When it comes to Meek for me. It is not about his style of being black. I am fine with that. I beleive all of us should have the freedom to be who and what we are as that represents the full spectrum of our culture. There is no one way...we have affluent, rich, poor, articulate, ebonicsounding gracious and uncouth and ignorant...don't matter to me.

But my issue is with Meeks, politically. He is in bed with the Cubans, he would not back the representive of the Dem party..he nor Wasserman.

So, politics is why I would reluctantly endorse his candidacy...not how he projects being the person he is while happening to be black.

With therapy I believe that I can kinda' get over his support for Hill :) But publicly announcing that he would not support/endorse two (I didn't think Tadeo ever really had a chance) of the best chances we have had in a long while to unseat the Republicans because he's in bed with them is UNFORGIVABLE. He and Wasserman-Schultz threw the FL Dem party to the wolves. I would be pleased as punch with Alex Sink and apparently, so would the national party. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2009/01...

My first reaction was there is no way in hell he get the support of the FL Democratic Party or the DNC, but Burris changes all that. Burris will be disposed of in 2010 (no funding and no endorsements), so they'll have to run a viable Black candidate in another state.

Some of the criticisms here of meek are similar to the criticisms of Obama, not drinking the Black folks Kool Aid. I am particularly sensitive as mmany bourgeoisie Blacks may have experienced.

My dad played golf. About 50-75 other Blacks in our mid sized midwestern city played golf. I was a smart kid and an only child. My peers accused me of thinking and acting white. We were all struggling. My parents struggled for fair employment just like theirs. I ate beans and neckbones just like they did.

late in life a friend of mine and I coined a phrase for this attitude, "Charging admission to be Black" If your Black experience is different from mine, then you are not Black enough. We saw this in "Barack was raised by a white family and his father is African. He has no slave heritage. He is not Black enough" Now there are people judging Brother Meek as lacking because he backed Hillary Clinton not Obama early on. Some how that says something negative about his support for the Black community.

There is no charge to be Black. All of respond to this sick racism in our individual ways. Each response is real. Some responses are more ethical, uplifting, positive and couragous than others, but they all are a Black response to racism.

His mother was a great politician. How Kendrick has welded his political power is somewhat different in terms of the special interests he is beholden to.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt I could say he is just responding to his political times.

But, as a member of the CBC he voted to endorse HILL not O....the logic I always find overwhelming about the vote is that the CBC basically failed to endorse their very own member. Somethng about that is so foul...it just makes it unforgettable.
