I've only voted Republican twice in my life, once for Clark Abt against Joseph Patrick Kennedy II for Tip O'Neill's seat in Cambridge, and then for Bill Weld against John Silber. If I were a resident of LA-02, there would have been a third time. 'Cold cash' does not mean keep in the freezer for crying out loud.

I would like to note Mr. Malik Rahim--he came in third in this race.

Mr. Rahim is an activist, and was one of the brave, decent people that helped the folks of New Orleans after Katrina.

More, the man has been very crucial toward getting hundreds of young activists from around the world to participate in various projects toward healing the New Orleans area.

He ran as a Green Party candidate, and if he had won it would have been incredible.

However, the man doesn't hold back his views when it comes to the corruption of the capitalist system and US imperialism--therefore he is shunned by weatlhy elites--African American and white--in our country.

I admire the man, and I call him a friend.

Since we began publishing the CBC Monitor Report Card, we're finding out people read and want to actually know what the hell their congresscritter reps are up TO.

As of 2006, the following have left Congress:

Harold Ford, Jr.
Al Wynn
Bill Jefferson

All were DLC members and the sorryiest representation of their districts.

All consistently scored failing grades on CBC Monitor Reports cards.

It should send the message that if you want to screw over your district, you can and will be VOTED OUT.

They allowed Jefferson to waste another two years when he got challenged by Karen Carter in 2006.

That should tell you how “organized” the Lousiana Democratic Party is.

This district had an opportunity to replace Jefferson two years ago with Karen Carter.

They sent Jefferson back to DC to waste another two years, especially with this indictment hanging over his ass.

Louisiana's a ReThug Hot Bed. And the fact that they are using non-white candidates to unseat Democrats does not bode well for the Democrats in Luzana...

He will be in the seat for 2 years. This is a plus 28 Democratic district and it's 60 percent black.

Mr. Jefferson is a very nice gentleman it looks bad but I don't know his innocence or guilt. That is up to the courts.

In 2010, anyone but Ray Nagin he is a closet Republican and I know he is itching for this seat now.

How organized are the Black folks in his district? Nobody's going to get something done for them from a beggar position or by crying foul over historical setbacks. And what did Jefferson do for the community the 2 decades he was in office? I mean if anyone had actually prospered during that time there wouldn't have been so many poor people left behind to die. People have to take action and stop waiting for someone else to do it for them. The voters didn't turn out and having a Black person in office means little when they're actively selling out.

Somehow I doubt that Cao is different from the typical GOP member in the South, and will turn into another Jindal when it comes to dealing with the black folks in his district, which means he will do nothing or find funding for more jails and less for schools and health care.
