If Jesse Jackson Jr is candidate #5 that means Obama doesn't want him to fill his Senate seat. Sins of the Father?

At this point Obama's looking pretty good, having refused to play ball, thus earning him the wrath of Blag's foul mouth. At least this is the MSM' first take. But therein lies the problem. If Obama didn't play ball it implies he, or his camp at least, knew ball was being played. Did they report this to Fitz?

Maybe they did, in which case Obama emerges even more powerful. But if they didn't they're linked to a "culture of corruption," to use a phrase deployed by dems against repubs recently.

Dick Durbin was on TV saying this is about an individual. Well, that doesn't cut it. Corruption is systemc, institutionalized in Illinois. Obama might still get singed here.

My friend Rikyrah:

Do you mind if I comment on your coverage of this fiasco in Illinois as part of my evaluation of Black Progressive-Fundamentalist blogs and news media?

Do you notice that you mention the governor, you mention corruption in Illinois politics. Humm what's missing? What is there no mention of?

No mention of the word "Democratic Party" in your commentary or in your labels. No doubt this is but an aberration to the purity that is otherwise in the party.

But right below this article is a bit of journalistic prejudice with regard to Michael Steele and the evil, racist Republican Party.

It comes as no surprise that the coverage of Larry Craig, Ted Stevens and other Republicans who fell on their face due to corruption was projected as par for the course for the "enemy party". For some reason the string of corrupt Democrats in IL, Birmingham, Detroit, Newark, Philadelphia, Camden, New Orleans and Atlanta should not be taken as any sort of pattern.

My goal is not to get you to "attack the Democrats" or to shame them as proof of your objectivity. My goal is to get you and other Progressive-Fundamentalist to see the COST associated with your inability to call a spade a spade and react to those who have failed you accordingly. Ironically the more POWER that your favored party obtains over your interests - the more damaging your inability to not show prejudice as you hold WHOMEVER is in charge accountable for shortchanging you. Thus the more outward your fight must become as you protect those who are closest to you and fight far off enemies who don't live in your district.

A Black person living in Chicago (except in that one district out of 50 that has a Republican alderman) has NO REPUBLICAN representative OR majority Republican legislative body that is working against his interests from local to state to federal. On January 20th this will expand up to include the president. Despite this the school system that provides the very education that folks CLAIM is key to their children's development is an embarrassment in its ability to deliver for the 80% minorities who are housed within it.

Despite this fact ideological bigotry prevents some people from noting the POWER and HEAD COUNT that their favored party and ideology has as in comparison to the grievances that they continue to have where they live in highest concentrations. In effect their political posturing is NOT for the purposes of receiving any particular BENEFIT into their communities (as they claim). Instead the posturing has become strictly for the entrenchment of their ideological and partisan interests with the PERPETUAL CHASE of this elusive satisfaction that they seek. Missing is any organic ability to manage their own into delivering for them as they PROMISED prior to taking power.

When one's satisfaction comes from "fighting their ideological enemies" and increasing their own HEAD COUNT rather than ACTUALLY RECEIVING what they long for it is time do some introspection and determine what exactly they are bound to. It certainly is not the PERMANENT INTERESTS that claim to be pursuing but THE CHASE AFTER THEM which requires them to stay unified, not ask questions and most certainly to NOT DEMAND REFORM for fear of causing a split.

Blago told Bank of America to go fuck itself.

The next day, he was arrested because he talked about selling a Senate seat, which isn't exactly a crime unless he actually sold the Senate seat.

Just saying.

Yeah, I bet folks are sick of the corruption but the GOP party is too pathetic. Look who they ran against Obama in 04. There may be a GOP candidate but the real race will be in the primaries between the Democrats. Whoever wins it will get the Senate seat.

I wonder if they will hold the Special Election though, since it cost a LOT of money...like 45M

http://hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com/archives...

If there is a special election, I put my money on Obama's seat going Republican. Folks here in Illinois are TIRED of these corrupt politicians. Ask Carol Mosely Braun who let her boyfriend or whatever run her office into the ground and money scandals erupted. She was talked about from Chicago to Cairo, Illinois and sent back to the Southside of Chicago. When there is corruption problems in Illinois the other side usually gets the seat. This seat needs a special election just for credibility purposes, no matter who wins.

Lynn Sweet reminds everyone on Hardball that Obama has had NOTHING to do with Blago. The man was not invited to Grant Park, did not have a speaking post at the Dem Convention, was not a surrogate, in other words Obama dealt with him with a very long handled spoon. That happens when everyone smells your roses, but apparently YOU DON'T.

Obama Evening Wrap Up. Illinois and Corruption.

rikyrah is correct on everything. Another note, Blago's wife is just as money hungry as he is and her father is corrupt as they GET. Read the criminal complaint. That shyte is prime for a damn Hollywood movie.

Lastly, one of those "candidates" in the criminal complaint will be exposed. Hopefully, they are not compromised dealing or even TALKING to Blago.
