Obama’s Energy and Environment Team

On Monday, lost amidst the Blagojevich hoopla, President-Elect Obama named his picks to head energy and the environment. In case you missed it, here it is:

I must say, it was nice to hear our next President say the following. . .

” . . . my administration will value SCIENCE. We will make decisions based on the FACTS.” (emphasis added)

Kinda refreshing!

So JJP . . . what do you think? What are you looking for from this administration when it comes to energy and the environment?

P.S. I really didn’t want to include the Blagojevich stuff, but it found its way into the MSNBC clip anyway. Try to focus on the appointments if you can.

I am sooooo feeling this. Did you hear how Jackson said “Engineers, scientists, and attorneys will now rise again“. I was like “Yes ma'am!!!!” 'Cause you know Bush was not having people who actually knew what they were doing run things!
Biden looks so happy to be there, and a part of this. Pretty cool…I'm starting to like the guy a little more. At first I just liked him because he always had Obama's back. But I think he's gonna bring something good to the table.
BTW, I love the name Green Team. It's a huge step in the right direction.
I'm am holding my breath with S.of Interiors nomination.

I'm getting a little discouraged by his picks. I know the conventional wisdom is that this is a team he'll drive, but really? Can one man handle a whole cabinet of individuals who are not on the same page ideologically? at least somewhere near the page?
This EPA pick . . . I just don't understand it. She hasn't done shit in New Jersey. Hell, after a couple of years of her mismanagement, BUSH'S EPA!!! was coming out against her.
And she's been big on outsourcing cleaning up the mess to “consultants” who are beholden to the very folks who caused the disaster.
Looks like a corporate tool to me. I'm trying not to be disappointed, but it's getting harder. :(

I'm so relieved that RFK Jr. is not the head of EPA! I don't really know the rest. The enviros I know all backed BHO heavily, but we will be watching to make sure the right stuff gets done. As usual though, where I have my doubts (Salazar?!?! I heard a very unreliable rumor that Grijalva failed the interview), I am inclined to give the PE the benefit of the doubt since he's been so right so far. Keeping all digits crossed because we can't afford to waste a bunch more time the way we've wasted the last 8 or maybe really 16 years on climate change.
