CNN announces 'State of the Union with John King'

Yet another White male given his own show on CNN. When's Roland Martin gonna get is due? Hell, I'd even prefer Jeff Tobin.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – CNN announced Wednesday that its revamped Sunday public affairs show is titled “State of the Union with John King.”

The new program, hosted by CNN Chief National Correspondent John King, will air every Sunday from 9 a.m. through 1 p.m.

The show will launch January 18 the weekend before President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration. The first show will preview the January 20 inauguration, and examine the upcoming Obama administration.

I agree it is true of most couples..when the wife is an accomplish individual in her own right…a la Hillary.

But other political wives learn to downplay themselves as individuals…a la Laura Bush, Lillian Carter etc.

“Say what you want, but they have been consistent.” That's one of the reasons I find white Liberal criticism (and OUR failure to defend him) so damn infuriarting. He's been consistent! He NEVER adverstised himself or his positions as anything other than what they are today. He's not driven by political ideaology but his own moral and social conscious. How one could have read his books, his past interviews, including those after he became President of Harvard's law review, and discovered anyone other than a consensus builder boggles the mind.

I love Obama's introspectiveness that allows him to be an couple at the same time he recognizes their individuality. It is like he says…you do not stand in my shadow and I do not stand in yours…but like 2 strong oaks we stand together and make a stronger unit than either alone.

Michelle tends to dominate conversations whenever her and Obama are interviewed as a couple. It is clear he is madly in love with her. I am glad she really has learned to reduce her conversation and recognize that folks are there to really listen to Obama much moreso than Michelle.

I can imagine that was really apparent, early on when they did interviews. Michelle was so much her own woman and working at a high powered job..so she was far more use to being Michelle than Mrs. Obama in public venues.

Which is all good when the interview is based on her own individual achievements but not when the interview is being done based on her husbands achievements. She is a backdrop to those achievements when Obama is the focus..and that can be really a hard transistion at first for an accomplish individual and especially an accomplished female.

Michelle, I am glad to see has made huge improvement in that area as was seen in their BarbaraWaWa interview.

Ok finished it. The English translation is somewhat faithful. However, there are areas of nuance that were missed especially when Michelle was speaking that are kind of concerning. Those passages make Michele seem much less likeable than she does in the French version. I think its especially important because Michele speaks for two thirds of the interview. I wonder if its deliberate…

I am reading it in French. And my initial reaction is that the interviewer is a dick and is asking questions as if they are extraordinary black people. But let me not be so harsh and read the rest of the thing
