be a lifeline as is the help for state governments. i hope this passes the Senate quickly.

I agree with that — why compromise with obstructionists (unless they felt they needed to do this to get it through the Senate)? Also $900 bil is a lot of money. I have a feeling this is a first installment y'all. Let's spend some $ first, see how we're doing and I reckon we may see a second bill a year or 2 from now to make adjustments.

Putin talking about state control of the economy is a problem. His bluster hides his fundamental ignorance of thow the economy works. One, the Russian economy is run by oligarchs beholden to the Kremilin. Get out of line and go to the gulag. Two, the wealth generated by russia in the last few years comes from exporting raw materials. Very little of this income has moved into the infrastructure of Russia in the form of new roads, ports, electric lines, sewere systems, health care facilities, et al which are the responsbility of the state. Three, the banks and oligarchs of russia are suffering from the same crisis as the rest of the world, i.e. overexpansion of credit based on the prices of assets continually expanding. four, in order keep the economy form collapsing Russia has resorted to the same tactics every government is atttempting w a slight difference; they are spending foreign currency reserves to prop up economic activity thru state activity. Only the very nimble and connected ever held Russian financial assets. We might sell at a discount but there are buyers for US government bonds.
