Man after the election, one of the pundits said that the ones Obama has to watch out for are the members of his own party. I took it as just campaign rhetoric, but damned if they weren't right. God help me I think it was Pat Buchanan.

Will Obama Take the Oath on Lincoln's Bible?
He's already taken so many pages out of Abe's book, why not place his hand on the Good one?
Rumors are circulating that Barack Obama will take the Presidential oath on January 20 with one hand on Abraham Lincoln’s Bible. Although the Library of Congress, which houses the Bible, would not confirm this, they did say that the Obama team has expressed interest in it. “It’s been discussed, it’s in the air,” a Library of Congress Rare Books spokesperson said.
The Bible itself, an 1853 Oxford Edition, is covered in worn red velvet and sealed with a metal clasp. It is small in size, not much bigger than a man’s hand. The Lincoln Bible was not a family heirloom—he came to Washington without one—but is thought to have come from the Supreme Court’s holdings. A historian in the Library of Congress’ Rare Books Division said he was not aware that the book had been used to inaugurate any other president.
Yes, his cavalcade, not horse&buggy... they are riding around in a vehicle with windows DOWN armed to the teeth with assault weapons the likes of which the average American has never seen!
But that right there tells me, he is under far greater & FREQUENT threat than ever, as well.
But I am praying!! Which is all I the average citizen can do.

I constantly pray for his safety & for the safety of his family! I pray God...put a hedge of protection around PEO!

What is Olbermann trying to do to me tonight?? This was a great homage to the campaign of Barack Obama...it had all the elements: hope, humor, anger, love, joy, sorrow,.....it had it all!

President-elect Barack Obama is set to name two top congressional aides as his eyes and ears in the House and Senate, respectively.
Dan Turton, the staff director on the House Rules Committee who also worked for former Democratic House Leader Richard Gephardt of Missouri, will be Obama's House liaison, while Shawn Maher, a top aide to Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) will serve as the top liaison to the Senate, a source tells Politico.
The announcement is expected later today.
Both Turton and Maher will report directly to Phil Schiliro, Obama's head of legislative affairs.
Turton already has a seat at the Democratic leadership table as the staff director on Rules. He gets high marks from Democrats and Republicans alike. Maher was deeply involved with Dodd's work on the Wall Street bailout, so he'll bring significant economic policy knowledge to the job.
These legislative liaisons will work for the White House, but spend much of their time quite literally walking the hallways of Congress, lingering outside of votes and lobbying members of Congress in person to back the administration on important legislation. They will also feed intelligence back to the administration about where things stand on Capitol Hill.

HONOLULU — On the first full day of his last vacation before taking office, President-elect Barack Obama seemed to have already had enough of the prying eyes of the press corps shadowing his every move.
“OK, guys, come on," Obama said, looking toward photographers clicking away as he stretched and hit a few drives before a Sunday afternoon round of golf.
“How many shots do you need?”
Obama played 18 holes with three others at Olomana Golf Links near his Kailua vacation home on his native island of Oahu, according to a pool report from The New York Times' Jeff Zeleny. Eugene Kang, a political adviser, was with Obama at the driving range.
As the president-elect's warmed up, an onlooker peering through a fence noticed something special about Obama's game.
"He's a lefty!" the man said. (Obama shares the trait with the likes of Masters and PGA champion Phil Mickelson.)
KANEOHE, Hawaii — President-elect Barack Obama personally thanked a handful of military service members after a morning workout.
Obama was up early Monday to visit the gym at Marine Corps Base Hawaii with his wife, Michelle.
After the workout, he walked up to about 20 people in the parking lot, posed for pictures and chatted for a few minutes.
He said, "Thank you, guys. Appreciate your service."
From there, Obama returned to his rented $9 million oceanfront home in Kailua where he and his family are staying for the Christmas holiday.
Michelle Obama remained behind at the gym.
O.K. So every news article/reporter wants to focus in on the value of the "rental!"

KANEOHE, Hawaii — President-elect Barack Obama personally thanked a handful of military service members after a morning workout.
After eating a breakfast of $16 eggs and washing it down with organic orange juice, priced at $4.99 per 8 ounces, Obama headed over to the gym at the Marine Corps facility in an entourage of Escalades, Hummers and Range Rovers.
The president-elect played basketball in a Burberry jogging suit from Neiman Marcus and a pair of pricey Adidas tennis shoes. After the workout, he walked up to about 20 people in the parking lot with designer sunshades by Versace, posed for pictures, signed autographs and chatted for a few minutes.
He said, "Thank you, guys. Appreciate your service."
From there, Obama returned to his rented $9 million oceanfront home in Kailua where he and his family are staying for the Christmas holiday. The lavish estate features 5 bedrooms, where each bed is dressed with 1000 thread count linens and 5.5 bathrooms outfitted with expensive Egyptian terrycloth towels, $10 mini soaps, a bidet, a spa and 3 ply toilet paper. The gourmet kitchen features granite countertops and a Subzero kitchen stocked with $19/lb gourmet cheeses, rare meats, caviar, lobster and authentic Champagne. The Obamas will dine on fancy china from Bernardau at $435 per place setting, all atop a Chantilly lace tablecloth estimated at almost $2000 per tablecloth.
Obama will return to America and prepare to take the oath of office later in January, where he faces insurmountable challenges in helping ordinary Americans losing their jobs and savings navigate the financial crisis.

KANEOHE, Hawaii — President-elect Barack Obama used the restroom facilities while vacationing in his lavish $9 million dollar beachfront secluded estate.
Obama went into the restroom at about 10:45, Secret Service personnel guarding the doors outfitted with 24K gold knobs with diamond inlay.
The bathroom Obama used has 3 ply organic toilet paper estimated to cost $20 per roll and sold exclusively to royals, elites and heads of state directly through Charmin's manufacturers. The paper is milled from organic trees planted deep in the Amazonian rainforest, where the average citizen only makes 3 cents per day.
Obama was estimated to have used 10 three ply sheets of this toilet paper and was heard to have flushed not once, but twice, which may anger many citizens who voted for him because of his "green friendly" campaign promises. The toilets installed at Obama's lavish hideaway are said not to be "low flow" toilets, which environmentalists claim will reduce water usage.
After washing his hands in French milled soaps, Obama applied La Mer hand lotion which is estimated to cost around $225 per bottle. For comparison, the average shopper can buy 225 bottles of SUAVE for the same price of the Obama lotion.
Exiting the bathroom, Obama sprayed a commercial air freshener behind him. The price could not be determined, but the National Association Against Aerosol Sprays has determined that by using an aerosol air freshener, Obama released enough ozone into the atmosphere to speed up the rate of global warming by one week.

*Dead and buried on my way to meet Sweet Minty Jesus*
KANEOHE, Hawaii — While the news media and blogosphere is in an uproar about President-elect Barack Obama's lavish $9 million dollar exotic Hawaii getaway, other groups are outraged about Obama seemingly not being as green friendly as he preaches.
Sources claim that all of the bathrooms in Obama's expensive oceanside estate are outfitted with Quilted Northern Ultra Plush 3-ply bath tissue.
Georgia Pacific, the manufacturer of Quilted Northern, claims that 3-ply bath tissue "delivers a luxurious experience to consumers with 2 layers for softness" and "an additional layer for absorbency." Georgia Pacific officials claim the new Quilted Northern is sewer friendly and 100% biodegradable material, made from virgin pulp fibers.
But environmentalists are concerned that Obama's continued usage of 3-ply bath tissue signals that he is not as green friendly as he preaches. Quilted Northern's 3-ply bath tissue is not made of recyled materials. In their defense, Georgia Pacific claims that Quilted Northern Ultra Plush 3-ply uses no more paper than regular 2-ply bath tissues.
Joan McGillycutty of the environmental blog NO TP for my Bunghole feels betrayed by Obama's usage of 3 ply toilet paper. "He claimed that he was going to be more green friendly and create green jobs and then he turns around on his expensive vacation where he thinks nobody can see him and uses a form of toilet paper that is requiring more trees to be cut down and used. Why can't he use 2 ply toilet paper or better yet, 1 ply?"
McGillycutty continues, "I feel betrayed and disappointed. If this is how he [Obama] going to be, breaking promises before he's even sworn in, how is he going to be after he takes the oath of office?"
McGillycutty says that she is organizing all of her fellow environmental bloggers to write a letter to the president-elect urging him to stop the use of 3 ply toilet paper immediately. "He's setting a bad example for the rest of the country," she said. "I know that sometimes when people aren't used to having the luxuries of life they go overboard because they're not used to having it, but we're talking about the Earth here. Comfort and luxury for your butt does not trump destroying trees."
Neither President-elect Obama nor his staff had any comment for this story.

Hairdressers want chance to style first lady By GILLIAN GAYNAIR, Associated Press Writer Gillian Gaynair, Associated Press Writer – Mon Dec 22
WASHINGTON – Hair salon owner Barry Fletcher sent Michelle Obama a 17-minute DVD about himself. Hairdresser Keith Harley uploaded his resume to President-elect Barack Obama's Web site. And salon owner Nicole Cober-Blake plans to get her name in by sending a welcome basket with bath gels, hair products and a robe.
There are plenty of unanswered questions buzzing around the Obamas' impending arrival, but one has hairdressers on the edge of their styling chairs: Who will be chosen to do Michelle Obama's hair?
Now, everyone wants to know where theFrist Lady gonna get her hair did
I'm pretty sure if she chooses a black stylist somebody will comment WHY SHE GOTTA GO WITH A BLACK STYLIST?
Meanwhile Misty at Country Cutz & Color and Bethany at Supercuts will say to themselves, glad she chose a black stylist.

Town, break it down.
It's Mary Lou at MasterCuts, here. Only they hired a Korean chic to do all the POC's hair. So, you know they'll get the Asians in there. But what Black person would step foot in that place, knowing these folks don't want to look at them, let alone touch their "nappy hair."

LMAO!!! Funniest thing, the one time I've gotten my hair cut by a white perosn, it was a white guy about 10 years ago....I think his fear is why he gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had. No lie. I swear I still remember because I went back to him to after that to trim it and cut it when it would grow out too much from the style. It was the best layered bob EVER. I think he was so nervous he was cutting my hair strand by strand...it took him FOREVER. I had just moved to Charlotte, NC and the reason I went in was because I saw a black face...turned out she was the receptionist but she told me he could do it...he was scared, I was scared...but the haircut....I promise, just a haircut...took him about 90 minutes just to cut my hair...but it was FLY! It was perfect!
The pool report on Obama's holiday vacation in Hawaii today has some amusing accounts of his spam sushi lunch and a confession that he's not very good at golf:
President-elect Barack Obama finished his afternoon golf game about 5:30 p.m. local time, five hours after arriving at Olomana Golf Links.
There is no word on Mr. Obama's score or any of the others in the foursome.
But half-way through his 18 holes, as he stopped by the snack bar, he unexpectedly bumped into the pool sitting outside the club house. Asked how his game was going, he smiled and conceded: "I'm not that good."
He chatted for a moment, telling the pool to have a beer and put it on his tab. No one took him up on the offer.
As for Mr. Obama and his group, a snack bar clerk later confirmed that he purchased two hot dogs, two spam musubi, two passion orange sodas, one Powerade and one coke, for a tab of $17.75. The spam musubi, a local luncheon specialty, consists of spam and a fried egg on a bed of rice, all held together with a dried seaweed wrap. (Visualize a very big sushi role, slightly larger than a Hostess Ho Ho.)
The golf course was located in the Windward community of Waimanalo, about 20 minutes from Waikiki. The 18-hole course, a par 72, is set against a backdrop of the Ko'olau Mountain Range. The public course, according to marketing materials, features challenging holes of water hazards, sand traps and undulating topographical conditions.
The pool held near the clubhouse for the duration and did not watch the president-elect play.
The motorcade rolled out of the golf course at 5:42 p.m., with Mr. Obama seen on his cell phone, as he made his way back to the Kailua vacation house.
Evening plans? Uncertain.

In an interview with Larry King set to air tonight, Joe Biden defended Barack Obama's selection of Rick Warren to give the invocation at his inauguration:
Barack Obama said you've got to reach out. You've got to reach a hand of friendship across the aisle and across philosophies in this country.
We can't continue to be a red and blue country. We can't be divided like we have been. And he's made good on his promise.
And I would say to the gay and lesbian community, they have nothing to worry about. Barack Obama, every aspect of his life, every aspect of his public life, and every commitment he's made relating to equality for all people, will be things that he will stick with and that they should view this in the spirit in which he offered the opportunity to -- to Mr. Warren.
Shazza
But But But...I HAVE to say something!! I was on DailyKos and those people are losing their ever-lovin' minds. There's a whiff of PUMAness to the madness too. One person even did a diary ALL ABOUT how Hillary would NEVER have done this. They want to take back money, their support (if it was ever really there to start with) and their vote. It's very exhausting to see the all the vitriol directed at President Obama. They even brought up Donnie McClurkin, I didn't realize he was so hated.
Against Race Politics
Yeah, they hate Donnie. They say he is in the closet!
His uncle and cousin, in my opinion, were predators. Whenever someone is thus abused, the victim often repeats what occurred in his/her later behavior. He may not have had any opportunity to find out for himself who he was.
But to equate gays as predators is too big a reach, and is erroneous in fact as well. For this and other comments, McClurkin has been criticized as "self-hating" from other gays. This is a term that has its basis in how some Jews view other Jews who have sold out--in their opinion--to the goyim (Gentiles).
The thing about gay folks saying Donnie is in the closet is that they say that about anyone who does not agree with their poitical issue and comes out and factual states an opposition to their agenda. The first insult they hurl is 'you gay' and that is so queer, to think they tag someone as homosexual to hurl hate...it's like wtf are YOU? Is this how you demonstrate gay pride by using the term 'you gay' as hate? See, some mofos are so twisted in the head they can't keep straight whether they like themselves or not.
Which tells you how deeply their psyches have to be bent when insisting what they do is normal, a birthright and perfectly 'natural'
riiiiight
Lavender
Ah, WRB. I'm not following this stuff at DKos because I never read it. So I don't know what they said. But general when someone gay accuses someone of being in the closet, it's not to say that being gay is bad, but that because the closet is a such a deeply shameful place to be, it sometimes makes people become hostile to other gays as a projection of their own self hatred.
Many gay people have lived in the closet and know just how twisted a place it is to have to live. The shame and hatred doesn't come from other gay people, who are ready and willing to greet and welcome someone out of it, as if welcoming them home. The shame doesn't even necessarily come from individual straight people, althought for sure that happens way too frequently. It comes from a culture that pathologizes and demonizes gayness, from messages that we all hear all day long in every message that comes out of mainstream culture.
When someone becomes ex-gay it's pretty suspicious. Which isn't to say that people don't change their minds, or fall in love with someone unexpected. But generally when it's a natural course of events, the person doesn't think of themselves, or talk about themselves as "ex-gay" Gayness, that is, the memories and friends, and things they learned are part of themselves, part of their identity.
It's more likely that they'll say, I'm seeing a man/woman now. Or as a kind of benign poke a lesbian who has changed teams might be referred to as a "hasbian" but that's an in crowd expression, and indicated that the person still feels part of a community, even if they have switched teams.
Again, I haven't followed the discussions you are mentioning, but I am guessing that any contempt or hostility you might read into "he's in the closet" used about an "ex-gay" is a communal political anger of people being tortured or "reformed" into going straight.
They used to force gays to have electroshock therapy to get them to change. Really. Not that long ago. Within my lifetime. Maybe within yours. It was common. Now it's church indoctrination. Like the stuff Rick Warren does. There's a long history behind the anger. But it's not an anger about being gay. It's about being oppressed.
There is a long history behind this response. One that I'm sure many non gay people find it hard to parse.
I hope this helps a bit.
spirit_55z
Lavender, I appreciate your candor in sharing. Well stated.
The thing about <insert >"SOME"gay folks saying Donnie is in the closet is that they say that about anyone who does not agree with their poitical issue and comes out and <takes out>"factual" states an opposition to their agenda.

At some point, Donnie McClurkin actually admitted he had homosexual urges but he says he has been healed through religion. I am sure this is what is being referred to.
Against Race Politics
Yeah.
whiterosebuddy
Thanks Against Race Politics...I see you got my point. I wasn't talking about anyone being in the closet at all. I was saying that gay people spew 'you gay' at folks to insult them. They commonly do that when another individual argues with them. The other common insult is bigot.
NMP
Who do you think the PUMA's were besides bitter middle-aged white women? The LGBT overwhelmingly supported Hillary Clinton in the primaries, and they were the only group that declined in support for the Democratic candidate since 2004. What does President elect Obama owe them again? I have never seen a group who loses practically every electoral battle rant like they have political strength. As I said before, they lost on gay marriage in arguably the gayest state in the country. 30 states have outlawed gay marriage. And they really think this is the way to turn the tide in their direction?
Shazza
Good point, NMP, I really hadn't thought about that. Yet I keep reading 'WE' elected him! I was thinking to myself, didn't BO get less support than Kerry in the gay community? They started referring to straight entitlement but all I could see was white entitlement.
whiterosebuddy
You hit the nail on the head Shazza. White entitlement!
What I find particularly egregious is that Obama supports repealing DOMA completely and HRC never did. But yet they support HRC while calling Obama a bigot? Ain't nothing at play here but racism.

For much of the past seven years, President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have waged a clandestine operation inside the White House. It has involved thousands of military personnel, private presidential letters and meetings that were kept off their public calendars or sometimes left the news media in the dark.
Their mission: to comfort the families of soldiers who died fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and to lift the spirits of those wounded in the service of their country.
islandgirl550
D, he still gets the GASSS FACE in my book. Sorry.
That, though, requires you to buy into the "Bush lied, people died!" meme.
Which I don't. ;)
GreenLadyHere
D: O.K. But the LOGIC still exists. :>)
Monie
Is this article part of the broader effort to help boost Bush's legacy...we all know the leanings ot the Washington Times to begin with.
But frankly, Bush/Cheney don't deserve any kudos for this...that is what a Commander-in-Chief is SUPPOSED to do. Especially after the conduct and planning his administration fell so miserably at to begin with.
It's just a shame that during all those behind-the scene visits they supposedly had, they stayed oblivious to the substandard conditions at Walter Reed---maybe they were not visiting that much.
I think that for visiting the families, some measure of credit is deserved. Especially from the VP, who really isn't required (either by law or convention) to do so.
I know one of the times I went to the White House, President Bush spent more time with the families than with the veterans, and he didn't seem contrived/forced in the least.
Monie
I am not saying he is not sincere. But it is a given that these servicemembers not only serve, but their families serve as well.
D, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have become the HARDEST conflicts on families than any other wars because of the fact that over 50% of all servicemembers are married with children as opposed to wars past......and so today more than ever more families are serving with their husbands than ever before.
I know that it took awhile in some branches to even expand services for families back home, like extending free day-care to deployed troop families and providing recreational activities to their children...I know in the Army in particular, families were struggling hard with the frequent deployments and they were some of the major issues discussed at AFAP conferences...you can be sure I was one of the vocal. Many of these services really did not come to fruition until at least 2006...which was still kind of late considering how long we were already involved in these wars, but it was still better than nothing.
Monie, you're preaching to the choir; you know I know that.
Believe it or not, the Army is a lot further along in dealing with deployment issues than the Navy is. The ship stuff is normal for us, but now that we're putting people on the ground as well (besides the special operations guys), the Navy is running into a lot of the same problems that the ground-oriented forces are.
Monie
Exactly. My brother's ex-girlfriend is a Naval officer and we were discussing the same things earlier this year. She was the one who informed me that more Naval personnel were serving in combat land operations right alongside the Army and Marines, since the other forces have been stretched so thin. And literally many Naval personnel are being put in positions they never anticipated.
I know I come hard on Bush. But the truth is, when our servicemembers are "at home" from deployment...they still spend a lot of time away training.
Once the new year arrives here for me and my family, I already know things are going to change drastically because we got training coming up. So even though my husband's deployment is months away...he will probably be absent from our household for at least 60% of the time until he goes overseas. And families have to make some tough decisons in the meantime...I'm tackling some of my own dilemmas...while at the same time making the most of this Christmas/New Year's that he IS home but the future is real uncertain.
whiterosebuddy
Merry Christmas Monie!
Wishing you and your family a very blessed holiday season full of good cheer and lots of happy moments to cherish forever.
Monie
Thanks whiterosebuddy! I wish the same to you, your family, and the rest of JJP.
I learned a long time ago that you have to be thankful for the present because tomorrow is not promised. And while you are going through life's journey...you must appreciate the lows as well as the highs...because everything has its purpose, whether we understand it or not.
One of my anthems in life is the gospel song "I Won't Complain." And that's not to say, I NEVER complain...it just helps me put away the wallowing or self-victimization.
My unit in Cuba was the first Navy group to do detainee operations. Aside from me (I volunteered, not really knowing what was going on), we had aircraft mechanics, cooks, engineering types, masters at arms....the only requirement was people who had worked security or in a brig before (which I hadn't, and I got stuck in Camp Delta for a couple months before getting pulled out).
That's the main thing I tell people who ask me about the military now; no matter what you're trained for, know that you can-and most likely will-be sent overseas.
As much as we whine and complain about "finish the job," anyone smart enough to understand the military's force structure and deployment schedules knows that we couldn't sustain the 2007 tempo in Iraq past 2010...and that's at the latest. I-and I think most now-are starting to recognize that those 30K troops getting ready to get packed off to Afghanistan are coming from the same surge pool that did Iraq.
It's going to take a couple decades to restore the military to its pre-9/11 strength, both in terms of equipment, personnel, and-probably most importantly-leadership? Was it worth it? I still think so, but a fair analysis has to recognize that extensive damage has been done.
Monie
So true. And I hope the Obama Administration keeps military families at the forefront, and especially help implement some of the same programs for deployed Navy personnel's families like they have the Army. Because if they don't,it is sure to create more problems and I can guarantee families will begin dissolve....just like they have in other branches.
Supposedly, that's going to be Michelle Obama's First Lady "thing." I take that with measured skepticism.
Monie
Now why does it have to be like that?.....Now if Laura Bush had been a little more vocal and visible on the behalf of military families, maybe I would have liked the Bush administration a little more....lemme stop...I still think my opinion of frat-boy and the neo-Cons would have been the same.
As far as Michelle, just like everything else, I will take a wait-and-see approach. Matter of factly, I may write a few letters myself.
I think even with Laura Bush, I'd have been a bit skeptical.
If that should be anyone's "thing," it's Jill Biden. Of the two spouses, she has the experience of dealing with deployments and the military.
Monie
That may be true...But I think Michelle can also relate because she has had to endure raising her girls back in Illinois while Obama was in Washington, not to mention the grueling campaign schedule they faced as a family...and the strain it may have posed. Her experience may not have been severe as the typical military family is...but I am sure she can relate. Hopefully she and Jill Biden can join forces.
From what I read, many of the military wives who attended the roundtables she held were very impressed with Michelle O., and some of the women were initially Clinton supporters but later fell in line and supported Obama and embraced Michelle wholeheartedly.
The illegal hijab: A woman is sentenced to10 days in jail for refusing to remove her hijab in traffic court. This post looks at the criminalization of the hijab and its intersections with race and gender.

America is a country with freedom of religion!.To deny her that right is accepted racism! It wouldn't be asked of a Nun to remove her head covering!
Makes me wonder how many lawsuits someone would face if they tried to do this in the US. Yet Jesus is only considered a minor prophet in Islam...and here Iraq has a government funded celebration of his birth.
Forgive the typo! I asked about the date marker b/c I consider anything since the birth of modern R&B "modern". I can't get through the Christmas Season without EVERY Stevie Wonder Christmas song and Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" played at least once a day for the entire Season. Even if 1990 is the "modern" marker, Boyz to Men's "Let It Snow" is played at the house no less than 100 times before the end of the year.

lol
I have to hear Christina Aguilera's "Oh Holy Night" at least 10 times a day! She sings it so beautifully. I feel you on Stevie Wonder also...Just love "Someday At Christmas"!
Merry Christmas!

I love it too Justice.

This is how it’s gonna go down in the Millner/Chiles household from now on and forever more: Any kid who comes to my house talking about “There is no Santa Claus” will not be invited back until June, when nobody’s thinking about Christmas.
I totally agree with you. My children believe in Santa. I see parents and little children shop for Christmas presents. Their behavior leave a lot to be desired. The parents are ATM machines to these kids. Children make demands and have crying fits if they don't get what they want. The parents are angry, frustrated, and worn out.. There is no joy in the Christmas shopping.
My children will experience the wonder and joy that I experienced in Christmas as a child. My children enjoy the holiday season. They love the cooking, the decorating, viewing holiday displays, the music and the tv shows. It is a joy to see them get into the Christmas spirit

I HEAR that!!
Put your foot down....Kiddies are the only real JOY at Christmas time...don't let no body steal your rapture.

Found this over on Ta-Nehisi blog. Anthony Hamilton doing his thing:
Michael Jackson has been hit with a $1 billion lawsuit from a woman called Billie Jean who reportedly wants custody of his son. In a suit filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Billie Jean Jackson alleges she is the mother of the singer's son Prince Michael Jackson II, nicknamed Blanket. The woman demands $1 billion in support payment, as well as joint legal and physical custody of the six-year-old, according to legal documents obtained by U.S. news program Extra. Billie Jean also requests visits with the boy on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays - in addition to participation in Blanket's education. The Thriller hitmaker refused to identify Blanket's mother after he was born in 2002, but has previously said the child was the result of artificial insemination from a surrogate. Jackson has faced similar lawsuits in the past. In 2006 and 2007, a woman unsuccessfully sued him for paternity payments, claiming she helped Jackson reproduce.
My son had an opportunity to meet two through his mentoring program in Arlington, VA, a few years ago. A few of the parents, including myself "snuck in". I think it was more exciting for us than the kids.

Oh, this is so awesome..it just makes you wanna cry. We need a memento photo of this historical event. Obama with the Tuskegee Airman...O lord, it just makes your heart sing to think of all the struggles that made this day possible.
In addition, the Queen of Soul is set to deliver a big performance at the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.
"I feel great pride, respect and honor to have been invited to participate in this universal and global celebration for such a phenomenal man, President-elect Barack Obama. And to participate in what promises to be one of the greatest moments in American history. I am so glad he came along in my lifetime," Franklin said in a statement.
I sure hopes she sings "Oh Happy Day"! Pretty Please...
The Detroit singer has been a vocal supporter of Obama since early in the presidential campaign. She attended his Labor Day rally last September at Hart Plaza in Detroit, and was sitting in one of the front rows when Obama paid tribute to her by singing a few bars of her 1967 hit "Chain of Fools." Franklin's assessment: "He has a very melodic and soulful voice, and he was grooving."
Those are the SOUNDS of me looking through the CHOIR ROBES in order to FIND HIS SIZE!! :>) :>)
NOW, HE can be in the JJP CHOIR! Even though I sang soprano, Ima be standin' in the TENOR SECTION! Y'all feelin' me? :>) :>) ***shakin my head*** :>) :>)
A thought ran across my mind...what if Barack had been elected during Segregation? Where would he have lived? Would the White House have been available to him? If so, what would happen to the White House following his two terms?
We know how some racists felt (feel) about pools used by black people, "I'll never, ever get in that pool!"
So could that mean that the real racists will never pursue political office now that a Black Man is about to occupy what was considered a "Whites Only" house?
Just a thought...

C'mon Webb...what type of incongruent fantasy are you having. SEGREGATION and being ELECTED as President. c'mon now, he would have been lynched before we voted or his name was put on the ballot.
How about if he had been elected President during RECONSTRUCTION?
LoL, oh-my-goodness...I promise you all; this will drive some "saltines" absolutely CRA__ZY! Do you know how much it's going to cost to fly a 747(Air Force One) from DC to HI? I wish that I could get a nickel for everytime that Limball and Fannity bring this shyt up.
Can you imagine if Bush or any other president for that matter was making trips to Hawaii on the taxpayers dime, folks would be losing their minds. Even I would be bitching about it.
But the beauty of it for Barack is, "It's my home state! Dayum skippy, I'm going home!" ...AND, I LOVES IT...Oh how I LOVES IT...BwaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!
The rural rednecks of GA can fantasize about getting to Honolulu, but Barack's gonna be sippin pina-coladas on some of the best beaches on earth...at their expense. I SURELY LOVES IT!
whiterosebuddy
Well, I think those folks best start looking at how frequently former Presidents went to their homes or CampDavid for holidays. Then we might be able to talk. Cause for sure no other President has been restricted in trips to their home state...so to me it is a mute point.
You and me both are LOVIN IT!! ....Aloha!! Now tell me what you thought about this blurb:
"He chatted for a moment, telling the traveling press pool to have a beer and put it on his tab.
(Visualize a very big sushi role, slightly larger than a Hostess Ho Ho.) "
Have we EVER read about what other Presidents order on the golf course while on vacation? I do not ever recall reading anything that Bill Clinton ordered other than from a McDonalds while he was out running and that he chowed down Dunkin Donuts too.
And what is that about the press did not take up Obama on his offer? If do recall reading during the general that the press corp went to McCain's Sedona Ranch and PIGGED out!!
So, what is this infer sanctimonious pab about declined Obama like they do not eat on politicians tabs?
Is it just Senatorial but not Presidential...or what?
Hahahaha, body surfing, watching fabulous Pacific sunsets and enjoying cool tropical breezes.
Just call Obama...MR. COOL!!
loving it!

Now whiterose, we got to make sure the Prez ain't being slipped some weed or crack, and also, we wanna keep track of his spending you know, with the economy in the shithole and all.
Plus PEO gonna be making over $400,000 a year as POTUS, and we want an accounting of all this negros spending of his own money.
Just sayin........
