This is why I say, watch the impeachment hearings too. The folks Massa Madigan was depending upon to testify against Blago, aren't saying JACK until they get immunity from Fitzgerald - and he's not been giving it out. If he has, it's been underwraps and not reported in the local papers.

My thing is, if Fitzgerald had alllllll the evidence that they've been talking about in the papers for a good year and a half, then he shouldn't even NEED any of this Senate stuff for an indictment. My tinfoil hat is wondering whether Tony Rezko has actually been singing.

Just decided to cross the Holland Tunnel to see my parents and siblings for the New Year's. Will likely crash there with my fiance (separate rooms of course lol) then come home to Brooklyn next day.

We usually cry (for the loss of loved ones etc)- our family tradition.

I will be going to church but EARLY. After that I wanna be out with the rest of the sinners!:-) then "on my knees at midnight". I don't know maybe I will watch the ball drop like you!

Time Warner Cable Loses Viacom: MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central To Go Dark

"Media giant Viacom Inc. said its Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and 16 other channels will go dark for 13 million subscribers at 12:01 a.m. Thursday if a new carriage fee deal with Time Warner Cable Inc. is not agreed upon by then...The channels that would be affected are: Comedy Central, CMT: Pure Country, Logo, Palladia, MTV, MTV 2, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, MTV Tr3s, Nickelodeon, Noggin, Nick 2, Nicktoons, Spike, The N, TV Land, VH1, VH1 Classic, and VH1 Soul."

Okay, I don't watch MTV anymore, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Vh1 and especially VH1 Soul. In fact the reason why, I kept Time Warner and did not switch to digital satelite was because none of th satelite carriers here in Dallas included VH1 Soul. So now, I'm gonna have to decide if I even want to continue with my Time Warner cable at all are just go ahead and switch to satelite.

Man, sometimes I get all misty eyed just from the nostalgia when I see a bunch of my favorite "old skool" videos.

I only watch v-h1 though occassionaly on Sundays for the Countdown and Best Week. It seems like the rest of their programming consists of Flava of Love spin offs.

the first round of change.org's "Ideas for Change in America" wraps up today, and the top three in each category make it into the finals. Baratunde's Restore Investments In Rail Service And Infrastructure is currently #4 in global warming, only a couple of votes from the top three. If you haven't voted for it yet, now would be a great time!

Do NOT sleep on rail restoration and reinvestment. It's high time we stopped letting Bubba 'nem stand in the way effective transit and people-moving. Nearly every major metropolitan area in the country has seen its travel and commute times increase dramatically, while the cost of it increases just the same. Our highways and surface streets are constantly congested, and it's killing the environment.

Make no mistake; it's narrow-minded suburbanites and their like-minded legislators who continue to sabotage efforts at commuter rail. These people would rather pay $10/gallon for gas; and will commute 5 hours a day, if it kept Blacks, Mexicans and other undesirables on their side of town.

I was reading in the Washington Post this Sunday how there is this old railroad trail that's been turned into a walking and bike trail. There is now a push to turn that trail back into a light rail trail but the suburbanites don't want to give up their bike trail and instead want the transit route to around the burbs instead of through it. The proponents of returning the trail to its' original use claim that racism is part of why the other side is fighting so hard to keep the trail for biking and walking.

Yeah really.

Baratunde's idea now has edged into third in Global Warming, with "A Do Not Mail Registry to Stop Junk Mail" and "Hold Nationwide Town Hall Meeting on America's Energy Future" only two votes behind. A dramatic finish indeed!

Happy New Year everyone! This is my favorite time of year as New Year's Day is my birthday. I will turn 35 in a few hours and while I am still dealing with being alone and childless at this age I am thankful to see another year. And the great thing is if I ever get too down THERE IS ALWAYS A PARTY ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!

It's hard to recall the shock that greeted reports of the young Societe General trader's scheme after the year we've been through, marked by the craven come-ons of the subprime mortgage industry, overpaid overly-optimistic CEOs, a bailout that defies the imagination (just imagine almost 8,000 tons of $100 bills) and that long weekend at Bernie's.

Bernie Madoff, that is, whose massive $58 billion Ponzi scheme continues to claim victims and the imaginations of headline writers.

Herewith, let's wallow in the biggest scandals in the world of finance and business. (Sure, there are bound to be plenty of targets missing in the following slideshow. Some would include Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, others would blame former Fed chairman Alan Greenspan. But there's only so much room.)

I'm just listening to a PRI radio stream - about the whole deal. I thought Bobby Rush misspoke when he preemptively declared that no US senator should be against the appointment of [ this- Roland Burris] black man to the senate;as with Barack gone, there will be none. In the interview I heard, a a CBC rep--- congresswoman from US Virgin Island- stepped all over the issue of the Blago scandal, in a rush to embrace Burris. Perhaps he is a fine man, but where was his judgement in accepting the role after all this? Apparently another local [black]pol: Danny Davis was offered the seat before Burris, and turned it down in light of all the upcoming impeachment proceedings.

Call me a hypocrite; I do indeed hope we have a "black man" in the senate along with the one in the white house. But, as America browns, can we envision a time when a white America will basically say the same thing- that they need to retain this seat 'for the white folks'. The Sarah Palin strategy for real Americans</> failed nationally. Its not a good look, black or white.
