IMO Gregory ceased to be credible when he shared the stage with Karl Rove. Can you Imagine Walter Cronkite putting his hands in the air and waving them like he just don't care? Once you lose that kind of credibility it's almost impossible to get it back, or it used to be when the traditional media was relevant.

OK. So what are Black and Brown journalists doing about this? Eugene Robinson has a semi-regular spot on MTP; what's he doing to change things? Tavis Smiley has a once-a-year invitation; what up with him? There have been virtually no Latinos of note.

What–other than hoping for a repeat invitation–are Black journalists doing to change the behavior of the major networks?

There's a good reason why the critics and the establishment tend to do backflips over shows which are all about angst-ridden white men (Mad Men, Sopranos). They know as long as they continue to have power over the media, they continue to rule much of America. Back when conservative white men thought the world was theirs forever, they were happy to present a more multicultural, progressive image on TV. Now that that world is becoming a reality, everything is now produced for repressed, paranoid, middle-aged, conservative straight white men.
