Cynthia Tucker is someone who needs to be slapped over that statement. If she has a problem with all black or all white colleges, then what college exactly is she referring to? Every single HBCU in GA has White students.

Time Managing Editor Richard Stengel appeared this morning on “Today” to introduce the magazine's “Person of the Year” award. Although he tried building suspense by starting in reverse order, it's no real surprise who won: President-elect Barack Obama.

However, the reason I remain skeptical about this kind of “merger” is from what I saw in a school district when they tried to name a school “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” in a predominately white community.
THEY were “protesting in the streets” FOR DAYS!!!
Thought that the NAME would attract “MORE OF THEM” to the neighborhood. They even went so far as to say that the NAME would DECREASE PROPERTY VALUES!!
RESULT: The NAME was NOT selected. :>)
BUT, that is just my experience of one incident – - “as far as I know!” :>) :>)
Annnnd, therefore, I don't believe that the HBCU traditions would last over time. IMHO :>)
