JACKSON, Miss. — A Wisconsin man was arrested Friday in Mississippi after authorities said he threatened on the Internet to kill President-elect Barack Obama.
Steven Joseph Christopher, 42, was taken into custody by the Secret Service in Brookhaven, Miss., and charged with threatening to assassinate Obama for what he claimed was "the country's own good," federal prosecutors said. The criminal complaint was sealed until Christopher's appearance in federal court.
Federal Judge James C. Sumner ordered Christopher held until a bail hearing next Thursday.
"Threats against the president-elect will be taken very seriously," Dunn Lampton, U.S. attorney for the southern district of Mississippi, said in a release. "Use of Internet chat rooms to express those threats is as much a crime as uttering the words. Threats of this nature will be pursued swiftly and vigorously."
An affidavit from Secret Service Special Agent Kelly Adcox released by Lampton's office quotes Christopher as saying he has nothing personal against Obama and that he's not a racist. Authorities said Christopher made the threats Jan. 11 and 15 on the Web site . http://www.alien-earth.org</i>
"Yes, I have decided I will assassinate Barack Obama. It's really nothing personal about the man," Christopher said, according to the release. "But I know it's for the country's own good that I do this."
Authorities didn't say whether Christopher had weapons, but the affidavit said he wrote in his posting that he did not own a gun and needed one donated.
A reporter was prevented from speaking to Christopher, who appeared in court Friday in shorts and a yellow T-shirt full of holes, or his attorney as they were escorted from the courthouse by authorities.
I plead the blood of Jesus to protect President Obama & his family...In Jesus Name!

BUSH Presidency- 8 years in 8 minutes (What a DISASTER)
I just walked out of a movie 10 minutes after it started. I live in CT and for a long time they didn't show "urban" movies at my local theater. Well, I went to see "Notorious" tonight; they had POLICE OFFICERS, they were double checking IDs and tickets, and just acting a damn fool, treating the patrons of that specific movie as though they were dirt beneath their feet.
I was YELLED at by a movie theater employee to turn off my phone, TWICE, because it was "interrupting the projector."
I had to get the hell up and walk the hell out and ask for a refund. I already called the local paper and am soon to write my letter to the company.

Losing That Special Spark No Fireworks in Obama Festivities
For the first time in 28 years, there will be no fireworks on the Mall during inaugural festivities.
In repeated public announcements, the committee has promised that Barack Obama's inauguration will be "the most open and accessible inauguration in American history." But the lack of fireworks represents a departure from one of the most accessible traditions that accompany the celebration of a new presidency. A fireworks display has been a feature of the past seven consecutive inaugurations, starting with Ronald Reagan's in 1981.
And this year, other than the traditional inaugural parade, opportunities for free entertainment accessible to Washingtonians and those visiting for the festivities seem sparse when compared with some previous inaugurations, particularly Bill Clinton's first. blah blah blah
All of that costs money. I thought they wanted Obama to "tone down" his inauguration and have a peanut butter sammich and potato chip reception. Now they're complaining that his inauguration isn't abundant like everybody elses?

...peanut butter sammich and potato chip reception...
:: Gasp :: You mean they aren't serving tuna macaroni salad or that g-fab tri-color corkscrew pasta salad ??!
Let's hope they at least have plenty huggies juice dranks on hand. Don't want to run out of those. LOL

Those mofos just NEED something to complain about.

They're also kicking out the prostitutes. Everybody can make a buck off of Obama except the working girls.
DC To Erect Prostitution-Free Zones During Inaugural Weekend
Barack Obama's extended and largely international family is gathering in Washington to celebrate his inauguration. Kezia Obama, a 67-year-old native of Kenyan who was married to Barack Obama Sr., is among them, traveling from her home in Bracknell, England to Washington, DC Thursday. Scroll down for slideshow.
According to The Daily Telegraph, she also has business interests in Washington:
Mrs Obama has also launched an online bingo game called Mrs Obama's Online Bingo in honour of her step-son Barack's inauguration.
She is helping launch the online Gala bingo game to raise £1 million for Sue Ryder Care, which helps people in the UK suffering from Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's and Multiple Sclerosis.
She is launching Mrs Obama's Online Bingo as the US President-Elect prepares for his inauguration in Washington, DC, on Tuesday 20.
The Daily Mail profiled Kezia last year, and she recounted her first meeting with Barack in 1985 in Kenya, and her relationship with Barack's mother Ann Dunham.
"Barack Jr was really happy to meet us. He was really eager to see the family home and to see where his father was buried. He was quiet and was always reading history books.
"Now, still, he can be quiet but he has a good sense of humour and is good with people. He treats everybody the same, whether it is the cleaner or the managing director. He has the common touch.
"I'm very proud that he wants to include us in his life. As a family, we are very friendly, very close. Story continues below
"The family are still very important to him. That would make Barack Sr very happy.
"We have seen each other many times since that first visit, in the US, in Kenya and in England. I was very fond of Barack Jr's mother, Ann.
"She came to Kenya after Barack Snr died and she and I became great friends. She was like a sister to me."

The City of Detroit’s top lawyer resigned Thursday, a day after she allegedly said the city’s predominantly black 36th District Court was “acting like a ghetto court.”
Deputy Mayor Saul Green accepted her resignation Thursday, the same day that 36th District Court Chief Judge Marylin Atkins sent a letter to Kathleen Leavey and other city officials protesting her alleged remarks.
Leavey said in an interview this morning that her remarks were taken out of context.
Leavey, who is white, said she got into a heated discussion Wednesday with a court administrator about the court’s handling of a lawsuit against the court in which it asked the city to pay the judgment of $400,000 against it without warning.
“I told her people regard this as a ghetto court because of the way they treat people,” Leavey said.
Leavey said she was referring to long lines and slow service at the court – not it’s predominately African-American group of judges and rejected Atkins’ labeling of her as a racist. The administrator contacted Atkins, who contacted Deputy Mayor Saul Green, Leavey said.
“In her mind it was racist, and the mayor and deputy mayor also felt it was racist and felt I had to resign,” she said.
Atkins said today her letter speaks for itself.
A letter she wrote to Leavey said the remarks came during a Jan. 14 meeting between Leavey, Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel Dennis Mazurek and members of the court staff. They met to discuss funding for the court.
Atkins said in the letter that Leavey told court staffers that “when the court stopped ‘acting like a ghetto court,’ the city would be more inclined to pay for our operations” – a claim Leavey denied.
The letter said Mazurek called the court a “part-time” operation because judges are unavailable in the afternoons and that the court is uncooperative with the city.
Atkins said in the letter that she was “absolutely offended by your characterization of this court as ‘ghetto.’ How dare you! Not only are your words insulting and racist to this court and the entire city, but they are highly unprofessional coming from the highest ranking attorney for the City of Detroit.
“This entire court has worked too hard under my leadership for the past nine years to be denigrated by you or anyone else. Our court enjoys a positive reputation in the city and we have the hardest-working, most dedicated judges and employees that you can find in any other court in the State of Michigan. Just because you cannot dictate your wishes to us is no basis for you to ignore your legal responsibility as our funding unit or stoop to racially charged insults.
“I am not asking for an apology because I know it would not be sincere,” Atkins continued. The letter was addressed to Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr., Green, judges and magistrates of the court, City Council President Monica Conyers and Council President Pro Tem JoAnn Watson.
Leavey said she will return to her former post as an attorney for the Law Department, a move allowed by union rules that let appointees, if they lose their mayoral appointment, revert to their previous civil servant position, if they had one.
Cockrel spokesman Daniel Cherrin said Leavey was asked to resign because her comments were “inappropriate.”
“It’s an unfortunate development in Kathy’s long and productive career as a city employee,” he said. “The mayor was disappointed by her comments, which were unacceptable and do not reflect the values and policies of the City of Detroit or his administration.”
Leavey, former head of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, was put in charge of the Law Department following the departure of John Johnson in the text-messaging scandal involving former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
On the surface, this ain't lookin' 2 good given the recent "tone" of the day.
Sooo, I talked to my sister in Detroit and she said that there is a lot of "stuff" happening with respect to the "WATER DISTRICT" and its servicing the CITY annnnnnd the outer areas. The attorney usta work for the "Water District."
At any rate, she's gonna get some additional details! ***shakin' my head***
